Detailed description: 0:00 - Game Load 0:11 - Costa del Sol The party resumes in Costa del Sol in the Corel Region. The main scenario "Tracking the Turks" is in progress. The party heads northeast from the town entrance to the Costa Port. They talk to Cid at the port for a cutscene (1:04). "Tracking the Turks" complete. The player earns the trophy "Hearts Out, Dukes Up" for completing Chapter 12. 1:26 - Chapter 13 Start - Junon As Chapter 13: "Where Angels Fear to Tread" begins, we cut to the Junon Aerodrome for a scene with the Turks. 2:49 - Meridian Ocean We return to the party aboard the Tiny Bronco in the Meridian Ocean for another cutscene. After the scenes, we gain control of the party aboard the Tiny Bronco outside Costa del Sol in the Meridian Ocean (3:42). The main scenario "Northern Voyage" begins. The party "sails" northeast through the Meridian Ocean from Costa del Sol. The approach to the Phenomenon Intel 1 site is north of Junon along the way. The party will check it out later. Partway north, the party finds a barrel with a piece of Pirate Jetsam (7:44). They find another a little to the northeast (7:59). A ways north of Junon, a cutscene takes place (8:32). 9:17 - Northwood - Keystone Altar Another cutscene takes place as the Turks reach the Keystone Altar in Northwood. Very interesting! 10:33 - Meridian Ocean We return to the party aboard the Tiny Bronco for another cutscene. After the scene, we regain control of the party aboard the Tiny Bronco (11:05). The voyage north continues. A little southwest of where they resume, they find a barrel with a piece of Pirate Jetsam (11:25). At the northern end of the Meridian Ocean, the party finds the Northwood Port (12:48). There is a warning that the player will not be able to return after landing. The party proceeds with the landing. 12:54 - Northwood A cutscene takes place as the party disembarks at the Northwood Port. "Northern Voyage" complete. The party gains control at the Northwood Port (13:26). The main scenario "Ancient Awakening" begins. Fast travel is unavailable. There is a handy rest area at the Northwood Port. The party checks the Vending Machine and grabs 2 on-sale Mega-Potions for 200 gil apiece. They also pick up another Garm Bangle for 6,500 gil. After using the rest bench, the party chats with Vincent and Cid by the Tiny Bronco. They begin exploring Northwood as they head generally north. As the party approaches the Temple of the Ancients, a cutscene takes place (18:17). After the event, the party gains control (20:06). They continue north and downstairs to the Keystone Altar. 20:45 - Northwood - Keystone Altar West of the altar, a chest contains 2 Mist Mega-Potions (20:54). After saving, the party continues north. 21:22 - Northwood The party crosses the bridge north of the altar. A cutscene takes place as they approach the Temple of the Ancients' courtyard (21:41). Looks like trouble. In the Temple of the Ancients' courtyard, the party encounters a bunch of Shinra soldiers (22:10). The enemy group includes Security Officers, a Special Forces Operator, and a 2-C SOLDIER Operator. Additional Shinra personnel arrive throughout the battle, including Grenadiers, Elite Grenadiers, Elite Security Officers, and more 2-C SOLDIER Operators. The party gains control in the south of the courtyard after the battle. Northwest of the entrance, a chest contains a bottle of Dry Ether (26:59). Northeast of the entrance, a chest contains an X-Potion (28:00). The party heads north from the courtyard entrance. A cutscene takes place as they approach the stairway to the temple's main keep (29:31). The party regains control after the scene (30:40). They can talk to Cid and Vincent again. Upstairs, the party saves. Then, they open the door to the Temple of the Ancients (31:51). A cutscene takes place as they venture inside. "Ancient Awakening" complete. 32:35 - Temple of the Ancients - Union Room Another cutscene takes place as the party enters the Union Room of the Temple of the Ancients. They encounter a Robed Man. The party gains control in the Union Room on the Labyrinth Floor - First Tier level (33:15). The main scenario "The Materia Beckons" begins. The party ventures through the Escher-esque Union Room. They take the doors leading north to a vestibule (35:20). They encounter a Security Officer and a couple of Riot Troopers. 36:23 - Temple of the Ancients - Corridor of Valiance The party takes the next door north to the Labyrinth. They start in the Corridor of Valiance area. As they climb the stairway to the north, another cutscene takes place (37:01). Either Red XIII is right, or this place is subject to altered physics. "The Materia Beckons" complete. We cut to a scene with the Turks on the Path of Guidance (37:50). Then, we return to the party near the start of the Labyrinth (39:05). The main scenario "Into the Labyrinth" and the sub-scenario "One Step Ahead" begin. Time to follow the Shinra troopers on their way to look for the Black Materia. Along the path to the southeast, they find a chest with 2 Giga-Potions (40:25). On the lower floor to the east, the party encounters a couple of Blight Frogs and a Cthonilizard. The Cthonilizard is weak to ice. While it is waiting to ambush prey, exploiting its elemental weakness with magic will exploit it. This area has greenish crystals that can be broken for items. In a room to the south, the party finds a stairway. It leads back the way they came, so probably this was the way they were meant to come down. The party takes the stairway to the north. In the Rubystar Chamber - Floor, they examine the floating Rubystar Gear (44:27). They turn it up to shift their gravity to the ceiling. An event takes place. 45:31 - Temple of the Ancients - Corridor of Trepidation The party arrives in the Rubystar Chamber - Ceiling in the Corridor of Trepidation area on the Labyrinth Ceiling level. Some dialogue takes place as they venture north from the Rubystar Chamber (46:12). There will be Robed Men helpfully pointing the way. The party follows the path downstairs. Below and east of the Rubystar Chamber, they encounter a couple of Ancient Dragons. They are weak to wind-elemental attacks. Hitting them with melee attacks when they descend pressures them. On a ledge to the west, the party finds a Level 5 orb of Chakra Materia (50:35). The party has some dialogue as they find a few Shinra guard bodies (51:04). The party goes up the stairs to the east. At a Robed Man, they begin climbing a set of vines. On the western landing, they find a chest containing a Slipstream Saber (52:36). Cloud equips this new weapon. It provides the ability Counterstance. Cloud equips the following weapon skills: Stagger Recovery, Attack Damage +5%, and Formidable Counter. The party returns to the vines and follows them to the eastern landing. They reach the Jadestar Chamber - Ceiling (55:02). They examine the floating Jadestar Gear and turn it down to shift their gravity to the floor. 55:05 - Temple of the Ancients - Corridor of Vacuity The party reaches the Jadestar Chamber - Floor in the Corridor of Vacuity area on the Labyrinth Floor - First Tier level. Just southwest of the Jadestar Chamber, a chest contains a bottle of Hi-Ether (55:42). Following the path northeast from the Jadestar Chamber, the party encounters a couple of Cthonilizards and an Ancient Dragon. Cthonilizards' breath attacks can inflict Toad. Yuffie's Auto-Cast Materia levels up. The party continues following the main path north and then west. An event with a hapless Special Forces Operator takes place (1:00:02). Yes, this area is certainly subject to its own physics. In a room farther west, the party encounters two Blight Frogs and a Cthonilizard. The Blight Frogs are weak to ice-elemental damage. They can also inflict Toad. In the south of this enemy room, a chest contains an X-Potion (1:02:56). The party saves at the base of the stairway leading north. Next time, they will continue venturing through the Temple of the Ancients. Thanks for watching!
