After using Vegas for 10 years and messing up with the shortcuts I can't live without them anymore! So after moving to FCPX I instantly changed the shortcuts and you should too! This is my BEFORE = SHORTCUT CTRL + Z == 1 CMD + B == 2 DELETE == 3 SHIFT + RIGHT == 4 So my left hand basically doesn't move, 1234 and I'm all set =)

Use the range tool (R) for selecting an area where you want to paste (Q) something. In your case the adjustment layer or title. Just select the area and press Q. the footage will appear exactly on the selected area. But you gave me some good tips! I loved your video.

Thanks for this beautiful 'illustrated-fact-filled' video. Wasn't much interested in using shift+[ ] commands in the past, but, after seeing this video, I will try to use it more often! Also, I just loved your method of adjusting the zoom by scaling down the video to 25% and then making the adjustments! I am blessed with your videos. May God bless you abundantly.

New subscriber here. I like your style of teaching, it's very easy to follow. I just received my new iMac and installed Final Cut and Motion. I've been using Filmora which is extremely limiting and it will nice to take off the shackles. It's been 6 years since I've used Final cut and version 10 seems a bit different. I am sure I will get back to my old self with your help.

1:30 especially for people who are new to editing.. it may be worth changing the name of the video and audio so that they match (are the same). Like video & 1 audio 1. You could even add a shorter version of your project name, so that you are sure you have the right files in FCPX! I Once matched the wrong audio with the wrong video and was like... Never again!! Thanks so much for this video 👍🏿 Workflow is everything 💯

Good morning Marcos, I'm Dr Somanna from Hyderabad! I am new to Multicam editing. I am shooting videos of my church sermons that are delivered in English and are translated into Telugu and Hindi. I am using 5 cameras: one for each speaker, one for side wide and the other for a straight wide angle. I am also individually capturing audio from each speaker onto separate devices. I am trying to learn about assigning roles to the various video and audio files so that it will help me down the line while editing the Multicam clip. Each sermon is about 1 hour in duration and I am bringing out 3 versions of the sermon: one in English, and the other two are English-Telugu and English to Hindi. I want to know whether you have made any easy to understand videos [like the one here] about the importance and usefulness of deploying roles and subroles [don't exactly know what use a subrole has]?

Brilliant, helpful video. Quick one on the default title - CTRL-T. For me this brings up FCPX's basic title which randomly doesn't allow me to keyframe it in any way. Is this a bug? I know you can change the default to whichever one you want. Did you just make a basic one of your own?

Awesome channel!! You could save a few clicks here and there still... if you keyframe it once for example, you don't have to click again, just change the value and it will automatically create a keyframe. Also, if you start with hitting a keyframe on the destiation point and then move the starting point with adding the 2nd keyfarme, you save even more clicks :).. Thanks for this informative video. I look forward to seeing more!

You should stack up the videos one above the other and decide whether you want to place the three clip sections vertically or horizontally on the screen. Trim each clip from the sides and reposition them if you want the three scenes to be side by side. Otherwise, trim each clip at both top and bottom and position the clips one above the other as you would love to have them. Regards. Dr. Somanna

@MarcosRochaTV

It all depends how much video files you have. If you have a lot of footage, Video files can quickly fill up 3TB. I shoot a lot of Video and I have an 8TB External Hard Drive where I store all my files. I would highly recommend getting a 1TB or a 2TB External Hard Drive where you keep all your video files and you edit off of that. Then see how quickly it fills up.

Hi Marcos, so many good tips in this video. I love what you say about workflow. It is critical. For my workflow I keep my whole FCP library on my Lacie Drive. FCP automatically opens the Library right from the Lacie Drive. By importing my footage into FCP it is really going into the library stored on my Lacie. I setup my events and projects as normal in FCP and all my footage is right there. What is the benefit of setting up individual folders in your Lacie? Really appreciate your advice here. I might be missing something.

Hi Marcos, I am sooooooooo psyched. Up until now I have been manually syncing audio and video. Never knew about the sync feature. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Yessssssss! As for the folder system I must be missing something. All of my footage is organized into events in FCP. In each event there is all my footage plus any projects I create. FCP is easily searchable and highly organized. It all rests, sort of like how photos does it, in one file grows and grows and I have sitting in my Lacie. Hmmmm.

whats the best workflow in editing a wedding with 3 or more cameras without having to sync multicam clip ? meaning in a wedding we have portions that has no sound , and requires manually culling footage .. whats the best way to organize so its quicker to go through all cameras and dragging the clips to the timeline

I definitely waste so much time using my mouse. Any links for the keyboard shortcuts?

I don't use a lot of keyboard shortcuts, but I will make something soon and release it on this channel.

I'm coming from years of professional editing for local TV shows on AVID Media. Final Cut Pro X just feels weird lol. I'm learning the program for fun and personal use, but still frustrated that I can do most of these things super quickly on AVID media.

Hi Marcos, Great info here! Do you have tutorials on the skimmer and drop zones? I trying to put a video collage together with a plugin and I'm having trouble syncing the videos together.

I really love the technique you used to edit your video. I tried using the same keys to edit a voice over audio clip in my video but it kept cutting and making changes in the clip and not the audio. I had to keep clicking on the audio to make sure the keys made the changes on the audio and not the video. Do you have any suggestions ?

It defaults to the main clip and not the audio. You have to select the audio like you said.

okay, i figured they'd have a short cut for that. Would you recommend keys in that case o would it be faster using the mouse ?

I don't know of a shortcut for that. I usually sync my audio with my video clips and then I group them together by creating a Compound Clip.

I always film my voice overs after I edit the video so that doesn't exactly work for me, hopefully apple gives us a way.
