I just realized something in thie trailer that may have secretly confirmed Cid. When you see the Doctor talking about the Cell degredation among the blacj cloaked figures. This is the Mideel doctor, and in the original game you dont get to Mideel until after Northern Crator. The fact that Mideel is on an island and you cant do ocean travel until you get the Bronco from Cid in Rocket town. So we could be going to Mideel until after Rocket town and gain the Bronco.

The developers did an interview where they stated every party member from the original final fantasy 7 will show up in rebirth, but not all of them will be playable, so you might be on the mark here.
