Well, I just defeated Dark Bahamut for the first time. That required grinding but seriously thank God for Turbo in the HD Remaster for the PC. Cause' I can get a tonne of stuff without spending too much time on fighting Dark Yojimbo (which is actually quite fun to do at 4x speed.)

Honestly, I hate that they block this off. After beating Yunalesca, I went down the stairs behind her and was like "huh that's weird it just teleports me to the front of the room" and I left without even seeing the chest. Now I can't get Tidus' weapon upgraded because of this stupid shit. I didn't want to Zanmato cheese, but holy fuck. This is gonna be a pain in the ass. I probably have to power level a different character just to beat him so I can actually prepare Tidus for the other bosses.

I remember first time trying to get the Sun Crest and going back to Zanarkand not realising Dark Aeons were a thing and bricking myself upon being attacked by this thing, especially having not saved the game for a while! Mercifully I payed Yojimbo all my money and he used Zanmato 😅

I always questioned why Dark Bahamut is here of all places. Cause assuming it's Yevonites that are summoning the Dark Aeons, this is the one that seems out of place cause it's in a location very unlikely for Yuna to revisit. I mean sure a few other places are unlikely too, but there's literally nothing left in Zanarkand....

What made this easier was I maxed yuna instead of tidus the same way in your tutorials cause I didn't know about the sun crest. I was able to defeat this guy by quick hits and summoning all aeons when it's the 5th hit with an overdrive to deal 99,999, damage. Aeon will take the impulse hit and megaflare while my characters quick hit till bahamit died. Didn't have to use a single character overdrive and one character got attacked once. With some dark aeons, yes. Dark Valefor, Ifrit, maybe Ixion, Maybe Shiva but she may be too fast and Yojimbo. Dark Bahumut, Anima and Magus Sisters are too powerful. Magus sisters individually is a maybe but probably not cause curse is cancer.

I was able to beat dark bahamut with rikku, tidua, and wakka with 255 strength and the rest 100-170 and luck 20ish. He can be difficult if u don't know how to beat him. One thing that makes him easy is that you can predict his moves

This and Anima were my most feared challenges. So much so that I farmed for BHPL Perfect stats... Waste of time. 99999 HP is completely overkill for everything besides Penance. Lol. I thought Mega Flare and Oblivion would destroy me, but with maxed defenses, it kinda just fizzled.

I've killed Dark Valefor, Ifirit, Ixion, Shiva, and Nemisis. I've had my aeons and Tidus use their overdrives to damage them. Ended up with Yuna getting the overkill on all of them exept for Valefor. I tried to quick hit to charge her overdrive.

Why Slice/Dice over Blitz Ace? Doesn't Blitz Ace slash a bunch more times? Or is it a recovery time matter?

The Sean I think slice and dice has more chance for critical hits. It is better to use that over blitz ace for stronger monsters such as dark aeons and earth eater.

If slice and dice can deal 50k+ per slice then this would mean that the enemy has high defense. If that is the case each slice of blitz ace can deal around 25k. If you sum up the damage of 6x50k to 8x25k(i rarely include the ball damage since it you can easily miss the fast gauge and this is a long fight so you might miss a couple of times) slice and dice has more damage. Plus it has a faster recovery time much like attack reels

When you beat yunaleska go to the stairs in front of you, you'll have to do it twice after the chest will appear, if you leave you have to fight dark bahamut in order to get the crest

Not to mention it is an attack that will add to the counterattack limit, and since he does use the aeons at around after the 4th attack and he uses an aeon's Overdrive, not only will it not do much damage, but it will counter with Impulse first, more than likely killing off summon and bringing the party back in, before it uses Megaflare, which will give him no time to react at all seeing as the last move he used was to summon a shielder.

Suzie Cao no, but they make your life easier and are definitely worth having. But there is no "requirement" that you have them.

dansg08 Ok... the reason I asked was because I've been using Lulu throughout the entire game/journey/pilgrimage and she's one of my strongest character with maxed stat. I also got her luck up to 185, but getting her celestial weapon was a pain and too time consuming. It was a total FAIL for me (and I loved using your lightning dodging method), but some how I just couldnt' get it past 179 and then Tidus would trip (so frustrating X(). I got this break damage limit weapon from Yojimbo for Lulu (idk how I managed to beat him the first time) and customized it just like her celestial weapon, except it only did half of the actual damage her celestial weapon could actually inflicted. Instead of 99,999 it was only 48,534. Dark Bahamut wiped me out in mere seconds. Anyways, sorry for the ranting and thank you so much for replying me back. Your FFX walkthroughs are the best :) Please consider on doing a few more walkthroughs for FFXIII and FFXIII - Lighting returns too :D

I think it depends on whether your characters will die frequently or not during the battle. Auto haste will help characters be delayed less when revived

I'm probably going to sound insane for saying this, but I feel they made Dark Bahamut too easy by making him only counter every 5th hit. I wish they would have made it randomly counter with impulse about 20% of the time which would have made it much less predictable. Any other masochistic challenge seekers feel the same lol?

That's what I meant about the predictability, if DB's attacks had a 50/50 or 66/33 split between regular and impulse it would have been pretty good I think. Impulse being a rank 1 move or inflicting a significant delay. If you are into tougher challenges do some reading up on pdbirdman's FFX mod which has completely re-vamped stats and attacks and can be played on an emulated PS2 version of the game.

Yeah some hardcore gamers or NSG even says Bahamut is just easiest dark aeons with this setup. In most dark aeons, all you need is just 1 character with max stats while other just fill 170 Agility + auto haste. You even can toy them with Trio of 9999 then Lulu cast Drain Fury that deal 50k-70k damage (5-7 x 9999). that's equal for around 150 STR. Really the most problem exist in NSG game is lack of Agility...

I found out about the celestial weapons only after beating Yunalesca ( Which trying to bear her was a pain in the ass ) and getting the airship. And then i missed the crest for tidus and when i heard that you had to fight dark bahamut to get it i was annoyed as heck as im extremely under-leveled to fight him so i think i’m just gonna use zanmato on him xD.

This doesn't seem like a very fun battle when you have all the stat numbers needed to always hit him. I might go into this with less luck than I need. Just to make it interesting.

Not being able to hit him won't really make the battle more fun. If you have low luck all you can do is just use attack reels, and make sure you are prepared for impulse after the 5th one, it's just a longer, more drawn out version of this battle. If strength/defence/agility are maxed he's already going to be too easy. If you really want a challenge I'd take him on with a party that can't survive impulse, then having to use hyper mighty guard before each impulse and shields before mega flare might make things more interesting.

dansg08 Well I figured having maybe 70 luck rather than 85 would make it so I only hit him some of the time. Not knowing if my hit is gonna connect might make things more interesting. Or just more drawn out like you said. We'll see. Unfortunately, all my other stats are maxed so it's too late to go that route.

AndroxineVortex cheer and the other versions of that stat boosting can not be dispelled. It only wears off when being petrified or die.

Probably Kimahri/Auron because their celestials have counter attack/evade and counter for extra damage. Auron will obviously not do max damage at 9999/99999 hp though remember that. You can defeat the Dark Aeons with any of the characters, Wakka is just good because of the evade & counter and attack reels.

I've seen Dark Kefka go through all these fights. From what I saw, Dark Bahamut is definitely the toughest fight in the game. Penance is just long but predictable.

At lower levels, Dark Bahamut is the toughest Dark Aeon. The Dark Magus sisters combined isn't too far behind. But even Bahamut is a pushover, like I said in the video he can be defeated by never even pressing the attack button :)

What i did , is i used auron tidus and yuna , get their strength maxed , get agility up to 180ish What i did is make sure at least one has ribbon and all has auto Phoenix amd auto haste , use quick hit , make sure their overdrive mode is comrade so its easier to build overdrive up then when it is use it straight away , when his overdrive is up bring out a aeon use their overdrive and he uses his , when all the aeons are dead make sure do it plenty of time, when his overdrive up put auto life on all when come back, all three overdrives are ready use auron and tidus overdrive , use entrust with yunas to whoever and carry on like that, make sure if only one has ribbon , have their hp full at all times and use esuna with one other (when they get status elements) then of the one with ribbon dies one will bring them back I hope i helped :)

i had no trouble with him. my main 3 had 255 att and def and 73-75 luck but i did have 3 ribbon armour, also same stats with anima. (just beat them before watching this). beat them both easily. only got magus sisters left now

Meh. Easy solution: power level and get break hp and MP limit with all characters. Still need to get this, as my original save has break damage, hp, and mp limits, all powerful weapons, and insane armor. Rikku having guillionare and master thief are the best things i did for her

He can be defeated much more quickly if your characters have the right stats/equipment and you know what you are doing.

Well, I am indeed aware of this, my three main characters have 255 Agility and Luck, but only has the basic sphere grid for the rest of the stats. Since I grinded my Yojimbo to the point where he Zanmatos pretty much anything if I give him 132k Gils, I just do it, it's much easier and much quicker.
