Bellum was such a fascinating and unique antagonist. He represented and manifested the same harrowing lust for power as good old Ganon himself, but without the reason. Just a monstrous entity with an insatiable craving for strength. But what I did not expect towards the end of this game was Bellum’s cunning. Knowing that Linebeck was a friend and ally of Link, he attaches himself and becomes one with him, meaning that in order for Link to further harm Bellum… he’d also have to risk harming Linebeck. Such a devious and brilliant play.

I always loved this fight. One of the best final bosses in the series. I love how Ciela mentions at the beginning of the fight that Link seemed worried he might have to kill or hurt Linebeck to stop Bellum.

Yeah it's really fucking dark to be honest... I love it! Makes Bellum quite scary, and even if he's cliché i still love him as a simple "evil monster" type villain, always did!

Okay I know I've commented twice but this deserves the recognition of how expertly composed this theme is: The beginning is a dramatic rendition of the theme of when a Phantom spots you, which runs beneath the main melody throughout; following this is the twisted yet recognisable reprise of Linebeck's theme - then suddenly transforming into Bellum's theme before the track loops. This song is a literal fusion of the elements that make up the final boss - Linebeck and the Phantoms' letimotifs, held together by Bellum's power. PH may have a weaker OST compared to it's fellow Toon Link games of WW and ST - but holy shit did they go out with a bang with this song. Phantom Hourglass deserves so much more appreciation.

I've realised something, Linebeck, Jack Sparrow and captain K'nuckles from Flapjack are all similar, they all have dealt with a squid/octopus monster (Bellum, Kraken, Eight-Armed Willy), and they also have a young protegé (Link, Will Turner, Flapjack).

Yeah. I though it was awesome that they made Linebeck the final boss of the game. Granted, he fought you because he was possessed by Bellum, but it was still an awesome moment, since he became possessed the *one* time he finally shows courage and even attempted to save Link.

Took me a second to realise how to get at him, and that I had to wait, but man I loved every second of it. Aside from his spinny cyclone attack thing. Never figured out how to avoid that

Years later this song still brings me to tears i remember growing attached to linebeck his character development throughout the game then when he stood against bellum when link was in danger. I remember feeling scared id have to kill him. So i shut off the game andcame back a few days later ready for what could come when the final blow was dealt and linebeck was ok i literally cried because of how scared i was. All that talk of bellum stealing people's life force actually made me think linebeck would die. Then old man oshus revealing himself as the great ocean spirit cant say i was expecting it. Something about him was just off.

Drawing the Figure 8 form which starts off from the top-left, to the bottom-right portion of the Touch Screen isn't that difficult. You just have to remember what the clues told you to do by writing numbers 1 through 4 where the stone tablets were in the 6th Basement Floor of The Temple of the Ocean King.

Amo esta melodía, me llena de nostalgia, Linebeck es un grande, pese a ser un miedoso toda la aventura, poco a poco va cambiando, inspirándose de Link, hasta que un día llega hasta el punto de arriesgar la vida por nosotros sabiendo que es la única posibilidad de vencer a Bellum, me acuerdo que de niño no podía combatir contra el jefe final, no sólo por su fuerza, sino porque sabía que era Linebeck poseído😭. None of Linebeck is exposed thanks to the armor, and Bellum himself occupies the back, the usual weak point of the Phantom armor. In other words, you have no way of actually hurting Linebeck. He was only a little woozy because he was abruptly released from Bellum's control

So I'm odd and ended up playing Spirit Tracks first. I was so excited about driving a train for some reason, but I'm glad that young me had that irrational thought because it let me experience games that a lot of people apparently bashed on without actually playing it, which is very unfortunate in Spirit Tracks case. For PH, I'm not sure how I feel about it over all. It was fun for sure, but having played it after Spirit Tracks probably effected how I felt about it.

fun fact this is the first zelda final boss i beat (atleast if you only count this phase) Sad to think that during this game my mom did most of that (and beat Bellum the first time) and in the second game i had to do the endgame alone (ergo everything from the last temple visit the dark world and Maladeus)
