I actually feel like Squall wasn't lying. I doubt he will make that many mistakes in his dancing if it was true he knew how to dance. I think that dialogue where he said SeeDs are trained for such things was him saying that he is good at learning because of the training he received. Plus, the dance wasn't hard, you just need to know the moves and go with the flow. And for someone who trained their senses, Squall was adapted to learn movements fast.

She never gave up on him. That is one of the things I respected about Rinoa. She had a way of helping someone come out of a dark area of their life and see the inner good in life.

Their eyes are very expressive for a 1999 game. Hell, they're realistic even now. I wonder if they could do justice to the emotionality of this scene if they remade FFVIII. Somehow I doubt it, unfortunately.

I hated the stat grinding in 8. The fact that in order to achieve that you should not level up until late in the game just ruins the experience for me. If they were to make this again they should change that part.

This is one of the most hypnotically beautiful scenes of animation/gaming/cinema I have ever seen. For the 90s, its apotheosis, is somehow enshrined in some of the audio-visual, empathetic storyline of Final Fantasy VIII.

In the beginning Squall is like "ffs, I don't feel like this at the moment", and then when Rinoa gives him the cute look at 1:12 he suddenly goes more like "oh, okay, I guess I will enjoy the moment for a while", and then when she leaves, he is like "who was that...?", and is very fascinated by the whole thing.

I want a more intimate ff game like this again. They never really captured this again. FFX wasn't as nice as FFVIII because Tidus was a bit disconnected with the rest which kills the romance for me. I really want something as nice as Rinoa and Squall or Fei and Ely

I admire that Rinoa bullies squall into this dance. He tries to leave but she's persistent, and it's that persistence which wins him over. The acting and expressions in this scene are great. Squall is also an excellent dancer!

Cute how awkward Squall was with this dance but it's funnier when you realize Seifer was the one who invited Rinoa, intending to celebrate his graduation as a SeeD but unexpectedly failed and was no longer in the mood to come. Which was why Rinoa was alone when she wasn't supposed to so Seifer screwing up royally lead to this beautiful dance sequence.

This particular "FF" felt like a fairy tale, especially in this scene. It's beautiful. Squall is very different from the other "FF" protagonists, even Cloud. He's actually cold. It may have began as a protection mechanism, but it became what he really was through out the years. And I don't think he ever quite copes with the world, not truly. Because he's actually satisfied with what he experienced so far. He kinda reminds me of Shinji from "Evangelion".
