Very nice analysis of FFXIII. Your video has inspired me to consider replaying it a 2nd time. I don't think this game is underrated, it has 83% on Metacritic, which is a fine score considering its strengths and weaknesses relative to other mainline FF games. We FF fans can go full Kefka when crapping on our least favorite entries in the series. Can we all agree that FFXIII is definitely better than XV at least?

Really enjoyed this video! 13 was my first FF game to play and I have loved it ever since. I'm really enjoying the recent surge in 13 series hype I'm seeing online. The temptation to replay all the games back to back and finally get those platinum trophies

Hopefully with the resurgence of positive opinions on the 13 series. Hopefully we can get 4k remaster soon like FF12 did.

There’s tons of symbolism in this game that so many people missed, right down to the crystarium, eidolons, and fighting styles. The story is very involved and has layers pertaining to North American and south Asian philosophy as well. Best of luck on the plot videos, I hope you get more views because you’re the best.

Final Fantasy 13 is my second most favorite FF game ( FFX is the first ). If anyone is new to FF series, I recommend those two games. Why ? 1.Sphere Grid and Crystarium are straightfoward + not complicated yet interesting when it comes to characters development for new players. Being way too variable in customizing your characters from the early games like FF8 Junstion Systems or FF12 Jobs License can be quite confusing. 2. Both games are have more colorful and non-European theme than many of other games of the series. Someone will ask " What about FF7 ?" Well, to me, FF7 is something else, don't know how to describe this properly. 3. Main characters is less than 8 characters. We don't have too litte or too option to form a party in battle. Yet, the story can be split equally for every one to shine. Yes, like what you said, every character in FF13 has their own things to achieving/overcoming/redeeming before heading out to beat the final big bad evil force than just a gang of people who has a same goal from the start.

I know people hate on FF13 but when I was playing it for the first time, I had such an amazing experience and the music just adds another layer to immerse you into the game (*odin boss battle, Barthandelus, venturing Oerba, etc.). I stopped at Oerba's boss battle and did not continue because my younger brother destroyed my ps3 after raging playing need for speed. One day I want to continue though.

Well it's on steam and goes on sale a lot during the year if you want to play it on PC and pick it up again. But you will have to install the FF13 fix mod to make run well. But the mod is really easy to install and a lot of videos on KZbin about how to do it. But I hope Square just dose a remaster of people don't have deal with all of that. Also thanks for watching.

I beg to differ on the criticism of the game's linearity. It's not that the game is linear that people don't like. FFX is still well-liked by a lot of fans with its linear structure of gameplay even before 13. What people actually meant about linearity of 13 is that there is nothing else to do. You just keep on fighting and pushing on and on and on from one end of the hallway to the next and it can give people fatigue. FFX and 7r have breaks in narrative and side activity which alleviate the fatigue of having to engage in the same gameplay loop over and over. I think Sazh and Vanille's sections are pretty under-utilized since they have the most reason to get away from the same gameplay loop in their section. I really wish there were more section like in Nautilus where characters can just relax a bit and do other things. They could have a stealth section or so while being fugitive. I like the Taejin Tower the most because it at least give the illusion of solving a puzzle, so it's not that bad, plus it's a cool looking place. The gameplay is pretty fun tho. When you start to get a hang of it, it become good. It made me realize how smart this game is. The intro section does sell the game quite short in terms of gameplay unfortunately. If they could have made the intro shorter and with some more stuff to play with than just attack, group attack, and throwing potion, the impression of the gameplay wouldn't be as bad. Automated commands make a lot of sense when you start playing with paradigms, but early on when you don't have to instantly input barrage of commands together, it really feels like there's nothing "to play". The characters are pretty complex. I think they can make it this way because of the advancement in graphic at the time. They can have really fluid and smooth expressions on faces that can help convey more subtle emotions. It's also one of the first mainline FF where characters in your party all have a clear agenda of their own. Luckily, I first experienced this game on a JP version so my favorite character can be Vanille, lol.

I love FF13, its the first final fantasy I completed. Gave me the willpower to go back and completed the other i had palyed

While I do think the story is amazing, I absolutely dislike the battle system as it feels incredibly automated. Yes, you have to switch the roles of each character a lot, but it still feels more like an “AI” if anything at all. I believe more fixed roles and a 7r like battle system would help a lot.
