Final Fantasy X Tip Video:The Ultimate Armours and How To Craft Them

Hello and welcome to another Final Fantasy X tip video!
This one details the Ultimate Armours that you'll want to customize for the endgame portions of FFX for using throughout the Monster Arena and for fighting the Dark Aeons and Penance.

For a 9999 HP playthrough fighting the Dark Aeons you want the following armour for your main 3 party members:
Auto-Haste
Auto-Protect
Auto-Phoenix
Ribbon (or Stoneproof for the other 2 characters)
For Penance (also useful for Dark Yojimbo):
Auto-Haste
Auto-Protect
Auto-Potion
Def+20%
If using Wakka to farm Fortune Spheres from Earth Eater (highly recommended):
Auto-Haste
Auto-Regen
Auto-Shell
Deathproof
For a 99,999k playthrough, or any Break HP Limit playthrough, you want these Armours.n I'm going to assume that if you're putting in the time to get 99k HP you're going to put in the time for Ribbon too:
Break HP Limit
Ribbon
Auto-Haste
Auto-Regen
And for Penance:
Break HP Limit
Auto-Haste
Auto-Protect
Auto-Regen
If using Wakka to farm Fortune Spheres from Earth Eater (highly recommended):

Nah, its minimum bribe is 180k because it's always 10x the fiend's HP. 180-200k gets you roughly 40 Chocobo Wings though, usually.

On the Wakka Earth Eater BHPL armor, is there a specific reason that ribbon is worse than deathproof? Or is it just that it is difficult to get him ribbon before grinding earth eater?

bit late but ribbon is better than death proof cus petrified and shatter removes 1 character, and you can't get them back now you have to fight with 2 party member, and plus if they inflict death than most likely you have auto phoenix but if they inflict others status effect your whole party can be disable

Vincent Tran Thanks. My “Ultimate” BHPL armors have Auto-haste and Auto-Regen. So only room for one status defense ability (and no room for auto-Phoenix). In general, that would be Ribbon. However, for farming earth eater for fortune spheres, his megaton punch instakills, making death proof a necessity. So, essentially, Wakka gets a beta version of the ultimate armor with death proof instead of ribbon. Then eventually gets an upgraded version later if necessary (although its probably not needed if others have ribbon). Going against Earth Eater w/ auto-Phoenix instead of BHPL and Deathproof would be painfully slow, and it’s already slow enough as it is.

Let's just point out that you can knock earth eater over with other characters at the start of the fight. All it takes is two hits. After he is knocked down he never death-punches again.

Tip: bribe machea 180000 then if that doesn't work bribe 1 gil each turn, should still work in a few turns. I think this works on most bribes for half the recommended amount, provided you can survive a few turns.

Yeah, it's very slightly different in the INT/HD Remaster versions. The recommended amount is 25x the Monsters HP, not 20x. The minimum amount is still 10x their HP though. So yup for Machea, 180k is the minimum, then 1 gil bribes until it accepts it. It cam take a while though. I usually just go with 200k for convenience.

You have to speak to him on Mt Gagazet on the way up, then later after you get the Airship you go to Highbridge and view the scene there with Maester Mika. After that is finished, Wantz will be in Gagazet and will sell the 4 slot armours.

Would you recommend having on of these armors with auto med? Such as Rikku for example having ribbon and being able to heal your other party members who were inflicted with confusion.

Nah, because unfortunately the character can't heal themself if they get hit by Sleep or Confusion. It's not a great ability tbh.

Yeah, easily. If you look at the playlists on my channel, there is one of me beating all of the Dark Aeons with Rikku having Haste/Protect/Phoenix/Ribbon and the other two having Haste/Protect/Phoenix/Stoneproof.

It's not really worth it; you can beat everything in the game legitimately with just 9999 HP. I have done a Stat Maxing Guide on my channel for a Break HP Limit playthrough showing his to do it as efficiently as possible, so check that out if you want to 👍

So even if I do a BHPL armour (I'm just finishing up capturing and will be starting your BHPL playlist shortly), I'm better off not using that against penance? The penance armour looks comparatively easy to craft compared to the others.

Yeah, one of the irritating things about Ribbon is that it doesn't protect against the Breaks, so Penance isn't much different. You'd either need to use the Break HP/Haste/Ribbon/Regen and heal on some turns, or craft Break HP/Regen/Haste/Protect armour separately for 3 characters which is annoying.

I've killed Penance a couple of times with BHPL/haste/regen/ribbon gear on all 3 characters. It takes a little bit longer (maybe 10 minutes?) compared to the optimal strat, but it's perfectly viable.

I got an armor drop with ribbon and break HP limit for Yuna from an original fiend. I just don't know which one. But, it wasn't Penance as I don't have him unlocked on this playthrough yet

It must've been one of the Dark Aeons; they're the only ones that drop Ribbon.

@@russelldurant4796 All of them have a chance of dropping it, though it is a small chance of getting Break HP/Ribbon + 2 free slots, and even smaller chance (like, 0.7%!) of getting Ribbon/3 free slots.

You can get dark matter in the species fight with juggernaut keep fighting him or one eye you can get 2 dark matter

All the arena creations drop Dark Matter as their rare drop, but it's only a 1/8th chance.

For ribbon...if you farm chrimeragiest for an hour, you can get 27-35 dark matters. And still make your money back. I have ribbon on 4 of my characters

Ribbon can be farmed from dark yojimbo, sometimes you rewarded an armor with either break hp limit,ribbon,or curseproof ability

Yep, Dark Yojimbo is the way. My Stat Maxing series covers that and shows the best way to do it. Sleep Sprout would be the best arena creation to do it against if you wanted to try it that way. It only has 99k so takes one hit instead of two like Chimaerageist, and it drops better/more valuable stuff as it's common drops.

On the remastered version you can farm dark yojimbo very fast on x4 who always drops 2 dark matters per kill and has a chance of dropping ribbon armor to begin with. After farming him for a few hours you will have more dark matters than you know what to do with.

Yeah it's still essential. Agility matters, but Haste matters a lot more.

Actually I agree but I prefer autoprotect only on tidus and yuna and auto phoenix on all the others, so in the water battle with shinryu rikku and wakka have autophoenix and in the battles with the dark eons yuna can survive better to summon her 8 (10) eons

The whole point of BHPL is to get auto-regen on there as well. Auto-phoenix also gives negative value on an armor like that because you will rez with very low health.

Very informative video. I do find it irritating that Ribbon doesn't prevent any of the -breaks (for the longest time I thought it did). Death, curse and eject I kind of understand but why not any of the -breaks?

Great video, but it left me sad. I'm so, so freaking far from being even close to beating this game. I spent so long leveling up the entire party. I'm 70 hours in and I bet I'd need to Double it to get max armors, celestial weapons, catch 10 of everyone for the monster arena, beat all the dark Aeons and whatever else there is 🤣🤣

These all use game breaking mechanics, you can actually kill everything with Yojimbo aslong as you keep paying him the right amounts and keep him happy then he will 1 shot a dark aeon for you lol I had to do it to get anima an valefors better overdrive so I just cheesed dark valefor with yojimbo 1 shot

Nice, thank you bud. Your guides really helped me get my characters op big time and get the max sphere grid achievements. Though I actually didn't keep the mag defs I put on for the achievements. Wound up with 255 everything except 130 luck and standard 9999 health. All the top tier strategists I watched all superbosses with 9999 health. I actually didn't know I needed it for Yojimbo, I just farmed him 24 times to get a second ribbon to put on Waka. I suppose that extra def would've spared needing auto life on to make it through his Yakazazhis,

The easiest way to beat anything at all in the game is to use Yuna with first strike summon yojimbo with full overdrive gauge then pay whatever amount you want and hope for zanmato. I have gotten multiple auto zanmato uses without needing to pay. Not sure of the chances but it has been a different experience using yojimbo alot more.

My recommendation to many people who want to have fun with the game is to never use auto phoenix Auto phoenix changes the game drastically. Its so broken that once you unlock it the game becomes and entire different thing, almost all enemies in the game can no longer defeat you and you no longer need to play with a strategy, buffs, debuffs, healing or care, because you have more or less unlocked inmortality. Its impressive how much it ruins the game Only exception is enemies that can kill all your party with one hit, but then why would you use auto phoenix against them anyway

You need it on at least one character's armour otherwise you're pretty much screwed against Dark Anima because of Mega Graviton, and you'd have a much harder time versus the Magus Sisters (especially if fought together) because of Terra Graviton. If you're getting BHPL armours for a 99k playthrough then you should definitely get BHPL/Ribbon/Haste/Regen as that's the best BHPL armour and they take ages to get anyway, so you might as well get the optimal setup. It is irritating that Ribbon doesn't protect and Death or the breaks though.

A year late but Dispel isn't technically a status ailment, it's just a spell that removes buffs. Good luck trying to defeat the Dark Aeons without at least one person with Ribbon (without relying on Yojimbo's Zanmato either) 😉
