Honestly, I feel as if they played this in the beginning of the adventure, and at the ending, the Distant Worlds version plays, when the war is over, when they see all the friends lost, all the lives who sacrificed themselves for a better future, but the sadness subsides with the ray of hope and prosperity once they see that the ones that remain stand tall to see that their kingdom is free once again.

To me , this song emulates a few different emotions. There is royalty, as shown in the "proud" you could say use of trumpets and the low brass. There is also a little bit of tension because near the end, you can hear a base drum that sounds like footsteps marching to war. There is also a bit of hope for the future with the differing note patterns that express the idea of moving out of the current time and ending the reign of The Emporer. Please comment nicely and don't attack me.

@XordHacker Of Course I took that into consideration. One of the main problems was the fustration of leveling up spells. I spent almost 2 months leveling up 5-6 magic spells from LVL1 to LVL8. Having to cast a spell 50 times to level it up by one was the thing that pissed people who have played FF2 (the real one). FF2 was a good game but a lot NES games were incredibly difficult or buggy because they weren't tested enough. The soundtrack and story were great and some innovative ideas were good.

Even though FF2 was one of the worst (or THE worst) Final Fantasy, It had some gold like this. And when I say FF2 I mean the Original FF2 (NES). Sadly, when most people talk about FF2 they talk about the remakes. The remakes are technically "side-final-fantasies" like Tactics, Legends and Mystic Quest series's.

@Kerrandrius Err...FF12 has forgettable music? We must have been playing completely different games because FF12 has one of the best soundtracks in the series. Though, while I did enjoy the game as a whole, I will concede that it is subject to personal taste. Also, yes, I do contradict myself with my opinion on subjectivity, but seriously: listen to the Esper Battle Theme (or whatever it's actually called). One of the best "boss" themes ever.

@Kerrandrius I couldn't disagree more. I can't have fun playing FFXII while I have lots of fun playing FFII. The same happens with a lot of old games compared to new ones. You need a lot more patience to play new games, and you don't even get half the fun.

@chubbiercherub Actually I do. I have played and beat the remake version and the NES version of FF1 and FF2. There are more differences then just sprite, sound, and translation differences changes. It is similar compared to playing the NES Super Mario Bros and the SNES Super Mario Bros All-Stars remake.

Mohammad Dwikurnia Apriadi actually there were only FOUR boss character who can talk in FF2 (I counted Emperor Malteus and Final boss from hell as the same person. I didn't count "Sergeant" who guarded Mythril in Semmit Falls because he was irrelevant. aside from them, all boss are monsters so they cannot dislike anything.

I'd just like to throw in a point about the definition of "opinion" as it is commonly used and misused. An opinion is a subjective idea. A subjective idea is one that has no way, hypothetical or otherwise, of being right or wrong as stated. "Red is the best color" is an opinion. "Red is the best color where best means being associated with the most agreeable things" is not an opinion, whether or not it is true. And obviously, "a remaster/remake counts as a side game" depends on the working...

@Shadowff61337 It was back when Final Fantasy wasn't all that well developed, you have to give it credit for what it had accomplished, remember, this was long ago, and games weren't all fancy like they are today. I mean, right now, I'm listening to this being amazed at the fact that it's much better then a lot of VGM today. Sure, it wasn't ALL that of a game today, but during it's time, It was a masterpiece.

@tallwhiteninja The NES and PS1 versions were pretty good, don't judge it by the horrid GBA and PSP versions. It wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't horrible either. Save the basing for games like VII, XIII, and VIII.
