Great job 👍👍! Me personally I would only remove all the scale, leaving the same profile, then acid etching. Still super nice.

Any possibility of a forged chef’s knife. Just finished my first one. I did the brute de forge style. Really like that look in a hand made knife. Thanks

what do the pins do? they are so small do they hold the handle on the tang? beautiful knife
@Hathenbrucksteelworks6 ай бұрын
Thank you. They’re just alignment pins, so the guard and handle material stay in the same place while shaping.

@@Hathenbrucksteelworks Thanks for the speedy reply.... I never make a knife before I been wanting to give it try, truth is I dont even know where to start ... Thanks again

My pleasure. You can do it pretty basic with minimal tools, or you can go extreme and spend tens of thousands on tooling. It really all depends on how you want to make one. Stock removal is much easier and doesn’t require near the amount of tools that forging does. It’s a very fun process though.

@@Hathenbrucksteelworks I do a lot of woodworking so I have lots saw blades so I was thinking of making a knife or two . just basic tools is the way I want to go

danke für die serie, ich hät jetzt nur noch ne frage: was macht man wen man kein harz verwenden möchte? die haben das ja früher auch irgendwie hinbekommen und ich glaub nicht das die das geteert haben.
@Hathenbrucksteelworks Жыл бұрын
It’s my pleasure. Thank you! Do you mean the resin that glues the handle on? You’d just have to use a mechanic fastener. Either another pin, or add a butt cap somehow.

@@Hathenbrucksteelworks wait a minute- you don't speak german? I beg your pardon - the name of the channel is German - I don't remember what I was thinking. but yes exactly - the resin for the handle. i want to try to restore an old blade and want to do without everything that is not VERY old. do you happen to have a video for the other options for the handle fastning?... 118 videos are quite a few...

I wish I did. My great great grandfather came from Germany.

I know I’ve done a few different techniques, but I don’t have a specific video on handle fastening. For a few of my kitchen knives, I braze a piece of threaded rod on the end of the tang and use a nut to tighten everything together.

I have some 1/16” stainless that I bought online. Can’t remember where I got it, Online Metals…maybe.
