Here a year late, but there have been analyses that suggest Sephiroth does not create the explosion. If he could summon a meteor going fast enough to (somehow) make the sun go supernova, why did he go through so much trouble to get the meteor-summoning Black Materia? Rather, Supernova is Sephiroth transporting his enemies to a time and space where such an event is happening.

Level 50-60 is the sweet spot to fight him. Anything higher and youll kill him too fast and skip all the good moments

Lvl 99 is the sweet spot. His health increases for an amoumt of like 30000 for any lvl99 characters. So if all your characters are lvl 99 he will have like 450000 health. His health also increases by an enormous amount if you use knights of the round on the previous jenova fight

After defeating both Emerald and Ruby Weapons. Sepiroth wasn’t even a noble challenge. With combinations pairing of Master Summon and MP Absorb to keep Clouds MP maxed out, pairing a mastered Final Attack with a mastered Phoenix summon materia you were unstoppable. Of course, the Weapons needed much more vigorous and efficient strategies. Same pairing concept, however.
