They genuinely take quite a while and sometimes finishing them actually becomes a very daunting task! Looking at pretty much a full day of editing the video after a lot of time spent researching and scripting, I'm quite lucky that there are lots of places with the info out there and I'm obsessed with most of the games I choose to cover. I ultimately want to tone down the amount of games I cover in episodes though, it's getting a bit much! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words, making videos is my biggest passion so I'm happy you enjoy them :)

A interesting note about remake in comparison to others is something i just noticed. The 'thickness' of her hair strands in front of her ears. They seemed to thin them out in later games for different purposes. To show her youth in crisis core and possibly to make her hair a wee bit more realistic in AC. However, I find having them thicker, to more closely resemble her Nomura sketch, looks a lot better and really sells the transition from OG to Remake

Advent Children Aerith is the best one. I think the dress/jacket looks better with buttons. I'd also choose Itadaki Street 2nd. Weird but I think the design and the style are just matched right.

@@ArtistMarkFlynn one thing I enjoyed about final fantasy ix was that a lot of npcs stood out due to the presence of non human races. how are you gonna argue about this monkey tailed guy when there's an actual hippo thing standing two feet away? I understand that coming up with super unique models for every npc would be nuts, but I'm hoping at least that future installments will put spins on the npc designs. give them different fashion choices. definitely want to see how the folks from wutai will look!

Video idea for you doing a formula simular to this but as artistic characterization for all characters. I bet youll get to 30k subs by the time your done with all the vids if you do that. It would be highly orginal content for ff7 characters. No one has done yet and youll get a lot of views as well as make some very enjoyable and useful content. Ff peasent is about to do character reviews for the remake but hasn't yet i saw a characterization video on barrett in remake but that all that currently exsists. Using your multi game formate throughout all series of there exsistance has not even been close to touched and i personally would love to see you pick appart the evolotion or develoution from title to title of these characters. "By artistic characterization i mean there personalities ect" ....backed up by there visual presentions maybe.

On Aerith's name though: Her name is indeed intended to sound like "Earth" - for obvious reasons connected to the main themes of the game. But within the bigger elements that FFVII is based on her name is also part of something else too. FFVII draws a lot of inspiration from the Jewish faith system and its mythology. I'm not an expert, but as far as I understand there is a thing in Kaballah (the foundations of jewish religion) called Sefirot (on which the name Sephiroth is also inspired). This Sefirot is best imagined as a tree-like structure (which can also correspond to a part of the body btw, but the tree thing is easier to understand). Each branch of this tree states one of 10 attributes through which The Infinite / God will reveal itself in our world. One such branch can be called Sefirah . . . and Aerith is HALF of a Sefirah; namely the seventh branch: Tiferet (pronounced Tifereth). And also partially another called Chesed. Within FFVII Tiferet is broken up and shared between Tifa and Aerith, it's obvious their names both form Tiferet. Tiferet is symbolic of Love, Beauty and (curiously enough) Self Sacrifice. Chesed stands for kindness, and man's love for and responsibility to heal / repair the world. And within the Thalmud, one of the holy Jewish books a Rabbi called Simlai says that: "The Torah begins with Chesed and ends with Chesed." Aerith is the first and last character you see in the original game.

@@serenityssolace While that might also be correct, I took this from the wiki (though you can never know how trustworthy a wiki is): "Aerith's name is meant to sound similar to "earth" due to her connection to the Planet. In the September 1997 issue of the Famitsu magazine, it is said "Aeris" is the transliteration of the word into katakana: "earth" turned into "earisu," Aerith's Japanese name."

I got 100% and I love this remake so much, it broke my expectations for a video games in general and it’s my second favourite game of all time (number one is sonic unleashed, I just love that game too much.) the characters are soo likeable and amazing, the new bits are great and I like the ending which I won’t spoil because I’m not that kinda guy. I never enjoyed a game as much as I did with remake. best girl is Jessie. Great video Mark! Always tune in for each upload that you post, keep it up man! I'm going to be honest here. Remake Aerith creeps me out. Why? She's so realistic that she reminds me of a girl I used to know, but I don't remember anything about that person. I've never even touched an FF game in my life. I knew of its existence, but never interacted with the series until I bought Sephiroth in SSBU. Curious about his origins, I watched countless FF videos. Remake Aerith always felt familiar in a way, like maybe I've seen her before... No. As it turns out, FF7 Remake came out LAST YEAR. I started freaking out. She gives me weird and creepy nostalgic vibes. Now when I feel nostalgic but don't know why, I call that "Aerith syndrome"

Thank you so much for doing a video on Aerith! (AKA, my favorite FF lady of all time.) Her design in the OG is simple, yet says so much about her. Her upgraded design in the Remake is definitely one of my favorites in the whole game. Choosing one is hard, but I guess I'd have to say it's a toss-up between her OG design and her Remake design. Both suit her the best in my opinion. (And I agree, it's a shame she missed out in Dissidia NT. It would have been awesome to see what she looked like there.) Though, I kinda wish you had covered her 3 optional dresses she can get during the Wall Market scenario in the Remake, but I guess that's fine, since this video is to focus on her default designs in all her appearances. (Or maybe it's simply because you haven't gotten to play the Remake yet, which I understand.) Overall, great video! Thanks again! 👍

Aww man, was gonna say I was heart broken on your behalf that you haven't been able to play it but then I remembered you saying on Twitter you were playing so I guess you buckled. I think the OG is my fav game of all time and I genuinely think the remake might be better, it's absolutely UNREAL! I love the actual OG artwork that goes along with the original game, and I have a weird nostalgic love of her original blocky self but I gotta say that... Yes, FF7 Remake does have the best Aeris design... and yes I still say Aeris lol. They did an amazing job in the remake, she looks pretty much exactly as I would have imagined her from the OG but with improved graphics. In fact it was seeing her in that E3 trailer so long ago that totally got me on board with buying the game. I wasn't really on board cos I thought it'd be like FF15 which i didn't like but seeing her wow'd me, then the combat looked great and I was in Great video man! P.S. Cloud + Aeris for life! lol
