Funny, I've seen Mr Happy's guide for this and on the 2nd boss he makes things so much more complicated, saying all of the party members should kill adds every once in a while rather than the tank doing it when the debuff starts slowing down, thus making it a dps check. 'Course I love him for his informative videos but this was a perfect example of why I prefer you for the dungeon guides, Mizzteq.

Diabolos was certainly one of the coolest bosses up to this point. I feel like we had literally no idea how to do this but somehow barely managed to beat him without that door mechanic. At least now I know how it should have worked out more smoothly. But always good to come back here and prepare for a dungeon.

I just did this in the roulette, and while I think it's a sweet mechanic (for its time for sure,) I prefer ones that are more straight forward but with more punishing consequences. For example, if the doors didn't lose their symbols, but you also need to manually click the door to transport rather than being ported when opened and you guarantee die if you don't. That's just my take, though....being a healer and just taking all the damage cause no one knows what to do and still killing him feels like I'm being stepped on. : \

For new players that might watch this in 2020, be aware that you can no longer place markers while in combat, so you can not mark the doors. Find the two that match, open one, memorize the location of the other one, and open that one when you need to. Or just power through the damage.

If your dps is good you can power through it. Otherwise you might wanna do the doors.

You can and should just click on the two door and mark it with a sign, rinse and repeat while you’re traveling through the previous doors

Waymarks no longer work in battle as of 5.2 however this guide still proved useful to my roulette party who were all new to the dungeon.

What I've been doing with doors is mark them all right at the start. Yellow number signs for yellow pair, forbidden signs for red pair, playstation symbols for blue pair, and the chain marks for the green pair. You can lay them down fast if you have good memory and not worry about the rest of the fight :D

I would like to add that the PLD's Cover ability prevents someone from being swallowed by the first boss. We discovered this the other day!

we found on Diabolos to mark the doors using target markers. tank marks nothing. DPS1 uses the off-white marks 1 & 2 and marks his doors DPS2 uses the red circle marks 1 & 2 and marks his doors Healer uses the chain marks 1 & 2 and marks his doors the final two doors are marked by virtue of the fact that they are the only two left without marks. Since the marks are not removed during the fight unless someone messes up, you need not remember what door is what during ruinous omen, you'll have the proper door pairs marked throughout the fight. at the beginning of the fight open one door, when his omen hits 50% open the other door, after it's over open a door and move over to it's pair in preparation for omen again. simple.... of course if someone doesn't mark their doors right....... aside from that the biggest risk on him is simply someone not getting clear when they get targeted with a gravi-ball.

Honestly struggled to understand the last boss even after watching this video half a dozen times... had a healer hurling abuse at me through-out. Fun experience. It seems like every few dungeons FFXIV likes to throw in a toughie.

One door can be opened premature, then open paired door when he casts halfway.

A little trick a learned, it may or may not save time, depends on your dps. The 3rd platform right before you get to Diablos. You can skip killing the Dirty Eyes. If you hug the right side you can walk behind the eyes without them aggroing. Pull the middle ghost guy, have your tank hold him on the steps. Next sneak behind the eyes and take the towers down. If you have ranged you only need to walk on one side. Towers down, burn the ghost, everybody sneaks behind the eyes and off to the boss fight. Word of warning you cannot go a in a full circle. If you want to go back to the stairs you have to exit the way you came in, or the Eyes will aggro you.

Mizzi! You forgot about Nightmare from Diabolos :D Just puts you to sleep, tank can stun if they're feeling frisky but for geared folks it's not the end of the world.

It is actually far easier to have a dps target mark pairs at the start of the fight, then mark a third pair if necessary later on. Good guide overall though.

I don't understand how people still get this wrong. I just had someone tell me I was doing it wrong for not opening the blue doors saying they don't give a debuff stack. Also no more waymakers in combat, so you have to assign target markers now in case anyone is looking it up now.

Just finished this dungeon and was pretty disappointed. I was looking forward to all the cool mechanics, but ended up in a speed run, and we just burned down the boss without using the doors or anything. I mean, yes, we were successful, but it wasn't much fun. I find this happens with almost every higher level dungeon.

Jennifer Collins That's what sucks about being late to any party in an mmo. Within a few weeks, most top guilds/FC's got it on farm. Within a month, the vaste majority have it on farm, even random pub groups. After a year, it's probably been nerfed to not gate newer players so they can get to new content.

Puppy it's called pug for "pickup group" not "pub groups" in case you weren't aware. Unless you're playing with friends in a pub... then I guess it would be a pub group. :-P

I know what pug means, I just prefer to use the term "pub/pubbies" that I picked up on another game, because of how disorganized and random they were. Because many of them genuinely seem like they've just come out of a pub. Also, pub = public group/squad as well. Which is probably the accepted definition on said games, but still. Your slang isn't the only slang that exists, bruh.

MasterOfMadmen Don't mind me, had a rough start to the day, so I was a bit combative. lol But yeah, calling them pubs is a habbit from some shooters, mainly Planetside 2, where we would have "public platoons" that anyone could join. We called other randoms within these platoons, pubs. Then, eventually, we just started calling any random player not in our own outfit a pub or pubs/pubbies. (Pubbies actually being problematic for me with my usual ingame name having puppy in it) Funnily enough, I got the same sort of question when I started playing FFXIV, because pub seems to be pretty localized to the communities I was in before.

That's the worst part about being a tank main. You either have to go into every new dungeon with all the surprises ruined for yourself, and treating it like a mechanical system, rather than fighting for the plot. Or, you go in blind, and everyone looks at you to lead the way, when you don't even know what direction to go, or any boss mechanics. Thank god for the trust system now, letting us have a fun experience first, before we need to watch these vids, n take notes before entering a dungeon with human allies.

Absolutely hate when I fight the moth, n have the healer constantly removing the stacks, and dps killing every baby moth, n getting a ton of stacks. Then ranting at me about not keeping up the aggro, and rage quitting (only to probably do the same thing with the next 3 tanks they join)

That's where if you know how it works just explain the mechanic from the start. Most groups won't start the fight till you do, so stopping to explain how it works when you're the tank isn't too difficult.

If everyone has level 80 gear, I assume that they have to of done the duty at least once before, but if I see someone hasn't had their level synced, or doesn't have higher level gear, then I ask first. I guess a lot of people just forget the mechanic after not doing that duty for agges.

I don’t think you can put waymarks while in combat. What I do is place waymarks before pulling the boss then just chat the waymarks of matching doors so people can open them accordingly

This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases.
