Love the video as always. My wife had a TT soft top and it was always hard work to get back to a perfect black over the years of ownership as with most soft tops the roof started to show it’s age for this reason I would never own another soft top. My next door neighbours bought the car from us they also bought my Jaguar that I bought new and had for 12 years. He loves to keep the car clean and comes out to clean his cars when I start doing mine. I used to teach detailing as a hobby really but I started testing products before they came to market for some of the largest companies and a few small one too this was until November 12th 2018 when I developed sepsis and died some how the NHS got me back but a lot of damage was done including scarring to the front of my brain where we store memories so when I did come out of hospital I did not recognise my home or any friends etc a very scary thing to happen. One thing that started to come back was detailing it also charmed me down. Today I have just under 30 minutes of thinking time the rest is auto pilot or a rest and a rethink. Life is good you did an amazing job on the mini very interesting how you held yourself back from doing to much or more than your customer asked. I am doing my friends 911 in summer it is about 5 years old now with plenty of love marks the one great thing is he has the view “James if you bugger it up or damage the paint or go though the clear coat don’t worry I will just get a respray because I was going to do that anyway” it really takes the pressure off. Same view when I did his Audi Q7 and that had one hell of a scratch I though no way am I getting rid of that but I did with clear coat in tacked Looking forward to the next one James

I'm glad to hear that you've recovered enough to enjoy cleaning the car again, it is therapeutic isn't it. Less so when cleaning the hoods of convertibles though 😂 One thing I will say is that adding a waterproofer like Fabsil Gold has the main benefit of keeping it cleaner for longer, as it helps repel the dirt and stops the fibres getting soaked (allowing the algae to grow). I had a convertible in the past and would get one again in a heartbeat, but this time I know how to look after it, and I think that is the difference.

Interesting video, it’s good to see the difference between an enthusiast and a business approach although I feel here you went quite a bit further than most valeters would experimenting with different products etc The water sheeting was also interesting after GT WSR as I’ve found the same with using it, is it the product leaving a hydrophobic layer or the clean panel 🤔 Great tip using the drill brush in the hand too, simple yet bloody effective 👏👏
@SuperchargedLlama8 ай бұрын
Thank you! And thank you also for appreciating the differences in doing this commercially. You're right on the wheels, I only did Auto-wheel on one of them just to see, more out of my curiosity than anything else really, I've started doing a pre-wash with something like Detail Bugs Mantis at 1:5, which I spray and rinse, and then do a contact wash with Auto-wheel, or Devils Juice depending....I just upped the ante on the pre-wash chemical here based on the severity. This is now my entry level package so I price it in accordingly, and just flex the interior options up and down depending on what the owners want really. I've given up on just washing a car, if that makes sense? Not enough money in it, but critically (for me at least), not enough enjoyment either. Where as the deep cleans are more transformational. As for the WSR, I don't think it does have anything that adds hydrophobic properties, but I think it removes things that impedes them, such as mineral deposits on the paint...but also perhaps neutralising the minerals in the rinse water on the car? Not too sure on the latter bit but I'm reasonably confident on the first. I just need GT to sell it in 5L now!

At last someone using a pre wash rather than blasting the dirt straight off. Koch is good, an increasing level of wheel products. I came from Detailing World 2007.

Really enjoyed this video. Loved the methodology and process you followed. Shows what can be achieved on a car that needed a deep clean.
@SuperchargedLlama8 ай бұрын
Thank you darling! I'm continually blown away by how good WSR is as a demineraliser for all over use, would you ever do 5L of it? I burn through it as you'd imagine. I guess another question, could you layer this over Iron Oxide so as to skip a couple application process? I hadn't done it as I thought it may impact the efficacy of both, especially as Labocosmetica Sidero tries it...and does neither particularly well.

Lovely job ! I agreed with customer about the alloys. The finished shots were spot on but the soft top looked a bit odd ... was it the sunlight on it or the camera angle ... sorry the OCD was kicking in 😂
@SuperchargedLlama8 ай бұрын
That's a good question. I hadn't really thought about it when editing, but watching it back I can see that it looks like the roof goes from black to a bit brown? If that's what you're referring to then I can safely tell you it's the sunlight, the finish was gloriously uniform.

It is, especially the interior, I would have loved to have really given everything a nice wipe over. Exterior wise it's about as good as it'll look without a polish, save the plastic trim - popping round next week to do that, I hadn't realised that my previous bottle had fallen over and leaked away.
