I see it as poorly written Ultima Thule. Because if I'm not mistaken... didn't we ALREADY go through this? Like they even constantly said lines from Close in the Distance and instead of the Scions going away 1 by 1 it's some people that we had ONE QUEST to get to know before deleting them. Making the emotion and message feel lifeless? Maybe that's what they were going for with the endless knowing no loss or death, and not truely being alive (which they also had to tell you over and over again). Anyways Sorry if I rambled I finished dawntrail yesterday and the disapointmet is still very fresh.

@@Ephemeral96 as i said the disappointment was fresh, had a thousand thoughts an hour and was just rambling. But I still don't understand why we only had one quest to get to know Kriles parents how we are supposed to feel bad for Otis when we barely spent time with him along with any of the NPCs. I was comparing the fact that we KNEW the scions when they had to sacrifice themself while these people, although sad, sure didn't really have any time to truly get to know what made them special to begin with. it just felt like we should have gone into living memory as soon as we got to the door, to actually have time to explore and know what it was like before all the people and color is erased. instead of at the very end where everything seemed like it was just for padding the play time till you fight Spheen. I hope this makes my thoughts a bit more clear.

You cant bring back the dead, and the sections of the map getting shut down represent that. The 13th wasnt dead, just stagnated with Dark aspected aether. This zone, everyone is gone. We cant bring them back

Perhaps restoring it as a park to learn about the history of Alexandrians without the problem of the Endless. It would be nice if a tribe quest was about restoring the area but not the people, for the current Alexandrians to use for tourism and such

@@4felix8 I didn't really feel like it was necessary in my opinion. Throughout the story of FFXIV there have been multiple situations where the Scions have manipulated souls and extensively studied other research on transferring souls, etc. so it just felt inconsistent and pointless for us to have been forced the literally snuff out an entire civilization when there was easily more that could have been done. To me it felt more like the entire problem just boiled down to a huge case of miscommunication where Sphene absolutely refused to talk further and all the Scions just conveniently forgot everything that has happened in previous expansions that involved transferring and manipulating souls.

What is specifically unsustainable are the /Endless themselves./ It shouldn't be unfeasible to turn Living Memory into an actual amusement park/museum of history for real, living people. It would probably be less aether intensive than the Gold Saucer too, if it were purely just the electrope glamours and ride mechanisms. Reclaiming something isn't necessarily a bad thing or a refusal to let go. It's the people that insist we should bring back the Endless in their entirety who are a little bit loopy.

Maybe a custom delivery NPC, but I don't see any of the 3 tribes being here. My prediction is combat tribe is in Yak'tel, gathering in Urqopacha, and crafting in Kozama'uka. Maybe another custom delivery in Shaaolini. Those were the vibes I got from the quest chains that started with aether currents.

@@7thMoonHidariude I'd add more to that tbh. Each region I mentioned has converging side quest chains that start with aether currents and bring the two cultures living there together. The Mamool Ja and X'braal band together to protect the forest, a Yok Huy becomes a bodyguard for a Pelupelu, and a retired Potsworn uses Hanu Hanu facilities to refurbish and recreate Landsguard uniforms. So I think each society will involve both peoples in a given region.

I do like that theres this workaround for the sake of g-posing and just personal preference - but I have to hard disagree with people saying they shouldn't have made Living Memory this way or that we should be able to change it back in future quests. The whole zone is about letting go and accepting that nothing lasts forever in a far more personal way than Aumarot or Ultima Thule delved into it. I wouldn't mind if we made something NEW in Living Memory perhaps, cus that would fit in with the theme of letting go of the past in favor of building an uncertain future - but canonically booting the system back up would really ruin what I find to be one of the more poignant messages of Dawntrail.

i usually don't answer after comments in videos but i'll simply say that: since that part of the MSQ, i have gone ahead and hidden my WoL's face in all my glams to prevent my beloved character from being burdened by actions i couldn't stop during the MSQ - like doing a genocide on a whole civilization no matter how you look at it. i do get that it is meant to teach you how to let go, but there's a twist : i am currently grieving, no one cares it's okay but i'll give my own exemple : life doesn't last forever, nothing does, and i get that. grieving means that i have to accept that the person who's gone will never return, has ceased to exist. grieving is personal : it doesn't take long for some, it takes an eternity for others - you cannot force people to accept grief no matter the excuse behind it because it is themselves dealing with their own emotions and memories (which i suspect is why we didn't ask anyone out of our group for their opinion, because it was obvious that some npcs would have been against it). here, in the living memory (which has this name for a reason), there was a way technically for people like me irl to come and see the closest thing to the ones they loved once more and grieve slowly. Krile saw her parents, Erenville saw his mother. but what about all the others outside who didn't get the same chance to say goodbye to the ones they care about? i didn't feel sorry for myself, even though i did cry my eyes out thinking about how nice it would have been to have a place like this to see the ones i loved and still love today despite having lost them, i felt bad because this place was like a golden dream for those who have lost people and we coldly decided to rip away others from their chance to reunite even for a moment without even asking for their consent. i also get the urgency of acting considering that souls were used to achieve this utopia, but couldn't we have stopped Sphene and let the memories run out of fuel on their own, so people could have get there and see the ones they lost until their end? it's not alike Amaurot where "people" were mere memories stopped in time, here people reacted to new things such as Wuk Lamat's presence, some people could have built cherished new memories with them and heard from the ghosts who were all willing to go in peace that things were going to be okay. that's a long post but that's my opinion, i hope i have gotten my point across even if it may sound stupid or rejecting of reality. either way i hope this message finds everyone well and safe - let's enjoy life as long as we can, and cherish and carry with us the memories of those we lost. as someone wise once said "remember we once lived".

You need to learn how to let go. Not everyone gets to say goodbye, that's life. And death is beautiful in its own way. Don't be sad that those people had to go, be happy that they can finally find rest. The story even went out of its way to say that it was unnatural how they didn't go to the aetherial sea. Their existence was kind of brutal in a way Especially for cachia. She went out of her way to exist in the real world, but if she couldn't have found a way with the robot she would have been stuck in that existence for all eternity with no escape. My biggest issue with how this zone was handled was that everything was murdered before we could fly around and kind soak in the zone. From a story perspective, it makes sense, but from a gameplay perspective it's a stupid decision. Story is important, but not if it compromises the gameplay.

Something funny that I noticed is when I turned everything back on and flew around the zone, the tops of the buildings do not have colored shingles. It's just a flat grey electrope roof. It's almost as if the developers didn't bother with filling in the tops of the roofs because they didn't expect us to ever see it from flying above lol.

I think I'll go ahead & do this for now... I was more bothered about shutting down the appearance of the city than the endless themselves, maybe because i know they had their time & deserved to rest anyway. But shutting down the city's appearance just felt like such a shame & a waste. Like many are saying, hopefully we can revive the appearance of the city without bringing the endless back too, in future patches. The only endless i really felt anything for was Kriles' parents & Erenvilles' mother. But i have to say the scene with Kriles' parents where they sat down for a bit was just awful writing & terribly wasted. It's like all of Kriles' curiosity & questions about her past & family just evaporated as soon as they met. It didn't make any sense at all, didn't fit the moment, or feeling of a long lost reunion. Seriously, all three sat at that table & had NOTHING to say between them??? I've gone off track a bit here 🤣, but damn that scene was beyond stupid/lazy. I HATED it! Poor Krile really got stiffed by the writers.

I hope someday that we can turn the lights back on in this zone. Obviously, the souls' memories are gone, but does that mean that none of the lights or visual enchantments could ever function, ever again? I thought to myself as I went through this zone, that this would be an awesome place to live for actual normal living breathing people if they could figure out how to "turn the lights back on". The memories may have departed, but that don't mean new people couldn't move in. It's a city, and one built to be a paradise, which could easily house everybody from all the city-states easy. I mean, heck, send the homeless Ul'dahns here, as long as they made gardens or something to send food here, maybe from Heritage Found. EDIT: I suppose that is, once you repopulate S9 lol

I would tend to disagree. It's a game. Not everyone wants to play it the same way. Some people may just want a bright shiny zone to look at while they farm, do hunts or fates. Others might like the greyed out version. Some people may not even have taken the time to do the MSQ or know what happened. But they may still like the original zone to play in. I doubt many people are turning it back on because they cannot cope with the loss. They just want the graphics and visuals because they may think it looks cool.

That was strange, I was unable to start any NG+ because I had leves for my crafters in Dawntrail I've been using for leveling: Unable to commence New Game+ mode while undertaking a leve. I was able to start after turning in all of the crafts.

Yeah NG+ has some weird quirks with it. Can turn it on with active leve. Can't use it when mounted I think? And can't use retainers when its turned on.

I’ve never enabled new game plus before. Is there a chance it would mess with upcoming msq? Either way, it’s easier enough to turn off.

It's pretty straight forward. It just sets the current MSQ to where ever you choose. You can suspend it to "pause" the old MSQ you choose and continue on what you are doing in the current expansion. Or you can completely delete the NG+ MSQ you picked and start the session over at another time line. If that makes sense. =)

I've just completed msq yet for some reason, NG+ is greyed out for me...any guesses as to why?

Are you trying to do NG+ for Dawntrail? If so, I do not think that is released yet. You should be able to do older expansions though. Unless NG+ has to be unlocked through some sort of quest?

Do you have any levequests pending? That's one thing that prevents you from starting NG+
