FFVIIRemake lost part of the charm of the original because a 3d camera that follows the main character doesn't allow you to see the backgrounds the way they were before. The way they placed the camera had narrative and atmospheric value: you saw Midgar from a bird's eye most of the time, but that scene of Sephiroth losing his mind in the Nibbleheim mansion had a low angle to reinforce how menacing and unstable he was becoming... It's a pity that all of that is being discarded because of the 3d.

I do remember leveling up my chars to max level before I ever killed the first boss ifrit (spelling) on the beach with the flying mobs. I don’t remember ever having trouble or killing any boss and in fact, it’s the only game I remember completing 100%. As an 8-9th grader so about 14-15 years old at the time, I spent over 160+ hours game time iirc. I’m 39 now lol. My memory may be fuzzy.
