But for computing the present value of tax Shield the numerator will be, debt * 0.12 (for eg) * tax rate, but in the denominator we have to divided it by 1 + cost of debt i.e. 1.12 to get the present value. Then will they get cancelled?

If a firm can just increase value by increasing its debt in this circumstance, why don't all firms do it? That way, wouldn't their share prices skyrocket?
