The FF7 OST has been living in the back of my mind for years so it's always a blast seeing people exposed to it for the first time. The system limitations really forced the songs to stand on the strength of their melodies and Uematsu is the king in that regard. Cosmo Canyon has the perfect vibe of a folk song, the kind of thing you can imagine someone thinking up after a long day on the farm and they just want to chill out to a simple song they can play on whatever instrument happens to be available. That it is the product of a professional composer working on electronic hardware, making it for a massively popular video game is almost besides the point.

there are 2 people who put lyrics too this that I know of. one sings it. for a long time I want to do this, but i'm not a good lyricist. when the moment comes I think I have it, it's lost and just decends into gibberish/inteligable/alien language and I stop getting words.

Also, no spoilers but if you are going to play the remake you should be warned: The remake subverts a lot of big scenes and themes from FFVII in a way that almost expects you to have played the original for it to be impactful or even, in some cases, make any kind of sense at all.

"I get visions of Lions." Close enough. The character whose theme this is, is a Red Wolf with a Lion Mane and Tail. His name is Red XIII and he talks. His homeland is basically the Grande Canyon. Hes one of the most iconic characters from 7 probably. His theme (this) and "Sending a Dream into the Universe" are top emotional songs in 7.
@autumndidact61482 жыл бұрын
Technically his theme is a separate song with a lot of the same melody, but it only plays when you first meet him. It's got a more reserved, mysterious vibe. And then there's the third version, The Great Warrior, which only plays in a cutscene where he finds out a personal truth. That one goes from somber to inspiring.

KZbin recommended me this video so this is the first time I've seen any of your videos. And to see you react the exact way that I did when I was a kid upon hearing this song, I just laughed. I really like that despite your tiredness, you understood the core essence of the song, from its simplicity to the lion guess. That's close enough to Red XIII, or as his true name is, Nanaki. The theme is composed by Nobuo Uematsu and his ability to evoke feelings through his music is insane, especially when you factor in the limitations of the Midi in his time. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of his music. He knows how to compose with complexity and musicality. For example, check out FF7 (Original) Overworld Theme, or FF6's Dancing Mad. Anyways, instant like, comment, and subscribe. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend playing the original FF7 in its entirety. From what I've seen online, the PS1 game is a work of art that stands the test of time because playing it for the first time in recent years have come to also see why so many of us was crazy about this game.

Final Fantasy has a reputation, thanks heavily to Uematsu, for building these massive lush songs with a beautiful melody and more instrument layers than you or your grandmother can handle. Then you have this; it sounds like some traditional drums, strings, and woodwinds being played by a few people around a campfire at dusk regardless of actually being soundfonts and synths. It's not complex, it doesn't require an entire orchestra to play, and yet it gets you.
