Is a 'DD Tier' video a bad idea? I think there are some objectively stronger ones out there but it might be a tad too controversial given how situational things can be in Endgame. Thoughts?

I think a tier list for DDs would only serve to discourage someone from using/gearing less meta jobs, and furthermore they contributes to those same jobs being demonized and less accepted by the community. Tier lists can be fun to make and discuss, but I think this game has a longstanding issue with community perception for certain jobs, and maybe it would even run counter to your efforts to showcase the strengths of jobs you've made videos for previously.

You should definitely make it! i agree with @sfxsigma however that will only deter the weak minded. Most people in the game nowadays play the job they want and if they want to get in the l33t epeen pissing match they do it by choice. Also on my humble opinion your older videos will not take a negative hit, in contrast they will get more positive reviews since your videos are like bgwiki job guides but more in depth and tweaked. Look at the tier DD list like this, the video will be like your favorite cake recipe and all “job videos” and “internet guides”will be like each family member’s version to make that cake. You either test each recipe out to see who can make it or just sit there and enjoy the one that makes you smile everyday without a care in the world. I hope i made sense but if not, meh i tried LOL

For such a list, you would need a really hard evidence and that would be super hard to actually get. Parses are based by player skills, lags (especially dynamis) and other random factors. Sheet numbers are accurate, but sometimes doesnt transfer well to game and are also based on very spcific sets, buffs and assuming nonthing will change during the fight. Simulation numbers are probably something in between but I dont think you will find simulations for all DDs. You could make something obvious like - When you need Skillchains, then Samurai is one of the best DDs for that, but then you go into details and if you need only light skillchains, then WAR and MNK are also great for it. Darkness? then DNC and DRG are also great or even better than SAM. Then you would need to cover scenarios where fight is 30 sec long, 3 min long, 10 min long. With SP and without SP, prebuff or not prebuff, escha or not escha and MANY many more. It's maybe doable, but I think to make it really accurate you will need to spend more time on that video, than on all your videos so far combined. Also one update could completely break that tier list. Like for example incoming DRK update or how MNK update changes a lot of things.

It would get a lot of views. But it won't really be able to be taken to the letter as job balance tends to shift with patches and new gears. Maybe a better idea would be to make a video about how to go about evaluating DD jobs beyond just eyeballing huge ws numbers and calling it top shelf. This is ffxi afterall, and a top DD in one fight can be the bottom tier one on the next fight. The best DD is the one that's well played, with an understanding of the gear it's using. But ppl like their list! And such a list would make you lots of view I think.

The AH will usually sell Panaceas and Remedies for only a fraction of the price the Curio Moogle charges. It's not a good idea to buy from them, especially for newer players.

I have a clever idea to reach ingress 9 without any aggro no sneak and invis req. once you warp into reisenjima talk to the goblin and pretend you wanted to join Dom invasions but don’t enter just get the buff and you can walk the entire map while under Dom invasion buff you won’t get aggro at all even walked infront of any mob anytime and any day. Once you get to ingress 9 click it and go back to 1 then take off the Dom invasions buff and you’re done. Congratulations you just get ingress 9 without trouble. That same strats get me through zitah and ruan without any trouble

This was really good. Looking forward to BRD. I’ve got a friend who has all BIS for BRD somehow missing lullaby sleep cap. I watched a JP video for master trial “a letter from Riesenjima” and the BRD in their sleeps everyone for 8 min give or take. Ours is only hitting 5 and yes he has mythic weapon. Thanks again!

I want to say even if you swap back to an instrument in your midcast; because you started the song without one, regardless it will only make use of singing. Same for geomancer.

Don’t forget the hepatizon weapons give access to other WS as well. The Gaxe, for example, gives DRK full break - great when soloing

Question: Treasure Hunter vs. drop rate of Pulse Weapons? I figure it is the same as defending ring, but wanted to check. I am actually for you making a "DD Tier", because I know that you, like me, are partial towards Monk and would do it justice. I believe you would causally explain the importance of every DD job, even when they may not be as useful as others in situations (a rare gift in mmo's).

It's not the same as the defending ring. Treasure Hunter has no impact on drop rate. All Treasure Hunter does is impact additional item slots. Whether that item slot is a pulse weapon or is entirely random. Certain Notorious Monsters only have one item slot and is not influenced by Treasure Hunter such as King Behemoth but that list is very small.

Ruaumoko I’ve been checking and I can’t find a any corroborating statements or testing on the wiki or elsewhere. At most I can vaguely recall from when dnc first came out that people were complaining that the debuff DOESNT affect the entire alliance and probably makes multiple dnc disrupt each other due to there being only one samba debuff allowed at a time.

Not really? Retail it maybe gets 2k online across the half dozen servers. Full of grognards too, the fact that the first tip he gives is about animename-jima? Yea that shit takes forever and is mostly solo. Expect to spend 2-3 months grinding alone before you're a person to a FFXI player in 2019.

How are you drawing the conclusion that Treasure hunter doesnt affect somethings drop rate just because it shares a slot with a guaranteed item? How are you presuming you know how it's programmed, it could be programmed different ways. The fact that it shares a slot with a guaranteed item does not logically entail it doesn't. Thought I do believe that the raw hard numbers actually support this idea, but it's still a huge fallacy to just assume it doesn't

We've been playing this game for 20 years. D.ring has literally millions upon millions of data points from years and years annd years of people testing it. FFXI is datamined on the regular, and enough of it's code is known for people to be able to make custom content, balance changes and mechanics for private servers. There are other, MUCH HIGHER drop rate items you can very very very easily test this off of, such as multiple 50/50 drop rates, or 60/40, 66/34, etc. rates. We're not presuming anything. It's called science, empirical data collection, 20 years of accumulated knowledge. ...and multiple dev interviews, JP gaming magazines, etc. all confirming what all of that information is pointing at. arguing how TH works at this point is basically like arguing how tides work IRL.

lol started playing on Eden server... made over 100,000 gil before lvl 10 by buying items from AH and handing them into NPC's for repeatable quests... when I first started back in 2004 I remember cursing picking Red Mage as I could not afford the spells and gear.. now its LOL

@@prolaeusmorris6540 I tried ff14... after leaving wow... and FF14 felt like they took FF11 and shoved a bunch of WoW stuff (ie make leveling faster, easier to get gear, everything streamlined and dumbed down)... I considered wow Classic for a harder MMO style.. but Im done with blizzard (I boycotted them far before the blizzchung thing) and I am sooo glad I went back to FF11.... exactly want I want from a MMO... I love how hard it is, because when you figure out stuff, like how to make money well, you really feel like you accomplished something, that was really hard to do.
