How can I move Library files from different Hard drives into one without lossing the files?
@RotterStudios3 жыл бұрын
Great video. I have an iMac 2020, 32 GB ram, SSD and I have chosen to edit to an external SSD usb c drive. You would think the ssd external usb C drive would be really fast.....but....the internal SSD on the iMac is much faster and rendering is faster so I may go back to editing on the iMac SSD and saving the library to the external usb c drive when done, for archiving. have you seen this?

So at 4:20 you said “I’m going to show you how all this stuff works in another video”. That would be a good place to link the other video with a card or something because I want to know about all that stuff but I don’t know where your video on it is.

Hi Mark - great video! I love the effect of having your screen capture look like it's inside the Macbook. 😉 I agree that the file structure of FCP/iMovie can be a bit confusing - that was something I struggled with at first too, so it's nice to see it broken down. I now have a Finder template I use for my videos that has a Library file already set up with some of my video assets that I use every time (like name callout, graphics, music, etc.) and then I keep my footage in there - on an external drive of course! - so it's all a lot cleaner when I bring it into FCP. That's probably more advanced than the audience for this video, but I like how you're presenting all the tips. Have a fantastic day!

Hey Laurie thanks, yes I thought I'd add that to change it up a bit! Yes it's something which doesn't seem natural to setup, yes that's a great idea, I'm still a little messy to be honest a file structure is a great way to improve your workflow

Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I have all my video, Libraries, Projects, etc. on an external 24TB Pegasus hard drive. Only problem I have is that I can't "Leave Files in Place", it's greyed out in the import window. Other folders/media are fine. Any idea's? Thanks again, appreciate all your video's! 👍😊

I have never been so confused with anything on my computer before. I am making a music video which isn't done but in the meantime i'd like to work on another project for a youtube video. No matter what I do it just erases my music video whenever I start a new project, event, or library and I have to command Z to get it back. I'm about to hulk smash this entire system....why on earth can I not just have multiple projects the same as in logic pro....? All i want to do is close down my music video and click new and have a fresh timeline to use but then simply be able to go back into my files and open the music video project again when it's time like literally every computer program ever made can do. This is so insane. What am I possibly missing? I've watched countless videos and absolutely nothing is helping such a simple and stupid issue.

Final Cuts System is clear as Mud. This three step process is not logical. Not your fault.
@editorskeys4 жыл бұрын
Hey Juan Yes I think it should be made into one step. New Project, you can then choose to save it, and once it's created if you want to create events, you can.
@nomadcurator4 жыл бұрын
@@editorskeys 100 percent agree. Have a new project file and then maybe if you are Casey Neistat have the ability to have easy access to the clips from the past under this project. The Library should be just the main folder for all data related to final cut. The library could be broken down by year or however you want it. I think using the term events creates confusion. Great videos! You will hit 100k soon.
@RotterStudios3 жыл бұрын
yeah, I NEVER USE EVENTS. JUST library and project.
