- How to find the GREAT TRANGO guaranteed!
The Great Trango is quite simply, the single best 1H sword that can be found in The Zodiac Age. With 153 Attack and 90 Evade, it will unleash havoc on your enemies. Great combined with the powerful Gendarme Shield.

The normal spawn rate for The Great Trango is 1 in 10,000 (1/100 for chest * 1/100 for sword to appear in the chest) but that just won't do! Fortunately, the RNG in Final Fantasy XII can be manipulated perfectly by using Reks to change the in-game variables to the player's favour.

One thing I would add, is that you can use Reks to manipulate the spawn of pretty much any item in the game - there are even third party tools available to help you find the Cure values that you need but I will leave that for another time.

Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

Late to the party here but one thing that helped me keep my sanity doing the saves is that you don't have to keep running to the crystal then away from the crystal. Stay next to the crystal and use Square to open the menu to heal yourself and use Cross (X) to interact with the crystal for MP. This makes it easier to do it in 4x speed.

Great walkthrough, thank you. I got three of these swords for my party. I did take me a couple of tries at first. I forgot to turn off gambits, and also forgot to dispel the buffs on my character. Once I remembered those two things, it worked perfectly. I was lucky enough to only spend a couple of minutes on each Reks portion getting the 97/88/86 combo.

No matter what I do, the megaelixir doesnt spawn? maybe i picked it up at an earlier stage?...do i keep running in and out of rooms till it spawns again?

I have done what the vid and cannot get it. The only thing different is I grabbed the megaelixir awhile back in the game. I wanna get this sword but all I get is Gil or knot of rust. I even tried with and without diamand bracket.

Actually, the official strategy guide from Primagames states that the chest itself has a 40% spawn chance and with the Diamond Armlet equipped, it has 5% chance of containing the sword. Don’t know if the guide made an error there but if it’s correct, then the odds aren’t as low as 1/10000..

First of all, great and helpful videos. I'm a bit confused by the cure numbers with Reks though. I've seen at least 3 different sequences that others have posted on different sites. Is this the only sequence of numbers that works, or are there different possibilities? (I hope so, because I can't seem to get 97 at all, lol.)

Finally got it to work as of 07/28/2020. The hard part was the cure sequence, I read in the comments hit 3 or 5 times and that didn’t work, it took me an hour. I tried not hitting and it worked within a minute of cure casting. Try what will work for you I guess.

Here after getting the Wyrmhero blade, and it went to Basch, :). This one is going to vaan. I never got the wyrmhero blade in the original ps2 game, but it was somewhat easily accessible in the remastered in level 50 of the trial mode. I wanted to give Basch, Vossler's blade, but plot points had other plans and threw it in the trash.

What's better to have? This sword and the shield or the seitengrat? You can't have the shield and the bow due to the arrows taking the off-hand item. I got the Seitengrat for the whole party and it does one shot everything outside of bosses and the evade is quite high, but the shield has MAX evade for magic and regular.... I'm conflicted on what gear to be using as well.

I've tried over 10 hrs to get the saitengrat can't get the chest to appear at all. Tried multiple methods to no avail. Do you need to do anything between casting heal on reks? Seems weird to do one set of heels and then start the next with nothing in between.

Which console at the time you made this post if its ps4 than you need to get the rerks heal numbers in succession should take 4 or 5 refreshes at the save crystal to get the numbers than load up your auto save from the deck than find the chest quickly it will be invisible but you will be stopped than you wait till the guy running up and down the stairs does it 4 times count only when he runs up once the 4th time comes he will head up its all about timing touch the chest right when he puts his foot on the ground, you will get it 100% every time but you gotta be fast and move the camera quick enough remember the guy has already ran up the stairs one time before you find the chest, if you dont get it but did everything else right your timing is off its not your console its your timing.

Great video! So I have a question. Does changing equipment in the menu affect the RNG? I followed your video closely, but forgot to equip my party leader with diamond armlet and remove weapon before loading the reks save. When I got 97,88,86- I loaded auto save, changed equips, attacked once, cured once, and got gil. The next time, I followed your video exactly by making sure equips were set before doing the reks manipulation, and it worked. I didn't think changing equips in menu would affect RNG, but it seems like it does. Do you know for sure? Thanks for the great video!

E Tard The diamond armlet is essential, along with the seitengrat and other extremely powerful weapons, they can only spawn in the chest with the diamond armlet equipped, everything else he changed in the menu was to make sure he did 0 damage to himself

uglybros279 oh, rereading my comment and I didn't word it properly haha. Yes, I had the diamond armlet equipped. What I was saying was that I forgot to equip it BEFORE quitting out and resetting the RNG. So I equipped it after I restarted the game and reloaded. Does equipping it (or changing any equipment really) move the RNG? Because I loaded my autosave, equipped the diamond armlet, attacked once, cured once, and then activated the chest. It didn't work. But doing it the other way around (having it equipped before loading the auto save) worked.

Yes, every action and every little thing causes the RNG to move around. Thats why the instructions need to be followed to a specific degree. Everything has a value, everything you do alters the value.

As of January 22nd 2021 this still works. Getting the reks healing sequence is not that hard it will take about 5 to 7 refreshes at the save crystal with reks to get the heal numbers required , next for those that dont understand hitting yourself for 0 damage pushes you down the RNG list by 10 spots. 4 times speed with reks as well it should take you about 5 minutes max to hit the numbers. the reks numbers are for the chest to spawn hit yourself cure you will get it 100%

As of October 2020 this is still working and I think exploiting this actually increases the chance of the the ACTUAL great Trango chest spawning considering it literally spawned after I walked in and out of the room to auto save the progress for this. So be sure to be on the lookout for that.

great! Works perfectly :) one thing though, you can actually kill magick pot whithout having an elixir. This is not recommended though, because it has very powerful magick attacks like flare and that can easly kill you. You will need a very high magick avade, the Shield Gendarme is recommended. On top of that you can't hit it With normal attacks only tecknicks i think so a good gambit is foe nearest visible telekinesis on Three characters. Remember dont do this at first encounter in Pharos, wait till Your high Level if fighting magick pot this way.
