Its actually kind of bonkers smart to just limit him when he transforms. Never thought about it. He just goes straight to charging so he doesn't get to crash out and do whatever he wants. Would have been good to know during the actually 2BAH hell with Cloud

In Chapter 1, when Sephiroth joins your party, you can equip in the combat setting in the shortcuts there u can equip octoslash
