FINAL DRAFT Review: Screenwriting Software 2022

I started out with Movie Magic, then Fade In, which has been my main solid, dependable choice for the last 8 years or so, but I would love for you (or someone else) to do a review/comparison on Drama Queen, which I've been test-driving recently. I think it's very powerful and yet under-rated. I'd love to hear from others who've used it as well. Thanks.

i’m having trouble with fdx 12 on my m2 mac mini. the dreaded beach ball keeps randomly appearing shutting down the software and when i restart nothings saved. anyone else have this problem and hopefully a fix?

My main concern is reliability. Word seems reliable up to 300+ pages of complex text and images. Does Final Draft crash or have any other bugs?

I've found it to be very reliable. It occasionally has issues like any software, so I'd suggest making backups and turning on auto-save.

i was looking for a video on final draft vs studio builder. im a film student t full sail using final draft. just saw studio builder in class today. any thoughts?

Do you mean Studio Binder? It's not the best, tbh. If you've already got FD, you're set.

Two questions: 1. If i have a script written in another software, can I copy/paste it into Final Draft and keep the formating or do I need to write it line by line again? 2. Can I have multiple characters talk simultaneously by having their lines next to each other rather than one after the other?

FD should be able to interpret most (if not all) of your previous formatting, depending on the file type that you import. Yes, you can have dual column dialogue.

Thanks for this video - helped a lot! Hoover, why do I purchase it on a computer and have to purchase again if I want to download it on my phone? Is there a way of avoiding this?

The mobile app is more of a "connector" to the main desktop app so you can sync scripts across devices. Most people don't write exclusively on their phone, so I think that's why they expect the mobile app to be an add-on. I think the mobile app is only like $10, too.

@@NBK88_IL_IND Hmm. I'm guessing your question is about formatting? A TV show is almost identical to a spec script expect most contain Act breaks with Act headings on a new page. Is that what you mean?

I've always used celtx great software but a bit pissed with them after years. I know Final Draft so I will revisit the option

Final Draft seems to be somewhat racist or classist. A few black students from the hood have been trying to get the "academic version," but Final Draft is ignoring their requests! There are tons of black actors, writers, and producers out here who support the company. They should stop their racism.
