No, Cloud was just a normal guy who had dreams of becoming Soldier First Class but only made it to the grunt work. Sephiroth had a mother named Lucrecia. There is a hidden cave in the gam where you can meet Sephiroth's real mother and it'll explain everything. Also, the game FFVII Crisis Core goes into a little more detail as well.

@Cetra29 And it doesn't matter what you and I say here because it IS mentioned in Final Fantasy VII and it is mentioned in Square's Ultimania Omega of Final Fantasy VII. And if you still don't understand that the word "clone" in Final Fantasy VII doesn't mean the traditional "clone" we know then I cannot help you. I just tell you what is mentioned in Final Fantasy VII and the creators know it way better then we do.

@stoffni No, because we don't get the cells at any time, we grow with them. Cloud, Zack, et cetera get their cells when they are born already. They are called "Clones", it doesn't make them "Clones", like we know clones. It is similiar to the Genesis and Angeal "copies" in Crisis Core. It is just a word for those in Final Fantasy VII. And that's no wonder. What did we know about cloning in 1997?

@stoffni 1. No. Cloud and Zack are Sephiroth and not JENOVA clones because they don't get JENOVA cells but JENOVA Sephiroth cells. 2. Sephiroth didn't start as a child like Genesis and Angeal. He grew out of Lucrecia's, Hojo's and JENOVA's cells. If Sephiroth would have been injected with JENOVA cells like Genesis and Angeal Lucrecia wouldn't have those cells but Lucrecia herself says she has JENOVA cells inside her body.

After all I am just writing what is mentioned in Final Fantasy VII and official books of Square and like I have mentioned before - we cannot do anything about that. And I personally wouldn't even do something if I could because the story is great as it is narrated and explained.

@XvanityX60 Cloud is a clone. "Clones" are no traditional Star Wars clones in Final Fantasy VII. Everything which has cells from other people in it is called "Clone" or "Copy" in Final Fantasy VII. Sephiroth just lied when he said Cloud was made by Hojo five years before the story but since he really has JENOVA S cells he is a Sephiroth clone and so is Zack. It is stated in the Ultimania Omega of Final Fantasy VII.

No, Cloud has a real mom. Cloud was experimented on and he's just a failed Jenova experiment that's all. Jenova was just a monster that came to the planet. Even Sephiroth has a real mother.

@Cetra29 Still not a clone of sephiroth. He would then be a clone of Jenova and not sephiroth. BUT. Just because a being is subjected with external cells doesn't make them a clone. What it would make them.. Is a mutant, in a way. So no, he or sephiroth is not clones but mutants. Sephiroth was infected by the jenova cells when he was in the womb of lucresia, still he was a human to start with. A clone would be cells taken and then made into a body. Making a "copy" of whoever gave the cells.
