There seems to be 2 timelines going on: Cloud's timeline following the original plot with some small changes. Zack's timeline where all of Avalanche is dead except for Biggs.

Cloud arrives in midgar after crisis core and around a month passes when he goes on the bombing run. So marlene is gonna be the same age. But marlene knows about aerith because aerith touched the other marlene in remake and gave her visions of the timelines and their happenings. Same thing she did to red 13 to calm him down

i think Time in midgar has been warped somehow, since the whispers defeat, so Zack an Cloud entered Midgar somehow entered present day midgar (again some sort of time distortion due to no whispers) Zak going to Aeriths house expecting to find her but instead Marlene is there, so Marlene is with Zack an Cloud because Cloud is wearing a 1ST class outfit {2 shoulder armplates on) , which is different to his Default/present Outfit {one shoulder plate), so currently 2 clouds 2 buster swords an now Zack being there in the same timeline, i wonder if Zack an Cloud left Midgar they would go back in their own timeline, i feel midgar is the source of this distortion. My Brain hurts lol but be fun to see whats going on, Zack being there is the major thing really, But i read FF7 takes place just barely a year after FF7 Reunion, so i get what your saying about Marlenes age, but Marlene is in Aeriths house there, id get it if it was in Sector 7 but Marlene doesnt talk to strangers, but she knows Cloud, so maybe she talks to Zack because of him, but techinally that Cloud with Zack is not the one Marlene knows, i am sure that is Present Day Marlene, the whole Jessie thing i personally think thats a past recording of one her shows she did maybe being shown in a cutscene in the Gold Saucer, the DEVS did say there is just one timeline so i think i have a grasp on it, god just re reading this is wierd i hope this makes sense, this is all theory xxx

now that i seen the full footage i think this is the crossover event the ff7 remake team has crossover to zack's timeline while zack has crossover to clouds timeline that's why marlene can meet zack and also has some of aerith memories about what about to happen in the future.

Question.. (FF7 spoilers) So, did Marlene (or anyone else) warn the group that someone was out to kill Aerith in the original game? If not, it seems like they will be alert to her surroundings and (possibly) protect her. But at that point, the question becomes: at what cost? Is someone else getting the Masamune by saving her? Tifa taking her place would be awful. A song like this playing feels like a somber ending of some sort is coming.

its 2 timelines og 7 timeline and zacks timeline and remember in remake part 1 jesse quit her job at the golden saucer cause her dad got mako poisoning so in zacks timeline she still works at the golden saucer

No, she quit in both timelines. In Zack's, she's dead, as seen from the crossed out wanted poster when Zack and Biggs are talking. The website mentions VR, so it's likely the Jessie at the Gold Saucer is a recording when she used to perform there.

I think the alternate timeline is basically a lifestream timeline... biggs is the only one alive there because he is the only one that died... the same reason zack is there.. my guess is when aerith "dies" she will wake up in the other timeline... thats what Marlene is referring to when she says when she wakes up a scary man will kill her. Only thing i cant explain is how marlene is there talking to zack... back in remake when aerith hugged her there was that strange green glowy thing... maybe marlene is like aerith and can access the lifestream. Basically i think the alternate timeline is life after death and somehow they can still help and have some kind of impact to what happens.

Cloud Remake Theme “This time I will never let you go” Aerith Rebirth Theme “Take my hand and never let me go” The Theme song presentation was a live performance with a trailer heavily focused on Aerith and Cloud romantic scenes. The singer Loren Allred confirmed she had to learn a lot about Aerith and cloud to find her conection to the characters. On the Official website of the Theme song the background Image is Aerith resting her head on Clouds shoulder.
