Don't sweat the mistakes. FFXIV is a huge game built on the back of all of its predecessors and some of the references are fairly obscure. You're doing an awesome job, and that you're willing to go back and correct things you learn about or missed just gives even more to the series. Can't wait for the rest of the reference videos!!

WAIT! The warmech model first appeared in the Bozja Southernfront zone: Zadnor when it was first released in patch 5.55. I remember the shouts and people freaking out upon seeing it for the first time.

Ah damn, welp another correction got part 2 haha admittedly I am working on the Bozja content for prep of ff12 but I’m not at Zadnor yet. I’ll be sure to correct it!

They laid several good details about the Empire in the game in Shadowbringers while also making sure references from ARR were not forgotten. Im really excited to see what references to XVI have already been planted in XIV THAT WE DON’t know about right now.

Thank you!!! One that I always thought was a reference to FF7 is Omega-M, he gives off Sephiroth vibes with his floating battle pose, and most importantly, makes a shield that has one wing decorated onto it

I appreciate the work you've done so far! It's definitely a monumental task to put these all together and understandably, there's going to be some references that slip through the cracks. But acknowledging all the stuff you missed really earned my respect. I look forward to more videos in the series! (Especially FFIX since that's my favorite one!)

A tiny correction, but worth mention as trivia in itself. You pronounced it Mare is in female horse, but the pronunciation is "mah-ray" as it is from the Latin phrase for "Sea." This is borrowed from real life names of the dark spots on our own moon being named as "seas," for example "Mare Tranquillitatis" meaning "Sea of Tranquility." Just a tidbit I felt worth mention in the spirit of references and trivia. :)

Yup. In the case of XIV, Mare Lamentorum, is the Sea of Lament

I’ve always said “Cyan” like the color. Also, I’m very excited for FFX references in particular. I haven’t spotted many other than the Yuna and Tidus outfits, Anima dungeon boss fight in EW, and the obvious Ronso inspiration.

From the top of my head, there's the Yuna, rikku and Lulu minions, the Ixion FATE, the name "machina" for machines, one of the rooms in tam-tara being called the "eternal calm" and eden's verse Ramuh taking place at the thunder plains

I don't remember the exact name, but I know there's an area in Amh Araeng in the northern part that has Biran or some Ronso name and I've always wondered if that was supposed to be a reference to X in any way.

One reference I love is to a different Square property. To unlock the Dwarf beast tribe you have to find Watt's lost hammer, that Ronnit drops, which mirros the Quest from Legend of Mana, Watts Drops his Hammer, Watts also appears in a couple of the other Mana titles. Another is that Onion Knights are also referenced in Legend of Mana as a NPC, Duelle, you are able to interact with in a few locations.

Actually wild rose was a code word in both 2 and 14, given to you by Princess Hilda and Minfinila as a roundabout way of letting certain people you are allied with the protagonist group without outright stating. its only used a handful of times in ARR in the beginning of the MSQ, then it later makes an appearance as a name for artifact gear.

Honestly, I’m obsessed with this series. I’ve been very interested in FF franchise since I was a child, but the gameplay and it’s turn based style always kinda turned me off from ever trying to play the games. Untill I tried XIV about 1,5 years ago and now I’m hooked and SE has a tight grip of my wallet… Playin XIV has made me even more interested in other FF games, especially because of the references, and I just think the whole consept is so neat and realizing the references makes the whole gaming experience even better. So far I’ve only played IV (yes, because Endwalker) and this series has definitely helped with my thirst for more knowledge ’till I finally have a chance to play the other games.

I would not worry about. Each Final Fantasy has reference points until a new Final Fantasy game comes out. I have a feeling that Final Fantasy 16 will have references to Final Fantasy 14. In addition, I think your character may have Easter Eggs of other Final Fantasy games, as well as Kingdom Hearts, but you do not know that yet. I enjoy your channel and keep up the good work.

This is one who I haven't seen anyone talk about: In the Shadowbringers msq, there is a scene where a well-meaning female healer gets impaled by a sword from behind - by a white-haired one-winged angel. A reference to the scene where Sephoroth kills Aerith. It's when that girl gets turned into the sin eater (by an angel-like sin eater with one wing cut off) who later becomes a boss during Alisaie's story arc early in the expansion.

FFIV: Kokkol Dankkol in Endwalker is a reference to the blacksmith Kokkol, who you can find in the underground. The location in XIV is even called Kokkol’s Forge. FFV: The Mysidian Rabbit first appeared in this game, rather than FFVI. It was a low-level failure result when using the Ranger’s Animals skill.

Thank you so much for making these videos! I know its a lot of work, You Rock!! I had no idea Angelo wasnt a good boy but a good girl :O Also, it makes a lot of sense that Ultimecia's real name is Artemisa, the goddess of the moon, since the moon in FFVIII is a big plot element.

Don't forget to further thank your FC on a billboard! Hats off for this stuff. The FF7 Church reference might be a bit of a stretch but at the same time I also can't believe I missed that one. There are soooo many references in FFXIV that you could make an entire comprehensive series for them all and not be finished in months. You still missed a ton (and that's fine), just means more content you can create later xD

a thing that I would add to the FF7 segment: DRK's Battle Stance is a kin to Sephiroth's Battle Stance and the SAM's Battle Stance is a kin to Cloud's Battle Stance

The crashed alagan ship on the moon is a Heimdall class observation ship not a Ragnarok class. Ragnarok class internment hulks are massive and are largely what you explore during the coils raids. The Sharlayan Ragnarok gets its name from that class of ship as it was largely based off a crashed Alagan era Ragnarok ship. Presumably they largely look the same just the modern day version is far smaller than the massive warships of the past. Also the Falcon isn't really Setzer's ship it's his lost love Darill's ship. Though I guess he does gain ownership of it later in the game after his ship, the Blackjack, which is a gold saucer mount) is blown apart.

In the FFVII video you mention The Beehive in FFXIV as a reference to the Honeybee Inn in FFVII. There is also a title obtained from Kai-Shirr's custom deliveries, which take place at The Beehive. After 150 deliveries you get an achievement that awards the "Honeybee" title which is a further reference to the Honeybee Inn.

It's nice to see older FF games have plenty of references in FFXIV ever since I saw someone else made a video pointing out references from several FF titles shown in FFXIV but I don't think he ever made a part two. Hope we get to see more as other FF titles get released in the future. As for the cross-class skills from the FF5 segment. In FFXIV early days of ARR, it was actually better to play Marauder instead of Warrior due to having more skills than what Warrior had, or at least multiple people told me that who were active in Coil Turns but not sure how long that lasted before SE made some fixes as I wasn't too active in 2.x days
@Autobalance

Oh this one I can actually chime in because I started as a MRD/WAR in 2.0! When the game first started, WAR had almost no mitigation aside from Foresight which was a Defense Up buff. Bringing a WAR was almost a hinderance and in some cases, you'd rather bring two PLD than have a WAR. You can see this in the Turn 5 world first as it was two PLDs. But if you were adamant about having an axe, you could unequip the soul crystal to gain all the DPS cross class abilities like Blood 4 Blood and Raging Strikes and essentially be a DPS rather than tank. Although at that point, you could just bring a 5th dps if the fight didn't need two tanks. Luckily, it didn't last long as in 2.1, a lot abilities like Inner Beast and Vengeance got mitigation making WAR a viable tank.
