I am gagged to read the summoning animations were removed from the remastered versions. While watching I kept thinking ''Wow, those glyphs are so pleasing to the eyes, and the sound design is stunning'', only to read the comments and learn about the cut

It's sad they dont have the summoning animations anymore, should have had a toggle option instead. But it does take away from Cid summoning Famfrit because if that's the first time you see that animation you can't make the connection he's summoning an actual esper till the music kicks in

Most beautiful attack: Chaos in my opinion. Ultima is stylish; Addramelech is exactly like Storm's lighting storm; Fanfrit... I love the clouds and water effects: Zalera rocks because of shamaness only; Hashmal is cool; Exodus is nice. The others doesn't worth my comments. I'm a Pisces though.

It really sucks they removed this from the PS4 version. Theories have it that it’s purely a loading screen pause but it was more then that, it added just the right sense of texture when you call out an Esper. I mean, your calling out fallen gods to fight by your side and that requires a bit of dramatic entrance rather then POP “I’m here bitches! Let’s go kill some fiends!” Granted it’s nice for speed runners but they could have had an option to turn the animations on and off via settings. Added - My favorite Esper is Cuchulainn the Impure. Why? I just find his lore absolutely fascinating in that he was originally designed to be a sin eater but due to the world being filled with more evil then the gods could ever have imagined and after he consumed it all, it transformed him into the monster he is. I sort of feel a connection there for often I’m the “Sin Eater” when situations arise and over time I’ve noticed the negative effects. Aside from that, I like how he can heal himself by consuming enemies with his tactic attack and always has reflect with reflect break. In FF Tactics he had a mouth with teeth on his belly and his attack was “Nightmare” which did a bunch of nasty status effects.

@@petrus9067 Apperently it was removed due to complaints it was too long and unnecessary via Twitter glitter type gamers. All they had to do was add a feature like in FF10 where you can shorten the summon animations and/or remove them altogether. I believe FF12 on PS2 had this very function and I have no idea why they felt it was Okey just to remove it altogether. I’m wondering if there was an issue in the system transfer from PS2 to PS4. I honestly don’t know, I know little to nothing on game coding but I do hear that Japanese game coders have a bad habit in tight packing coding to the point it’s almost a mess. FF7 was said to be an absolute nightmare for code miners and they said it’s amazing the game even works as well as it dose due to how tangled and tightly condensed everything was.

Probably the Scions of Light, considering the Espers you get in XII are the Scions of Darkness with the sole exception of Zodiark, which doesn't have a known counterpart.

I didn't even realize these were based off the Zodiacs! I'm a Libra, but tbh, Zeromus has to be my fave just because spooky eye claw. :P Even though he's pretty useless due to Gravity attack and not being able to really deal damage to most opponents. Plus Zeromus was the final (main) boss from my 2nd fave FF game: IV, so it only seems right, haha.

Yes, if you know how to use them. They have an ability that makes all of their abilities cost 0. So you can use siphon to drain their MP and gain back most of what you used to summon them. They can be quite fun to use, especially Zodiark, as his Ultimate is spammable. Just use petrify on yourself and he activates it for massive damage. 50,000 on normal folk, 35,000 on certain secret bosses.

I literally, just pop a summon, use Siphon, let them fight until time is almost up, then trigger their ultimates. Or if I don't want them for that long, just pop Siphon and spam Zodiark. I get back most of the MP I used on him, so I'm not vulnerable.

In the original PS2 version...not really. They didn’t have much health and were only useful in taking out low lvl enemies but in Zodiac Age for PS4, holy cow they got a HUGE make over and you can control them! Any Esper that’s a 2 bar or higher is basically a boss slayer. I had Exodus solo my favorite Esper, the fat guy whose name I cannot spell, at lvl 29-30.

the reason why he use Ashe for all the summons is because Ashe have the highest mp and highest magic power....so she is very usefull for summoning in compensation for the low hp

Never actually liked the summons in FFXII... Maybe the summon sequences of VII-X spoiled me, but these ones just feel boring... Also, most of their ultimate attacks felt like they got stuck in a build-up loop but then had anti-climatic pay-offs. Either that, or they just plain felt confusing, like like whoever designed them wasn't sure where, exactly, they wanted the sequences to go... "Okay, so, it creates a huge fire ball in the sky! And then, uh, it leaps up into the air! And it slams its weapon down into the ground again! And then the ground splits apart! And there's some kinda black orb or something there, I dunno?! Aaand thennn... uuuhhh... EVERYTHING STARTS BURNING!" ...doesn't help that I never particularly cared for their designs, either...
