Yep one of the coolest summons about. Only a few are close to it as my favorites. I still have a place in my heart for FF7 IFRTI summons, one of the first i ever saw, and one of my favs.

@DarkCloud3000 There are mayn ways to break the damage limit. Quistis' shockwave pulsar, Xell's Duel, Irvine's Shot, the summon Eden, Rinoa's Vari (if you use the meteor combo)

@BalthierTheNobody You know how Demi works in Final Fantasy? It does % damage based on your health. This is like that. So, if a boss has several million HP, you can see it will do quite a bit of damage. Not sure if it can break the limit though, didn't think it could.

@ Hughesy9mm Yes, ONE time per summon... so it was the same effect like one hit of one of my party members, so in that case summoning diablos IS useless. He didn't do anything more or less.

@ChaosMissile max damage diablos does is 9999. theres only 1 attack that go past that and that is squall's last limit break which can do up to 100,000. So diablos damage percentage rises as he levels up

Eden can do more. Also, no, Lionheart can NOT do 100k. Max Damage is 9999, no matter what. Only Eden and Shockwave Pulsar can break the damage limit. EDIT: Also the Armageddon Fist with Zell. That can do upwards of a MILLION, if we're counting multi hit attacks.

@PeyserConley I assume they used him as soon as they released him from the lamp on the island with Balamb and Balamb Garden where all the weak enemies like the bite bugs are. Still, it killed it! :D

Yes, but it has a unique element to it - Diablos does (His level) % of the enemies HP. So a level 100 Diablos does 100% of the enemy's HP. Capped off at 9999, obviously. He does a lot against stuff like T Rexaurs and Tonberries no matter what level he is

Diablos is not a dragon, it's a DEMON. (I think the name diablos comes from "The Devil") There is no confirmed information on him from the FF8 saga, but in FFXI diablos is the god of slumber and nightmares, very hard to kill both in FFXI and in FFVIII. It's attack does about 25% of the target's hp damage (that's why dmg on that monster was low) It tends to fail on boss monsters. the big liquid ball where it comes from is made of anti-matter and the symbols are astrologic and mystics.

There's no real way to be ready to fight Diablos in this game. From what I understand his strength increases according to what level your party is. On top of that, his two most dangerous attacks *Demi and GRAVIJA* damage you based on a percentage of your current HP (Shell won't help against that IIRC). The latter of those two spells can EASILY put your ENTIRE party in serious danger...

Big Leo He does damage in proportion to your remaining HP, which makes him so difficult. I don't know if it can kill you at 1 HP, but other than that Gravity can never kill you. He can be beaten as soon as you get the lamp, but . . . .erm. .. I don't remember. All I remember was I just stopped heals and pressed on. lol If I remember right, Gravity wipes out 50% of your remaining HP.

Blind. If you have Blind then you are prepared to fight Diablos at whatever level. Gravija reduces your HP exponentially but it does not kill. It is quite the simple battle when you think about it.

I wish they would go back to the old way of summoning, like its a bit crappy the way there only a few summons in the newer Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 7 had loads, end cool ones they where too! I owuld also like to see a return of the old battle system, where you can take your time to make you r move in turn based, or atleast even have the option for turn based combat afterall that is how Final fanatsy started and became the best!!

I don't know why, but Diablos is WAY over leveled in my playthrough. I use all GF's from the moment I get them, and the highest level is Diablos at 38... The second highest is Quetzacotl at 20. WHAT THE HELL GAME?

Diablos used demi on his attacks, only removing a 1/4 of whatever health the enemy had. Diablos never kills anything unless it melees it... which kinda made him weaksauce. Bahamut ftw.

I think the summon looks great, but the actual summon move wasn't that powerful in comparison to other summons in FF8. Diablo was basically a joke for most of the game damage-wise. Almost every other summon does more damage.until really high levels for Diablo. It's the coolest-looking summon in that game though.
