Giving that the newest expansion is on the horizon, and the fact the game is now available on a new platform in xbox there is a like to be many new players giving final fantasy xiv a try, and so here is a guide to help all those new players trying the critically a claimed mmorpg with a free trial up to level 70.

Yellow quests usually have really good story & semi-important worldbuilding context in the expansion they're first made available in. I wouldn't recommend skipping them nor rushing the leveling experience, as that's the core of the gameplay experience itself & are worth doing alongside the MSQ

There are few key problems with this. 1.) This is intended for new players just starting the game, and ARR is already known for being somewhat of a slog to go through. Something which is only made worse if new players are trying to do every or even most side quests. 2.) Most other mmo teach players they need to do every side quest for leveling. This just isn't true in ffxiv and can actually hurt your experience as it will slow your msq progression and thus causing you to go longer without very useful features like mounts, flying, or unlocking jobs. 3.) Most players even if told the side quest have some good stories are still going to see them as busy work, and thus not really care about the narrative that is being told. The problem is that as a new player you don't have that connection that makes you care about the small details. This can be further hampered by how something is presented. The fact is most of the time when people do side quest they are going to grab them in bulk and turn them in at the same time making them less likely to give said quests special attention it's why contained questline like omega & alpha's adventure is more likely to engage the player than just a random quest. I'm not saying that side quest have no value period, but as a new player they are kinda pointless because you should be focusing on the msq and if you want to level other jobs basically everything else is better.

I really want to play this game, but I can't currently afford the monthly subscription fee(It's one of main reasons I stopped play WOW). Would you reccomend that I try the extended free trial? I imagine that it will take me a while to reach level 70.

As a general rule I'll always recommend starting with the free trial. Especially right now because if you wanted to buy the game I would at bare minimum wait until the Dawntrail pre-order(gives nice items like an exp boosting earring), but that besides you do have to playthrough the msq and the free trail lets you playthrough over half of it which is a month or more of gameplay for free.

I'm currently playing on free trial and have been playing for about 3 months. Cons: No market board, no housing, no friends list, no free company access. Pros: You can play 99% of the game for free, especially if you try out multiple jobs and crafting. It really is the best free trial out there IMHO.

So I don't know for sure as I am a keyboard and mouse player. That being said from what I was able to find out your best option is to change the camera auto adjust which is found at the bottom of the page where you choose standard or legacy.

When I first started and I was choosing a server, I saw Aether, Crystal and Primal and thought they were representative of Atlantic, Central and Pacific time zones. There has to be some kind of correlation there.

Not really but I get what you were thinking. The thing is all the data centers/servers are in the same place(California I believe) That being said players do have a habit of self-sorting themselves which is why many of the server/data center are known for specific communities Like for example Primal isn't a Spanish data center, but I believe many Spanish speaking players gravitate towards it thus creating a larger Spanish speaking community

Something not a single youtube creator covers properly is the fact that not everyone plays on NA servers. Did you know that people in other countries also play this game? So, the question that NO ONE answers is, if I am in Europe, can I guest with my friend in NA if we're on different servers?

No, data center travel is region based. Meaning if you play in NA you can play with any other NA player, and if you play in EU you can play with any other EU player, but you can't go from NA to EU. If you wanted to play with someone from another region you would have to make a separate character on that regions data centers. Also to your first point, the problem at least for me is that as an NA player I can only speak to the NA side of the game because it's what I'm familiar with. So for example in the video I said if you're starting in NA then you should likely go to aether since its the most active data center in NA which I know because I play in the region. Now I don't have that level of knowledge when it comes to EU or JP, and so I wouldn't personally feel comfortable recommend anything to do with those regions.

Does the game let male players create male characters? It seems every male in the game plays as a female.

I mean my main character is a Male Hyur(human) so yeah. It really just depend on the player. Some people like make themselves, some people like making an OC, and some people like a making character that reflect what they're into.

That's true of pretty much all MMOs in my experience, and I've been playing them since EQ1.

This game could delete every single Normal quest, and there would still be a million quests to do. Do not do the normal quests. they are a waste of time.
