FF12's version of Watera and Waterga along with Aerora are monster exclusive for some reason. That kinda triggers me too. Although the "-ja" levels of stuff (except curaja) being enemy exclusive make sense cause they're just reskins of our concurrences anyway

I’m similarly bothered that Jump existed already as a Technick that Bangaas and Imps use, but they didn’t feel the need to allow the player to use it with Uhlan.

You’re thinking of the Harm/Dia spells in FF1, I think, they were like Holy but weaker and only work on undead enemies but could hit all enemies where Holy is only single target and hurts everything.

1:02 funny you mentioned that considering you fight Espers that can use Stoneja and Waterja (respectively) in this dungeon but Bahamut forbid you get access to even mid-tier earth and water elemental spells without motes. FFXII is an awesome game but the elemental balancing is just awful e.g; many "balloon" enemies are weak to water but due to only getting the tier one water spell and aqua shot being lacking (due to balloon enemies resisting gun damage) you're options for reliable water damage are so limited that you're much better off just brutal forcing with shock/scathe or raw weapon damage.

Aquara Motes are severely underrated, but there’s also the Murasame or Fumarole with Water Bombs. Oh, and Iga Blade.

Also, that fish boss.... Imagine Ardor on that thing while Oil was active. Also, I don't remember if there's fire element arrows for bows. If so, Seitengrat with oil and fire arrows would probably oneshot that boss even on weak mode given the damage formulas.

Ardor + Oil is straight overkill tbh. Firaga does enough, especially with the Faith enhancement.

If you want to get Reddas out of the party, turn your gambits off, equip the Nihopalaoa, and use a Gold Needle on him.

This is a great series, I love playthroughs with some kind of challenge in place. Makes things more interesting for sure. And that being said, have you ever considered trying a no crystarium run for 13 or 13-2?

Dansg08 recently did something similar: the Escape from Gran Pulse challenge. It's actually hard since you gotta go through 3 tricky bosses at what's basically Level 1. Your only source of enhancement are the accessories, and it requires you to grind a LOT of mats and gil just to get past those bosses. Idk how feasible this would be beyond Barthandelus 2....

Iirc white mages in FF3 could learn Aero but it's been a while since I've played 3

Yes, Aero started as a White Magic spell in FF3 then it became Blue Magic in FF5 and FF6. It was enemy only in FF7 and FF9, debatable that it’s “Black Magic” in FF8, since there aren’t any classes in that game. FF12 is the first game in the series to officially call it Black Magic.
