Final Fantasy X: Dark Yojimbo, 9999HP Playthrough with 85 Luck

This is my Dark Yojimbo battle following my 9999HP playthrough, done when the characters used had just over 85 Luck each.

Dark Yojimbo uses 4 different attacks and 1.6 million HP, and he has to be defeated in 5 separate battles for you to finally defeat him. You can heal between battles though, which is helpful. If you want to farm Dark Yojimbo for Dark Matters and Ribbon armour, you can skip the 3rd battle, which will let you beat him the other 4 times and repeat the fights as many times as you want.
There are two methods of easily defeating him, with two different sets of armour. The first is to use the normal Dark Armour of Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix, Auto-Protect with either Stoneproof or Ribbon as the final ability. With this setup you need a character with First Strike in the front line party with Rikku being in reserve with full Overdrive available. This is because one of Dark Yojimbo's attacks is Wakizashi, which hits all characters at once for over 10k damage even though Auto-Protect. This means that if Yojimbo uses this before your party has used Cheer multiple times, it'll be Game Over.
That can be prevented by either casting Auto-Life individually or by using Hyper Mighty G (Mix Gambler's Spirit + Lunar Curtain), or alternatively you can use Ultra Nul-All (Mix Healing Spring + Healing Spring) to cast 5x Cheer immediately, at which point your character's can survive Wakizashi.
The other setup that can be used is to use the same armour that you would craft for Penance, which is Auto-Potion, Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Def+20%. Sell all the potions and Hi-Potions you have so that Auto-Potion only uses X-Potions and get 99 of those. Your characters can then survive Wakizashi and automatically heal to 9999 HP. This armour doesn't have Stoneproof, so if a character gets hit by Kozuka (which inflicts Full Break) Dispel it, or they'll get permanently shattered if they get hit by Daigoro.
If a character gets hits by Daigoro without having Stoneproof armour, they'll get Petrified so need to be cured by Esuna or a Soft or Remedy.

What i do is using Auron instado of Tidus cuz i just cant get negative score on the chocobo race and use human SHIELD White him first turn so he survives and auto Phoenix resto of the party

Thanks for the video my man. I didn't have the energy to grind more luck/fortune spheres for Rikku. So I beat him just with Tidus and Wakka. Lol

Hmm. I guess I'm trying to fight him way early. I got most Celestial Weapons, but everytime I join the fight with him. He has first strike and takes out my whole team with his attack that does 99,999dmg. Guess I'll grind for the next couple years to max everything out

Don't worry about the Celestial weapon or the ribbons. Beating dark aeons and the monster area bosses will always give you replaceable weapons

lol grind for the next couple of years, that sounds about right, on ps4 remaster i had lot's of hours in to this game. had accuracy 255 and luck in the 60's ish and managed to beat dark yojimbo 5 times ok, i think i had around 29,000hp aswel, i had a music playlist on whilst grinding lol as this process gives you a headache yeah.

This works well but healing springs are not "rarer items". You get 40 of them per Kottos kill and you only spend 2 of them per fight. On the other hand you use more X-potions per fight with the setup in this video, meaning you'd have to go back and bribe valahas to restock on potions more often than restocking healing springs. Just saying.

I did it with 84 luck in rikku, thirty or so on wakka (spammed attack reels) and yuna fully upgraded celestial weapon for that 1 mp cost auto lazarus lmao. and when he was about to attack I just summoned+ an aeon, overdrived and let it die. Rinse and repeat for 5 battles

You either need to have used Ultra Nul-All or be using Auto-Protect and Def+20% to survive some of his moves (like Wakizashi). If he's hit a character with Kozuka that inflicts Full Break so the next hit kills them unless you Dispel.

Hi Phoenix, Is it for endgame content necessary to level up Magic? I have Tidus, Wakka and Auron in my 255 Status Team. And does it have any advantage to have rikku instead of auron? Thanks

Hi Xell. Magic isn't necessary at all; you can ignore it if you like. Rikku is better than Auron because you can use her Mix Overdrive, which is really useful. You can still beat all the Dark Aeons using Auron instead if you want to, though 👍

If you love Yuna, then do raise her magic. Yuna and Rikku can have high enough magic with optimal magic boosting custom weapons for luck sphere farming. Auron can be used to reflect the girls' double flares to Greater Sphere. I don't take credit for this strategy by the way.

@@greataether14n the bright side if you’re gonna leave early than you grind from him 👌👌👌👌👌 but I was so close to killing atleast one as Tidus and Yuna cause Rikku turn to dust lol and auto life didn’t save me from Zanmato after 30 minutes of battle and me thinking

@@destroyermcw626 Yeah totally, zanmato from DY negates auto-life and if you don't have armor with ribbon or stoneproof, daigoro turns you to stone or makes one of your chars dissapear. My Yuna, auron, tidus and rikku now have max 255 str, def, mag def and agility, high luck and accuracy too
