Red is basically the video game version of Ash
@SonicSatamAnimations11 ай бұрын
@Itzmxr Red is ash. Even in Pokémon red, the first ‘real’ name to choose from was ash. The Pokémon tv show didn’t just make up a new character, red is ash. Look at them, they both come from pallet town, have the same house, have the same mother, look the same and HECK even have a pikachu as they’re ace. They are both rivals with Gary/blue (which Gary is also the first real name you can choose for your rival) is the grandson of professor oak. Red and ash are the same people.
@SonicSatamAnimations11 ай бұрын
@Itzmxr I see where your going, but he was only renamed to advertise and give nostalgia for the original games of red and blue. The blue jacket? They gave ash a blue jacket so that both players of pokemon red and players of blue would be pleased. Also, go ahead and read the Pokemon red manual, in it, they continuously refer to red as ‘ash’. Aside that, you cant tell me that the name ‘ash’ in the list of names was a coincidence, along with pikachu, having a rival whose the grandson of prof oak, living in the same house, with the same dream, in the same timeline (characters from the anime like misty and brock are the same age) with gary also being the first real name on the rival name list, and LITERALLY having the same mother. Why do you think red and ash never meet in the anime?? They always include pretty much every important protagonist in the anime, so why not red? Duh, cause they are the same, and therefore cannot meet. Also, Red and blue are not real names, they created those names to honor the versions, but the canon ones where ash and gary. As much as you say about manga, that universe was largely different from the anime. Also, both ash and red are champions now. Eventually, throughout the anime gary and ash became closer, just as seen in the games, as gary and ash are now always together. The pokemon tv show was made in 1997, imagine being the devs of the games- they just created a pokemon video game, and it bursted with popularity. They wanted to make a TV show so that they could expand the universe better. They wanted it to revolve around the same events as the original pokemon game, they needed a protagonist. Where they gonna create a all-new one? No, they where gonna use the already created one- the original names of the protagonist of PKMN red where: Red, Ash, and Jack. Red was obviously not a good name, so they went with name number 2- ash. They went through the same process with gary. The characters where created and then portrayed in the show. Let me rule out there differences: DIFFERENCES: 1. Ash didnt win the first pokemon league like red did: Red was 14 when he officially won the league, ash remained 10 throughout the whole tv show. Who knows if he will beat the Pokemon league someday? 2. Red is much more powerful than ash: No, hes not. Hes just not. 3. Red doesnt travel with misty or brock: This is because its a old video game, they didnt have the capability to add such elements. Also, to add on TV shows always need more characters, and the video game was more about the players journey than reds. Just because it didnt happen directly in pokemon red, doesnt mean it didn’t happen. 4. Ash traveled to almost all the different regions while red did not: Everyone is just assuming that, clearly he went to unova, and aloha. Who knows where else hes been? 5. Red cant talk/chooses not too: In pokemon johto/yellow when you battle red, he doesnt say anything. Why? Not cause he cant talk, because the scene is the final battle in the game and is meant to be cinematic and emotional, having no words is the best way to do that. In the newer games… id just say they picked up on that, i also heard that they wanted to get people who have never seen the anime something to remember; that he cant talk. Plus, red was 11 in those games, ash as a 10 year old still has LOTS of time to grow into the edgy person red is 6. Red/Blue jacket: Red has a red jacket only to signify his version of pokemon; pokemon red. In other pokemon game merchandise, such as yellow and blue, (minifigures for example) have fully yellow or blue clothes, such as they’re hat and jacket. Also, when the anime was made, it was only made to premote pokemon red and blue, so they let him keep the red hat to resemble red, and changed his jacket to blue to respect pokemon blue players. 7. Ash has zigzag cheeks, red does not: Cmon, of course the full-on TV show will have more look details than the video games will. Especially with the first 8 bit ones. It’s just how things work. Now let us rule out the similarities. SIMILARITIES: 1. They both have the same pokemon 2. They both have the same mother 3. They both have the same rival (grandson of professor oak) 4. They both became champion at some point 5. They are both the original pokemon protagonists 6. They both live in the same house, in the same room 7. They both set off to become pokemon masters, with that being they’re primary goal 8. They are both the strongest pokemon trainers 9. They both look the same (aside from color differences in clothing) 10. They both traveled to the Unova and Alolan region 11. They both have variations of all the starter pokemon (they probably evolved over time) 12. They both have the same story arcs (read the manual to pokemon red/blue) 13. They where both referred to as ‘ash’ in the game manuals Now let’s talk about why Pokemon differentiates these characters so often. Back when they first created Pokémon, they did not care about the characters names, as they didn’t even expect the game to become that popular. So, they just made the first names on the lists- ‘red’ to resemble Pokémon red and ‘blue’ to resemble Pokémon blue. Once they created the series, this was of course changed. But unfortunately the fanbase was already split, some still stuck with the name red, and some loving ash. They had to neutralize it by calling game ash red, but still trying to resemble ash, with the obvious addition of Pikachu and the other starters to his team. Look at super smash bros ultimate, they didn’t want to disappoint anyone so they named red/ash ‘Pokemon trainer’ CONCLUSION: So, is red ash? Yes, there is no reason for otherwise, so until it is absolutely impossible for red to be ash, (such as a straight up confirmation from the devs) he will remain ash in canon. Could i say it was the original intention? Definitely, there is no doubt for that. Could i say that is the intention now? Not really, but they still seem to be sort of clinging on to that idea. So yes, red is ash, and Gary is blue.
@SonicSatamAnimations11 ай бұрын
@Itzmxr I dont think you understand what i am saying. The manga AND the anime are BOTH seperate universes from the GAMES. Also, the writer of the manga and the writer of the anime were two different people, making them both have two different ideas on red. Also, reds jacket was only changed to blue in the anime so that he would represent both pokemon versions, the red hat representing pokemon red, and the blue jacket representing pokemon blue, but it is still red, they just changed his clothing a bit just like all tv shows would do with there main characters. Also, artwork from long ago tend to get colors off alot, so dont expect many pluses there- and by the way… WHO SAID RED IS SERIOUS?? We have absolutely no idea what red acts like, he is only shown in the games as saying things like “…”. IF red is serious and ash is not, it would make sense because red in pokemon johto and yellow is 11 years old (aka 1 year older then ash), meaning that ash may not be silent now, but maybe when ash turns 11 he will start being serious too. And by the way, ash didn’t WIN the Pokémon league at 14, it OFFICIAL, in other words CONFIRMED that he was champion at 14. He is called the champion of the Kanto league in many instances of Pokémon sun/moon and black/white where in those games he is 14. And either way, ash is nor 11 or 14, he is 10, giving him a whole other 1-3 years to become more like his videogame counterpart. Also, let me clear something up, NONE of the characters fit the description of their game counterpart, but they still are their game counterparts, right? Take misty for example, misty in the games never goes on a journey with ash, is 12 years old, (unlike misty from the anime who is 10) and is the only water type gym leader. Also Serena, Serena had a very different story in the games as opposed to her anime form, but it still IS Serena and misty, right? Just like red and ash have there different story’s in the games and anime, but they are still the same.
@SonicSatamAnimations11 ай бұрын
@Itzmxr Look, we both have our different perspectives, but can we at least agree that red is just the video game ash? Just like every other canon video game character that appears in the anime, they are very different from there video game forms. It is all just a TV show adaptation and as far as I’m concerned the TV show is not canon with the games. So, could you at least agree that red and ash are the same person technically, but one is from the video game canon, experiencing a lot different from the one who is from the anime canon? The TV show didn’t care about lore problems, they only thought about the characters bases.

I grew up in an era before the internet spoiled everything, so imagine my reaction when my Pupitar suddenly evolved into a powerful Tyranitar without my knowing of such an evolution. Imagine my shock when my puny Remoraid evolved into a questionable octopus Pokémon that is Octillery. Imagine what I felt after beating the Johto Elite Four and having Kanto open up out of nowhere. Lastly, imagine what I felt when I climbed up to the top of the mountain at the end of Pokémon Gold, wondering what in the world was going on, and encountering Red as the last challenger of this game. This is probably one of the most chilling and at the same time most badass moment in entire pokemon series. After a long journey through Mt. Silver filled with exceptionally high lvl wild pokemon and empty of any trainers, you finally reach the top. The music goes completely quiet. As you go up, you notice someone standing in front of you. Upon closer inspection you find out that it's a main character from original games. You interact with him. All he says is chilling "...". And then the final battle starts. Even the cliche build up sound before battles doesn't play, it's just epic music from champion battle. The moment you see a lvl 81 Pikachu showing up, you know that it's gonna be one heck of a tough fight. God, i love this moment in game so much.

Including all features from both Gens like 251 Pokemon, female protagonists, and breeding. With post-game second regions. 16 Badges. And a final battle on Mt. Silver between Red/Leaf and Gold/Kris. After that, the series ended for ten years. Followed by direct sequels, "Gold & Silver" in 2001 for GBA. With Brendan/May & Lucas/Dawn as new protagonists. With 242 new Pokemon(493 in total) and trade compatibility between GB & GBA. With Hoenn and Sinnoh in the main games, and then Johto & Kanto in the post-game. With a 10-year timeskip, 32 Badges and a final battle against each other and then Red/Leaf & Gold/Kris in Double Battles. After that, the series ended again, but this time it's permanent. I was wondering why Red had an Espeon, but then I researched it and you get Espeon by leveling up your Eevee with high friendship (during the day). Sure, it might be just something unintended by the developers, but it actually makes a lot of sense and shows just how strong the bond between Red and his Pokémon is after all those years pass.

Really? It does make sense if I think about it. Conquring Johto Then replay Kanto all the way through Get all 8 badges there Finding the original protagonist from Gen 1 standing atop the mountain in between both regions He never says anything before or after the fight All of his starters are high levels He disappears after the fight, leaving your character standing there as the true champion Yeah, I guess it does make sense that it would have been the final game, and Red as the final boss. Even with that abrupt disappearance of Red, and then the credits play out.

That really is incredible to think about. I think us being deprived of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald + Fire Red/Leaf Green remakes would have been a loss for the world, but there’s no doubt Pokemon has spread itself too thin with the soulless garbage cash grab it has sadly become.

I remember when I was younger (roughly when the original Hoenn games were the most recent gen), and playing my cousin's Gold version for him (he wasn't able to for hard to explain circumstances). Basically I just wandered around Mt Silver since I wasn't entirely sure what to do, and somehow I ended up finding Red in his spot. Keep in mind that my knowledge of Pokemon lore at this point was, shall we say, lacking. The internet wasn't readily available at the time either. In other words, I was caught totally off guard by this quiet young boy, who suddenly wanted to battle and was clearly not to be trifled with. Somehow, despite not knowing what exactly I was doing, I managed to beat Red on my first try. I never encountered this guy before that point, and I still was unsure what precisely had happened. I never realized just _how_ difficult Red was until the Internet and KZbin were more readily available. I felt oddly accomplished, despite the fact I'm certain it was a mere fluke. That memory has oddly stuck with me after all these years. Watching this video made me remember the whole thing, though. And if you're wondering, no I never did tell my cousin about Red.

Story time from the perspective of someone born in 2002. Man, it really sucks that I never grew up with this type of stuff. I'm one of the people who got into Pokemon too late. My brother hogged the Game Boy so he could keep playing Pokemon Yellow. He played it so much that he broke it somehow to the point where he couldn't save and all the sprites were replaced with black boxes. We gave it away after that (Or maybe it's still in the attic, but it's probably junk now). My brother also played in secret the second generation just so I wouldn't piggyback on him. But that would've been pointless anyway since Game Boy Colors were coming to an end, so I've never even HEARD of G/S/C until the end of elementary school. And even before that fiasco, my brother also hogged Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. (He had all 3 of them and wouldn't let me play one because he thought I'd mess up his precious file the he completed so many times. Spoiled brat much?) Due to such an annoyance, I was never able truly see the beauty of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation of Pokemon. My first ever Pokemon game was Pearl and Platinum, so the 4th generation holds a special place in my heart. I've played through the aforementioned generations, but... nothing clicks. They're great games don't get me wrong, but they're not at their peak anymore. Main Point: I just wish I was a big Pokemon fanatic back then so I can battle tough trainers like this! Sure emulators exist, but it's not the same. If I battle Red right now, I'll level up my Pokemon about 1 or 2 levels lower because I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I just wanna go back in time and be that kid who discovers Red and has to keep trying a couple of times. It would make winning very satisfying and make me feel proud for beating the toughest trainer. Nowadays, beating Red isn't even something that would boost your ego. He's just a nuisance in nuzlockes, randomizers, or both now. I wish I was there with the hype that was "Did you defeat Red yet? He's so tough! I can't do it!" Now it's all about EV training and whatnot. End of story/mini rant. Continue on with your day.

It took me 62 total hours to beat this game and 20 of those were spent training for this fight alone. We literally go from fighting trainers in the Lvl 40s to a guy who's opening Pokémon is Lvl 81. Blue's the second strongest Trainer in the region and his strongest Pokémon is barely around the same Level as Red's weakest. The sheer fact he forces to train and train hard before you can even stand a chance against his *first* Pokémon truly makes it feel like this is less of a battle and more like it's the final and by far the hardest stretch you have to climb to finish scaling a mountain. This combined with the incredible levels of nostalgia this fight invokes easily makes Red my favourite Final Boss in all of Videogame history.

Blue Hunter You're bad. I beat him with a level 70 scyther and victreebell, and a level 55 dragonite. The fact you needed a tyranitar on your team when he is only catchable as the first form in mt silver, shows you were trash.
@ryanblack36866 жыл бұрын
Blue Hunter actually, no. That wasn't even the original game, cuz you bad gard and gallade. You are even more trash. The remake is so much easier than the original

Honestly gen 2 was the best Pokemon generation. Not only its 2 region 16 gym leaders in one game but the fact that you can fight the representation of your past self is great. I wished they pulled this off on Bw and Bw2 where somewhere in Unova you can fight who every your character back in Bw using memory link. seeing gen 2 is like the sequel of gen 1.

Being the kid I was, I really only trained like 2 or 3 Pokémon, and the rest were HM slaves. Seeing Red at the top of that mountain and talking to him was my biggest mistake.

Considering Gen 2 was originally planned to be the end of Pokémon, this technically would’ve been THE most legendary and difficult battle the series would’ve had. You can kind of tell this was meant to be THE final boss of Pokémon.

Man. I was 14 when my parents bought me Pokemon Gold. I'd beaten Pokemon Red and did EVERYTHING you possibly could in that game. Missingno, Mew, beaten it a million times, ghost city, walk over walls. All of it. Played it everyday. Verifiable caught every single one of the 151 pokemon. Glitchless? No. But I did it. And I was very very fond of my character. Gold was just a better game. It was too amazing. Played it for years, beat all 16 Gym leaders and NEVER CLIMBED SILVER MOUNTAIN BECAUSE I WAS A LAME 14 YEAR OLD WHO DESPISED READING! I'd played the game for maybe a year, Elite four was beaten. 16 badges. Blue. I felt great. Trained everyday, fought my friends at school with the cable. When I, at 15, finally stumbled upon the new path to Mt. Silver and made it to the top. And I saw that guy at the top. I saw me, waiting for me. I realized what it all meant. 13 year old me from Red, a Pokemon Master in his own right. Staring down 2 years of progress, 15 year old me, a now supposedly superior trainer. When I spoke to Red and the dots came even 15 year old me was shaking with excitement because we BOTH KNEW what it meant. No words had to be spoken, nothing had to be exchanged. Who is the very best in this land. I've been waiting for you to get here. So damn cool.
@123Mathzak5 жыл бұрын
How sick would it have been to have an option when you started Gold/Silver to upload your Red/Blue team, but you couldn’t use them “until the time was right”. So you go through the 8 gyms, Elite Four, the Kanto 8, you’ve beaten everyone you can possibly think of. But then, at the top of Mt Silver, standing before you is Red, not only the same trainer, but he has the same 6 you uploaded at the start of the game. And then once you’ve beaten him, you get your old team back to combine with your new one to become the ultimate trainer. How badass would that have been?

@RasenKamehamehaX1005 жыл бұрын
@@jupiterbrando Well, I'm pretty sure the Let's Go games is going to be a new set of remakes for each gen, if so, Let's Go's sequels might implement this idea. We know the hardware to do something like this is very possible now with games like Mass Effect and the Telltale series using data from past saved data to affect later games.
@pivotdgs89555 жыл бұрын
Yeet but you could just not even train your pokemo- Oh wait but i think you should get that option at the end of the game. Because you can just unlevel your pokemon and then beat Red easily.
