In the pixel remaster, i went to become adult, get the slab in the water temple,cleared tiamat before Kraken then went on to kill Marilith , and in the pixel remaster their intro sentence acknowledge if you have beaten the other fiend (marilith stated that i had beaten the fiend of earth water and wind)

After doing everything in order on my very first run of the game when it released on the NES, I have always beaten Marilith last after that. Even now (I still replay this one 1-2x each year) I get the canoe, then the airship, and then I beat Tiamat, followed by Kraken (takes a little backtracking and the upper floors of the Sea Shrine, but eh), and the I beat Marilith. I find that a much more enjoyable experience personally.

Fantastic video! So much effort put into this. Just FYI, certain items glitched onto a character's shield slot can cause the game to crash if the character tries to block an enemy in battle. It doesn't happen for every item, but it is something to keep in mind. Save often. Also, you can get a Leather Cap to glitch into a Judgment Staff before the first Chaos fight in the Shrine.

Ah yes, my first RPG, but not the first one I ever completed. No, I was young when this first came out, and hadn't gotten the hang of the concept of Grinding yet. And as such, the Marsh Cave stonewalled me for the longest time. Then came (IV) and it's Lodestone Cave, which again stonewalled me for years until I realized that only metal armor and weapons were effected, and I needed to slum it with low level gear. It wasn't until (VI) that I completed a Final Fantasy game during the era of it's release. I finally beat FFIV on the PSP, and the first game on original NES hardware out of pure spite during the Wii era. So basically, my Arch Nemesis in this series is the Dark Elf.

The Magnetic Cave is one of my favorite segments in any FF game because it does force you back to basics. You have to be a little more resourceful (since FF4 isn't exactly lauded for its difficulty). Tellah has practically all the spells that matter, but a garbage MP pool, so you have to be sparing. Cecil's role is challenged most of all, and I really thought it was cool that your leader and heavily-armored tank needed to hang back and use his limited white magic to keep everyone going since his armor and sword were useless in your item bag.

I normally break sequence in this one by getting the class upgrade before going to the volcano, which I do by getting the airship. You can take this a step further by taking the pirate ship to the citadel of trials, but you still need the airship to see Bahamut.
@ryanevong9282 жыл бұрын
This is how I did it. Get canoe, go to ice cave, get float thing, get airship, go to castle of ordeal, get tail, go to bahamut. Takes a lot of running and re-loading (especially on the harder games) but it was super fun to do 3\4" of the game with class upgrades

@Shiirow3 жыл бұрын
FF2 is the one where you get OP in a legitimate manner, with clever use of game mechanics. in this video its all about exploiting glitches in the coding. most FF games have some sort of way to really powerful fairly early on if you put in the effort. Like in FF6, once you get to the returners hideout, and reach the waterway behind it, the second checkpoint is a literal infinite loop. if you have cursor set to memory, a small clothing button, and a rubber band. you can set it to automatically choose the loop over and over against, use the button to press down controller button, and rubber band it in place. then just let it play overnight. When you wake up, your characters will be around Lv 80 but to get to 99 it will require a full day. You think, great three characters to Lv 99. Nope, the way the game works is, all characters you havent met, their levels are dependent on your current level of your party. So If they are Lv 99, any new party members are as well. Meaning you power leveled nearly every single character in the game before you met them, except Locke, whom you met but is away due to story beats.

The first version of FF I've ever played was FF1 of Dawn of souls, I personally loved making my party, Warrior, Monk, White mage, and Black mage. Monks can do some insane damage with buffs like haste later in the game usable with the black mage and the Giant's gauntlets, I've killed the final boss in a couple hits like that, Also don't bother with spells like Null frost because it will always miss later in the game due to wearing anti status affect equipment like the protect ring and the ribbon.

@weberman1733 жыл бұрын
funnily enough, in the original version its actualy detremental to get to the class change early if you had a monk in your party, as the monk, as the ONLY class, ACTUALY gets worse upgraded, everything remains the same except a single hidden stat(i think its called magic ressistance or something) having a worse growth as a Master(or whatever the advanced Class of monk is called) making the monk more and more gimmped in that regard the earlier you class changed into master and the higher your level went
@sirundying2 жыл бұрын
@@weberman173 its not about changing early or not, its just the fact that the upgraded version was worst for the monk.

In the PSP version, you can get items that permanently boost stats so you could max your stats out. It just wouldn't really do much good outside of maybe Strength and Agility for the mages. Also, for that added layer of invincibility, the fixed encounter at the end of the Citadel of Trials against Dragon Zombies has chance to drop Megalixirs. Very rarely but at least you can fight them over and over again instantly.

I know you said you wanna do things in order but you can do all this before the earth crystal too. You just need to do everything RIGHT up to the Lich fight, like kill the vampire, then turn around and head out and you can fully explore the world and do the shrines in reverse order (you need to at least start the water shrine like you said though). But you don't need to wait to the fire crystal. The Lich can be the last demon you face.

The perfect stat growth is the main reason why I never attempted to perfect save FFI, as of yet. I have the PS1 version, where it caps at LV 50, so that cuts the time down. But still... This and the enemy drops in FF4 are just two big hurdles I'm not willing to deal with. I might actually Gameshark those in, if I really want to have them... Ninja is strictly inferior to Knight in terms of damage and defenses and EQUAL in speed, but the _difference_ between a non-upgraded Thief and an upgraded Ninja is way more than that between a Fighter and a Knight. Like a Fighter starts at 80 and goes to 100, a Thief starts at 50 and goes to 85 or 90 and the coolness factor of having a ninja is worth it for most people; having a second Fighter instead of a Thief is a safer and more reliable play, but more aesthetic team diversity is cooler. I can buy the cool factor of the ninja making it _feel_ superior to the Warrior/Knight. Glad you enjoy it.

What I liked about ff1 was the difficulty level. You had to plan your potions and heals in the dungeons. You could only explore so far before having to head back to heal and save. Games today heal you after every battle and auto save. There's no tactical play anymore.

@tamerkoh Жыл бұрын
I've always found this to be quite the exaggeration for people talking about the NES and PS1 versions. They aren't hard at all, they just REQUIRE you to grind, and thus really pad out the play time. Cross the next bridge to the next area, find out the enemies can kill you in 3 hits, so you go back and grind until your max HP is high enough that you can take at least 5 or 6 hits before moving on. That's not challenging, that's just artificial lengthening of an otherwise short game, lol. Even more so required on the NES original, where there are so many broken mechanics, you have to compensate with stats for things not working correctly.

The 'peninsula of power' is about the only real way to get OP early in the original, as far as I'm aware. And you can do that before you even get the ship. Other than that, you can get the airship before Kary (Marilith) and get your class promotions just the same as here, but there are no Phoenix Downs and the Life spell can only be used outside of battle, so the Ice Cave and Castle of Ordeals are a lot more dangerous. Not to mention the extremely limited spell slots. Alternately to the PoP, in the Earth Cave there's an arm on the western side of the first floor that has nothing but giant and iguana encounters, up to two of each per fight, so you don't have to worry about ice wolves.

Class Change, Max Level, Best Magic, Best Equipment(Including Excalibur but not the Masamune). How? Before the Volcano, you get the canoe. The canoe allows you to access the Ice Cave to get the Float Stone which, in turn, allows you to get the airship. The airship allows you to complete the Class Change Side Quest(You just need the ship and the canoe to do most of it, you just need the airship to turn it in), as well as access the rest of the game, up to the final dungeon(That's where the Masamune is.)

Replaying FF1 Now. Watching this video on a break, it’s crazy I knew none of these things.

Without even watching the video Im gonna tell you just how overpowered you can get... Max powered. At Crescent Lake you get the canoe. In the riverways around Crescent Lake you have two primary destination, Mt. Gulg and the Ice Cavern. The game expects you to goto Mt. Gulg where you restore the Fire Crystal but if you instead can make it to the Ice Cavern you can get the Floater or Levistone. Once you have that you can obtain the airship and open up the rest of the map. Furthermore, having the canoe also always you to be able to reach the Citadel of Trials. Within is the Rats Tail. With that and the air ship you find Bahamut and get your job change, unlocking new equipment and spell options. You now also have access to the towns in the north where you can equip better gear and obtain spells and work on leveling. You can even obtain the Oxyale and go down into the Water Shrine to find the Rosetta Stone in order to learn Lufenian, which you need in order to obtain the chime and enter the Mirage Tower. If you go to the waterfall north of the Water Temple you can find a robot with the Cube. With the Chime and Cube you could get up into the Floating Fortress and find the Adamantine to take back to the dwarves and have Excalibur forged. Along the way pick up the Zeus gauntlet that lets you cast Bolt 2, the Mage Staff that casts Fire 2 and the Black Shirt that casts Ice 2. Also two Healing Helme and a Healing Staff that cast Heal 2. You could walk into Mt. Gulg for the first time Lv 40 and decked out for end.

As someone who's first game ever was Final Fantasy 1, you should have used a thief instead of two warriors. Thieves get more attacks per turn much faster than anyone else does. Yes, they're limited to light weapons, but that means waaayyy more crits. Edit: Wouldn't have mattered once you got *Flare*.

Tbh, besides the glitches, this really isn't anything out of the ordinary. Even in the NES version, you can easily fight Kary as the last thing you do right before the last dungeon.

FF1 is probably the easiest FF to max level on, just a shame doing it before jobs means lower stats overall

I made it to the final dungeon on the ps1 edition... and then had to return the game to the friend I borrowed it from.. sad face.. but I did manage to beat the 4th crystal before the 3rd crystal.. because I got lost in the 3rd dungeon and couldn't find my way forward.. so I left and explored and found my way to the 4th and finished it.

Heh, given you can do the Water, Air, and Fire Crystals in any order, you can get max level and best equipment for your characters before Fire Crystal, so this is a ridiculous question.
