I'm a new FFXIV player. I jumped straight into tanking because I hate myself, and I watched this before my first Aurum Vale attempt. The group was blown away because "SO many tanks fuck this dungeon up" These guides are phenomenal and they really take the edge off jumping into the game so late. Thank you :)

Just started playing FFXIV this past January. It's my first MMO, and as a newborn sprout White Mage I can't express how much your dungeon guides have helped me and countless other sprouts. I ran Aurum Vale for the first time tonight with 3 random experienced players. Surprisingly, we only wiped once because I forgot to eat the fruit when we fought the locksmith. Our party's tank was very patient and encouraging, and really helped take the edge off this crazy dungeon. Keep up the awesome dungeon guides. Thank you so much!

When I unlocked this dungeon it was optional but now grand companies are requiring it in order to unlock Amdapor Keep. They are also requiring The Sunken Temple of Qarn as well. I found this video extememly helpful. I am a LVL 50 WHM and couldn;t keep up with the healing because my party didn't eat the fruit.

This dungeon is the first time I've felt overwhelmed in a dungeon. After the first wipe, my hands wouldn't stop shaking, and my eyes went paranoid at all data. It wasn't until that second attempt at the final boss that I realized that debuffs appear on the other side of my status bar. And the fight got a whole lot manageable after that...... My hands are still shaking though. This was definitely both my best and worst experience in the game. Being overwhelmed by the game, and then finding out what went wrong, how to fix it, and executing said fix. AND WAIT, THERE'S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO UNLOCK AMDAPOR?

Aside from the pet the other big reason to run this dunegon is that it's a requirement for Immortal Flames Grand Company rank up from Chief Flame Sgt.

@@phishmastermike it's honestly not that bad. Dungeon has even been nerfed a bit. Just watch for tank pulling entire first room and pay attention to where you stand and stacks of the boss debuffs.

This dungeon is actually great for leveling. Seedlings give like 3000 exp a peice if allowed to spawn.

Three things of note; Locksmith has a frontal AoE "Thousand Lashings" that deals moderate damage. Tanks should be aware and face the boss away (which is common sense anyway but still...). The final boss has an attack called "Hooked Burrs" that also adds stacks of the debuff, this means keeping an eye on your debuff ammount is slightly more crucial then with Locksmith. Finally, if you do get Seedlings, their attacks can also add a stack of the debuff. Love your guides, they have kept me sane.

These videos are super helpful, tho as one who loves linguistics, I wish the names in them were pronounced correctly; since _many_ people could hear it here and assume it's correct. *Coerthas* is meant to be pronounced [KӘR-thəs] (that's a voiced TH), not [kə-RITH-əs] (that's a voiceless TH). That's how the voice actors in the game pronounce it anyway. Another example is Roegadyn: [RӘ-gə-din]. It's a Modern English approximation of the sound of OE (Œ) from Old English and Old (and modern) Icelandic. Similarly, AE (Æ) is pronounced like the A in "ash", EI is like in "eight", and AU as "ow", UI is probably "wee". Unless of course it's not Hyuran or Roegadynian. Also, the rule for Modern English is: emphasize the first syllable unless it's a prefix. So all Hyuran and Roegadynian names get emphasis on the first syllable.

you need to do this dungeon before being able to continue the quest named "a relic reborn (curtana)" because it unlocks the "ghost of amdapor" quest wich is also a requirement for the "a relic reborn (curtana) quest. Note that this is only needed as a paladin

i swear that aurum vale is actually cursed. every single time i've gone in there with a party, no matter what role something always goes wrong. the tank's gear isn't good, i die to the monster five times because i couldn't stun it in time, the healer dies and we wipe, too many pulled mobs, etc. i have never had a good run here, but hopefully your guide will help mitigate some of its problems

@@ViddyOJames I made that comment 7 months ago when I was brand new to the game. You are right theres swipe, which only does a small cone in front and is easily avoidable by the tank by just walking through his legs to his back, and then there is swing which is massive and used to not have an aoe marker but does now. The tank or melee can completely negate the swing by saving all 3 stuns for the swings. There wont be more than 3 unless the group has incredibly low damage.

How can you tell if you have one Gold Lung or Burr stack, two or three? Do you just have to count how many times it hit you?

+Marcin Bohdziewicz Nope! Check the party list (usually upper left). Next to your character, it will show multiple icons showing your buffs. The debuffs show to the left of your buffs, and you can tell if you should eat a fruit now or if you can wait for another debuff. Just be near a Morbol fruit to make it fast.

TheDrjman I just did, too. My first time as a healer. At first I thought I completely sucked, and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I just solo healed Praetorium with zero problems, why can't I keep this one guy alive?! Then our tank abandoned and we got a new one. Suddenly it was pain free without a single problem the rest of the dungeon. I went from, "I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong" to, "Oh, okay, that was the problem." Ironically, the awesome replacement was a DRK who had never actually tanked any dungeon before, ever. So... yeah... That was serendipitous.

Aurum Vale is a requirement for promotion to LT for Immortal Flames GC, so Flames have to run it at least once to get access to squadron missions.

Same. And since most FCs are useless for actually helping you out in situations like this, I can guarantee most of us will be PUGing it. I know I will. Even with me being forewarned and therefore forearmed by this teaching vid, it's probably still going to be horrible. But I've resolved to clear all the dungeons in this game at least one time, and even give Hard and Extreme a go. I just kinda wish these things were less aggravating and more fun.

One thing that would be nice to make mention is when the adds spawn in the final boss fight if seedlings do spawn their auto attacks will apply one stack to the stacking debuff to the fight, if too many are left alive by the time the seedlings spawn you can easily wipe. All in all though great job :)

I just tried this dungeon the first time as healer. Couldn't keep up with the healing on the first boss. I guess not everyone was eating the fruit. After a while even I couldn't eat any of the fruit or else the dps players would die. Too bad I left the party, claiming I wasn't ready yet for the dungeon

Sameeee, I also tried this dungeon as a level 47 healer thinking it might be like any other previous dungeons . The ammount of times the party died TT. Thankfully they understand my struggle as a sprout and tried to give me tips ^^ unfortunately we didn't managed to clear the dungeon and eventually gave up on it (it was mutual, I even said I kinda want to leave so I can tackle it when I am at a higher level) and I almost cried out of guilt TT (this is the first dungeon where I actually struggled to heal)
