Final Doom for me is a nice challenge but not too difficult like those silly slaughter wads out there. But I've played so long that Doom 1 and 2 are kinda easy for me

I owned final doom as a kid, but I'm so glad i did not play it until I was older. Currently on lvl 26 of plutonia in ultra violence. While it's overtuned in difficulty, I personally find it funner than tvt evilution with its long boring levels.

I don't think the comment about rocket damage being higher on UV is correct. The main thing that changes from difficulty level to difficulty level is the placement of monsters and ammo. I'm Too Young To Die does halve the damage you take, iirc, but the other skill levels leave those values alone.

I know I'm late to the party but both Plutonia and TNT were created by Milo and Dario Casali. Team TNT was the Casali Brothers' nickname when developing TNT. Fun fact: Dario Casali went on to work on Half-Life and still works for Valve to this day!

Team TNT was not a nickname for the Casali Brothers, they were actual team with people other than the brothers. They just happened to be a part of that team. Team TNT also created the BOOM sourceport.

The secret levels are usually skipped when you do a UV speed run. They only do them if it"s faster than going to the normal exit. For example Doom II runs up until recently would go through Map 31 to get to Map 16 because it was quicker than going through the normal exit. Since the discovery of the new switch trick Map 31 can be skipped also.

@@gibustheinfamous It doesn't really play like Doom to be honest. The category would be incredibly niche because Doom speedrunning is based on a lot of tricks specific to vanilla Doom or the Boom engine. Brutal Doom requires to be run with GZDoom. Another note is that it completely throws off the balance of weapons and enemies that is essential to Doom. Also the Doom community at large isn't really into Brutal Doom the way game's journalists and youtubers are, or were, considering it isn't such a hot topic these days. Personally, I don't enjoy it, I prefer the simplicity of classic doom. I think it's more fun and even therapeutic. Also all of the greatest megawads weren't built with brutal doom in mind.

@@eggboy9126 also, what I've read is that the Creator is somewhat of an unfavorable person. I'm sure that's another reason why Brutal Doom is not particularly liked.
