Usually no matter how farmed you are you only have a split second to recover when he uses big bang and bio missing that opportunity means death this is without a doubt one of the hardest boss fights in final fantasy history even at lv99 he sill put your party near critical with big bang but yea having your party at 99 and being able to do massive damage to him before he can act makes it look easy lol

I had to use Haste, Shell, and Protect on Edge and then spam about 10 Fuma Shurikens in a row along with Curaga, physical attacks, and magic attacks. My party was about level 80 and I still BARELY beat him. This boss is really hard.

+Jared Barker Best way to beat this boss (and it's still a long fight) is to have Cecil attack, Kain should Jump, Edge just !throw everything you have at him, Rosa cures the party every time her turn comes up, and Rydia should cast Bahamut everytime for maximum damage. Treat this enemy like a WoW boss.

+Jared Barker I thought it was super easy, i had omni cast on rosa, used shell, haste on whole party spammed dual cast metor on rydia, cecil focused twice and then attacked and edge threw fumas. Kain done what kain always does. It was super easy, harder then cloud of darkness though. Around level 75.

Is this version less counter based? SNES Zeromus only casts big bang on it own and can be meleed down with ease.

SNES Z does use a few attacks that aren’t big bangs or counters. Meteo when he’s under 16k HP is fairly obvious, but if he gets three BBs off before you deal ~50k damage, he’ll start throwing a nasty full party Virus, and if he gets three BBs in between that mark and the 16k Meteo spam, he’ll start slinging Nuke for well over 2k a pop

Just reading the comments about the enemies one-shotting people, and wondering if I grinded too much. I mean, I spent quite some time grinding throughout the story, but not around the endgame. I only grinded a little, getting Rydia one level higher to level 80 so she could learn Meteor, 'cos why not. Final boss still murdered me, though. If not for Kain and Phoenix, I'd have lost.

Looks a lot like the DS version, only with a hell of a lot more lag. EDIT: You should also have "Curaja" by this point in the game. It restores at least 50% more HP.

I think 3DS is superior to all FF4 versions, period. In every shape and way there is. I remember watching original cutscenes... and then comparing them to 3DS version. Much better written, directed, designed, and etc etc

It's unfortunate that they couldn't do FF5 and FF6 in 3D. I know this FF4 is the enhanced version of the DS version but still, I would like to see the characters of the latter 2 games as 3D models instead of a one frame sprite, oh well. Nice gameplay though, I played FF4 for so long.

Man, in the snes version i was really REALLY underleveled, everybody was level 25 and 30 with 1050 and 2500 HP, without Rydia summons and Rosa white magic, all my party was killed with an a Zeromus Big Bang.

The j2e patch was a mess, and even the makers of said patch have gone on record saying as much. I know a lot of people hate the DS version because "omg too difficult", but it's easily the best translation of the lot; even the varying speech styles between characters does its best to match the intended feel of how they spoke in Japanese. (Tom Slattery is seriously underrated.)
