All the dates reference a non-optional scene in the game or in other FF7-related games. Like red and his paw as you've mentioned. Barret mentioned his wife which we saw on the temple trail. Tifa in Gongaga where they almost kiss. Aerith talks about finding the real Cloud and interlocking fingers before and during battle respectively. Yuffie...I'm not too sure. Crisis Core, due to her reference to Zack? Her rooting for C x T to kiss? Cloud and the boys' night out is pretty much nothing. Which explains their current feelings for one another, given that they have not bonded yet or they're a bunch of guys who are too cool for a heart-to-heart talk.

Love how Red and Yuffie are the kids of the group. Their part with Cloud is wholesome, with Yuffie referencing Zack, making Cloud act just like him, and Red bonding with Cloud even more. I played the original and this version really does flesh out the characters and the original way Cloud was portrayed as a youthful personality. Its the Mako and things that happened to him that shut out his personality and he adopted a fake persona. Love how they just worked the whole origin into Rebirth.

I really love how in-depth they make all the characters here. While I do think it’s Cloud + Tifa and Aerith + Zack (I’m not a shipper, that’s just the dynamic that always struck me as more natural) it doesn’t feel natural that Cloud would just boldly kiss her out of nowhere, in his current state of mind. And man, the Aerith one is also so good, but it really hammers home to me that it feels more and more like Aerith is loosely aware of her impending demise. Like, it seems like she's constantly pushing boundaries with Cloud, but she always seems to stop short of making an actual move. Cloud's feelings are never confirmed and Aerith has said over and over what her attraction to Cloud is. Was never meant to be, the couples are CT and ZA. No offense but I don't subscribe to the idea Cloud Strife fell in love with and was going to choose a woman he knew three weeks over the girl he's been in love with his entire life. And for no other reason than she's pretty and fun, no less, cause I never get any other real reason as to why besides her being fun and special for being a Cetra.

Personally i always thought Clouds feelings towards Aerith are missplaced due to his hijacked memories. Like how he get nostalgic feelings when he’s with Aerith just because he think he’s Zack sometimes. @@StygianStilettosGamer the novels show Aerith sees Zack as a friend once both reunite in the lifestream, but she has romantic feelings for Cloud, even the game (Gold Saucer date) tells you she's starting to fall for the actual Cloud, and that she wants to know him better. Cloud's feelings are always mixed between her and Tifa which is no small achievement for Aerith, after all she only spent 2 months with him but left a mark that lasted forever. At the end of FFVII original, the first thing Cloud says is that he thinks he'll be able to meet Aerith "there" (in the lifestream, or the afterlife, whatever you call it). It's ridiculous to take sides and get heated on these topics.

He imitates the attitude and some gestures, just like I would if I was trying to look lile a cool character from a film I just saw. He also took some of Zack's backstory (SOLDIER) and assumed it to be his own, but feelings for another human being are rather difficult to recreate. IMO she approached him because she was reminded of Zack, and he just started to fall for her without noticing, while her own feelings also matured over time. In Advent Children Cloud's mostly depressed because of his inability to save Aerith in the past, we're not told how he's feeling towards her or Tifa (romantically, we do know that he sees Tifa as family).

Cloud and Aerith’s date was cute, but I honestly get the feeling that their relationship is more like friends who find comfort in one another rather than lovers. Aerith likes Cloud, sure, but it’s obvious at least to me that she still holds feelings of love for Zack as well. She doesn’t want to project that onto Cloud and says she wants to be with *him* but I feel like that doesn’t = to her admitting she doesn’t love Zack anymore, only that she wants to know the real Cloud whether or not they’re together. However, Tifa and Cloud’s date alludes to a more intimate and concrete romantic conclusion, and it makes sense because Cloud’s feelings for Aerith is one of protection and Aerith even admits that she first liked Cloud only cause of Zack. Tifa is the one who truly loves only Cloud for HIM and not because of Zack. Even Yuffie admires Cloud because of Zack. That's probably the best analysis I've seen to be honest. To me, Cloud has always liked Tifa but never really knew how to project his feelings cause of his whole situation. Aerith is the one who really helps him break out of his shell, and I think there might've been a short period where Cloud DID have feelings for her. But it was when she started mentioning Zack that he realized those feelings might not have been reciprocated. Despite that he was still smitten by her unrequited compassion towards him that his mind starts to open up about his feelings for Tifa.

In the novels it's made clear that Aerith loves Cloud when they show her thoughts in the lifestream. They even go as far as saying that she loved him far more than her first love. As a matter of fact, she finds Zack on the lifestream several times but they just have a friendly relationship. To Cloud however, the narrator always refers as "her beloved". This date is pretty much like the original game, where Aerith says her classic line "I'm searching for you", which I believe to be one of the most romantic lines in the whole franchise. She showed interest on him due to his resemblance to Zack, but right here she's starting to love him for who he is (as his own self starts slowly showing while he gets back fragments of memories). Btw, in the church scene, in the JAP version, she does confess her feelings. Besides Cloud's romantic preference will depend on your choices. At the Gold Saucer, the canon date is Aerith (if the score is even). The game suggests that Cloud loved Tifa all his life and then, Aerith, in less than a couple months, entered the equation. In AC, he lives with Tifa and as two adopted kids (as if they were a couple), but never stops thinking about Aerith, albeit these are feelings of guilt, and constantly goes to their place (church). In my view it's pretty clear that he loved both, and Aerith dying was simultaneously a blessing and a curse for Tifa's future with Cloud.

I kind of view it that in OG timeline the canon date was Aerith, however in remake timeline with alterations of events with Sephiroth making a concerted effort to target Tifa and drive cloud away ironically lead to him opening up to her earlier as he begins to let Tifa in and see the things wrong with him allowing him to be vulnerable in front of her, causing this timeline canon date to be tifa (without getting into details this is all due to events that happened in gongaga)

No. Aerith’s should be the canonical. But it’s very open. This part 2 it’s the part of Aerith and Cloud. If it’s a race here Aerith take the lead. Part 3 it’s gonna be a massacre in favor Tifa, since they gonna put directly Aerith with Zack while Tifa and Cloud. Don’t get me wrong I prefer Tifa and it’s the only date that Cloud feel that he wanted (in Aerith always seems she convinced him while with Tifa he want it). But so far is more relevant Aerith than Tifa. Part 3 is Tifas of course

The ending may have been convoluted bs, but they absolutely nailed all the character moments. I feel like that conversation with Nanaki should have happened outside of an optional cutscene though, I actually missed that very impotant detail that they can't see the future anymore. I like that in order to come to the worst outcome that you have to actively work for it. Think about it: you're gonna _want_ to do certain side-quests (c'mon we've done all of them) which always involves one of your party members. Nope! Don't do them. You need to make sure your relationship level doesn't reach a certain point. So that means you need to switch them out of your party for battles if it gets too high. The worst requires the most active work.

They made Aerith the obvious Love interest for Cloud by default, she's the only girl he goes out with and romance in main game , Of course since FF7 inherently revolves around a love triangle, there is an option to play it the Tifa way if the player wants to, but Cloud will always see Tifa as the secondary leftover option for him, he was clearly interested in Aerith in Tifa's date and looking sad and jealous thinking she still likes Zack and not him.

Nein, the funniest were Yufi and Red, the most romantic was Aerith. With Tifa, im not sure what of this options is happening: -2 very shy friends who like each others and wanna go beyond friends but feel it akward. -Cloud is in love with Aerith but thinks she still prefers Zack, so he choses to date Tifa as B plan. -2 friends who have lived together so long that they have developed fraternal feelings, they think they should be couple, but their fraternal feelings are sabotaging it. Maybe the 3 options are true at same type. Their date was akward. Certainly their story of from friends to something more going beyond their shyness and slowly growing their love can be beautiful. But not the best date ;)
