I miss the days when a final boss didn't want to die so they changed forms. Giving them a butt ton of HP and different phases (I.E. Different attack pattern) just don't feel the same and multiple bosses in a row doesn't either.

haha first time I did this, it took me so long I had to pause the game mid- fight, go to school then come back and try (and fail) to win at the evening. nowdays... triple meltdown, aura+ renzokuken, aura+ quick shot aura+ duel and it's over.

Am I the only one that sees the first frames of the game is the hole plot explained. The waves come and go symbolizes the time loop of Rinoa becomes Ultemicia then transfers her power - mind to Edea, Squall seeds the idea of well u know Seed to Edea etc. Its a vicious cycle fitting to the number 8. 8 horizontally is infinity

The first time I ever beat Ultimecia as a kid it took me at least an hour to beat her. I don't even want to mention how many attempts it took me because I didn't understand the game mechanics at all XD. I just remember on one attempt she cast "Hell's Judgement" and then immediately cast "Ultima" just for the overkill..... Great playthrough though! I got a bit of nostalgia from this! :)

I beat her a few days ago, and I have to admit the way I read those finishing lines that time really made me think that one point in time, Ultimecia was a good person who went crazy due to a trauma of some kind she experienced, which resulted in me tearing up a little. That may just be me reading too much into something that wasn't the case, and maybe there was a different explanation during the story for why she went batshit, but still... that's how I felt.

@Rydia of Mist That'a honestly the gist of it. I think Ultimecia grew up as a sorceress in a time where they were hated and feared, and it turned into a disdain for humanity. She even explains it in her speech at Deling City in the original Japanese script, but the localization left it out for whatever reason. I think thats why a lot of people were left cold to Utlimecia as a villain because they literally didnt know wtf her deal was

Ultimecia was very devious, as far as to blow away augments on your party, then if you didn't use a phoenix down in time, they would just get absorbed into time... I just cringed when this youtuber let Rinoa use angel wing, she'll just spam random magic.....

RoxasNova Yeah, you had three at lv.100. I can relate to Irvine though, he was my favorite laid back character of this final fantasy. I always liked Rinoa's final limit break though, but never had much luck with angel wing because she would pull a "FF6" act, and just cast whatever she wanted, and lol at the constant scan.

I was 13 when this game came out so I figured that I was just a dumb tween that didn't understand the FF fighting mechanics like I did with the previous FFs, but after replaying VIII again.. no.. The only thing i dislike about 8 is how they neglect several of your party’s backstories. Quistis became irrelevant after the secret area scene. Zell and selphie has like few scenes that are about them. Although squall and rinoa’s story is really great for me. Better than cloud’s story. Just my opinion tho

First time i fought Ultimaciea i got rocked a little. I didn't know she could remove junctions, and switch in characters. And because i rarely used the other 3 party members ( Quistis, Selphie, and Irvine) they had shit magic junctioned which made the battle way harder than it should have been. Awesome play through, looking forward to whats next. Maybe FF9? =3

I think I saw this battle as a kid. I recall there being a monkey boss who you thought before main boss, which I recall as floating building with multiple faces. I guess the monkey was Griever and the floating building was Ultimicea final form.

I am guessing you two have no idea how Angel Wing limit break works. It boosts all magical damage x5. So much so that Demi can kill now. It also does not use up any magic from stock. This is at the cost of losing control of Rinoa and the magic being randomly selected from her stock. It is also called "Magic Berserk" for this reason.

You have 3 characters at level 100, one at 42 and the other two at 28 and 14. Hoe does the difficulty scale in this case? To the highest leveled character or to the lowest?

Good question, because I don't remember. I think difficulty scales where every enemy ends up matching the highest leveled character in the end. The 4 who were lower in level were party members I stopped using at the end. Squall/Zell/Irvine are 100 because I grinded their stats just to fight Omega
