i honestly love how shibata put out his hand for him to shake when he was done with his round. dude that is fuckin tight. sportsmanship after a competition is incredibly dope to me. to battle all out then still be cool at the end is just tight. i hate all the beef and hostility people have, especially in hip hop. also i must say i'm new to this level of house dance. and i gotta say i'm thoroughly entertained. this is dope as hell.

I totally agree. The spirit of house is the vibe created by the interplay between the DJ and the crowd and shared and experienced by everyone on the dance floor. It is NOT battling. Two guys battling it out while everyone is sitting down(!) and cheering is not what house is about I'm sorry.

yo man, i can see that you are not familiar with the housing scene, actually housing is a part of the hip hop culture, so first know something before you give comments like that

A history lesson. Way back in the late 60' / 70's in the North of UK there was then an underground scene called 'Northern Soul'. This took place at venues like Wigan Casino & The Wheel where all nighters took place. Clubbers would dance none stop to the rarest US soul grooves not even heard commercially in the US until late into the 70's and now B-Boys have caught onto these rare tunes. As for the dancing. House dancing; See Northern Soul. It's similar. A possible debate. Peace.

...the japanese guy had more footwork; but his moves in the first few rounds has nervous written all over 'em. he took too long to warmup and adjust to & feel the music and his footwork are too rigid- he never turns or move around smoothly; his footwork are all forwards, backwards and sideways. but when he hits the groove; he pull off some really rad as fook moves. and the guy in yellow was just big xaggeratted; but not amazing moves; plus the japanese's more original. hmm...tough decision.:S

it''s a hard one i think, ....they could do better with some better tunes though, but i guess tune is tune, you just needa find a way to click with it. =] but to be honest, the guy in yellow seemed much more relaxed with smooth moves all the way through; and moves around and does turning moves much more though that probably came from his breaking. that kinda made up for the lack of variety in his footwork and moves in general....

well, to be honest, 25 years ago i had 'floor force' written on one of my legs, and 'glide master', lol, on the other - i was hip hop, the first kid in my crew to do a no-hand windmill - anyway, i'm not antagonistic toward hip-hop, i was the first kid to bring hip hop to my town back in the early 80's - before most of y'all were born. i evolved - is all i can say; i guess it bothers me a bit to see all these house kids hip hopping - hip hop was always more external - to me, house is the opposite

also, after the first track, the music became extremely weak - especially the last part - very disappointing - especially for a supposed world-class event final! - it should not have been so, because it didn't encourage, or more importantly - inspire - either dancer to bring 101% of their potential . . in my opinion - should've had more of an edge - an underground vibe/feel - what house really is, not the ho-hum, nothing special, cheesy organ-chords disco sound that was present there . . love .

you dance first, then you pick a style. the black guy won cuz he had more wow factor. i don't really know what house is, but i can honestly say that he was more interesting. i've never heard of a hip-hop dance style that says "you CAN'T do this kind of move." Of course, if its too far off, the audience says "wtf," but they'll usually never do that if the core elements are there. black guy wins.

It's not really mixing it's because both House and BBoy have similar roots that they are combined, as Bboying and House evolved the ideas of house were implemented into toprocks while more elaborate footwork was implemented into house. It's bboying not Breakdance, and the Asian guy (I think I heard a girl saying Fuji) had way more flow and dynamic than the other dude. Major props to both though.

If house is indeed a feeling, then there is no one set of movements that you can't incorporate. How do you think jacking evolved in the first place? By incorporating movements from different styles as well as creating a style of your own. The best in house (and any style of dance) become conduits by individually expressing the music with their body. Mamson and Koki, Caleaf, B-terry, etc. are all masters at this. Their movements and the music are indistinguishable. Just my two cents.

That's hilarious! I was thinking the exact same thing. I like Mamson as a dancer, and respect the fact that he's a supporter of the house dance and music community. But, I think he's overrated as a dancer. Entering competitions and hanging around an active house dance crowd helped give him a popular and familiar name among house heads and onlookers. Mamson's last run looked horrible, what the heck was he dancing to!

you need to wake up and smell the future, cuz sittin down in the past won't take you anywhere, i know those clubs, when you just look at it the spiritual stuff, it's all good, but everything evolves man, so don't be dissin me personnaly, this is not about me or you it's about housing evolving every day not about haters who get stuck in the past

homeboy on the right is AMAZING. he's got a really unique style. In my opinion, he won, but in housing who cares? On a side note, KaraKartel, I hope you're not getting racial. That would mean that you're probably from the part of the U.S. that lost the civil war.

gyroscopical - i agree that freeze wasn't the best, but the crowd didn't go wild because of that freeze. mamson as always followed the beat and that "wack freeze" caught that beat perfectly. thats what dancing is all about ...feel the music.

Ditto! Ejoe and Cebo best two dancers in my opinion. Caleaf is nice, but I grew up in the era where jacking dominated house dance. So, I tend to appreciate and prefer lofting and footwork rather than the latter.
