Final Fantasy IX (PS4) - Trance Kuja & Necron Final Boss Fight + Ending

The ending for Final Fantasy IX. I personally liked the Kuja fight a lot but was never a huge fan of Necron. The ending itself was nice but the fact that Vivi died makes me sad especially since he was the one talking at the end. For the fights I thought everything went pretty well I did have one death to Necron that I couldn't do anything about since grand cross can give you any status ailment including death. Overall I think FFIX is a great game and easily the most underrated FF game.

good god i still remember being absolutely stunned seeing all those models fully rendered. Its one thing playing on an emulator (and even then you cant fully get rid off of all that jank and wank), but i played this in 2008-2009 on a CRT TV, when i was 6. anyone who lpayed any ps1 games on this setup knows how unreadable a lot of shit was. For instance, i never knew Amarant actually has a face, i just thought his head is a scarlet bush attached to a body. I also thought that Freya was a guy and her helmet is a party hat. And thats just a few of the most notable examples,i could tell you how my 6 year old saw every single npc and enemy as something entirely else. So seeing them in full hd was just fucking insane.

recently completed this game. It's definitely better than OG FF7 in story pacing and direction. OG FF7's story pacing outside of midgar is a little awkward flowing but still good overall. FF9 picks up after Garnet changes her name. The trio bosses at the end wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Kuja kept spamming flare star; however the animation of it gave my party members enough time to recover their health via auto regen. As for Necron, he has an attack that brings your character to a 1 HP, ending up killing three of my party members. Defeated him with just Zidane's attacks. It was totally an "oh my god it's about to be game over" type of fight. Lol great game.

I figured with him being named necron that would be some sort of god of death so I figured that he was placed there for thematic reasons. If you ask me, Necron shouldn’t have been a separate god entity from Kuja. It should’ve been an embodiment of Kuja’s strong emotions, finally able to take form after Kuja wiped out the main heroes with “Ultima”. No change in appearance or boss fight… but with more fragmented dialogue when it first appears, and a name indicating the only coherent point of that dialogue: “Nihilism”.

Necron isn’t _random,_ he just appears _flat out of nowhere._ At least, if the summary I heard from joshscorcher’s “Top Ten Overshadowed Bosses” list is true. It would’ve been a simple fix, if you ask me. Given Kuja’s… artificiality, his intense emotions while casting “Ultima” could’ve been strong enough to separate from him and take physical form. No change in appearance or boss fight, but its dialogue before the fight would be more fragmented, and its name would be more indicative of what said dialogue conveys: “Nihilism”.
