Not too far off from what actually happened. Originally, in 1.0, it was planned for us to go to the moon and find Bahamut inside (like in FFIV), but since 1.0 was a failure, Yoshi-P asked if it was okay to "bring it down." And so it was brought down.

As someone who have 14,000 hours into the game, i can definetly say that this game is the best of all time when it comes to story and PVE content. (forget about pvp). Now, this might be bit long but i think its worth xD This trailer is actually 2 trailers put together, the first one being ''End of an Era'' and the second one being ''Flames of Truth''. I will explain: When FF XIV first launched its 1.x version, the game was a huge failure. The biggest failure that Square Enix ever had actually, so they had to change the director of that game to drastically change it, and thats when Naoki Yoshida came in and made this game the 2nd most popular mmorpg, losing only to WoW ( numbers are rising and soon it will surpass WoW). At the end of the 1.x version of the game, they made an event based where that giant red moon called Dalamud was getting closer and closer, and when the final countdown to the server shutdown reached 0:00, the servers closed and the trailer was shown for the first time. Bahamut pretty much destroyed the server, haha. This trailler was called ''End of an Era'' and it ends right after the old man called Louisoix transported everyone to a safe place and suposedly sacrificed himself. When the 2.x version was launched and became a huge sucess, there was series of super hard dungeons called ''Coils of Bahamut'', which would be in the same level or even harder than WoW mythical raids, and the story behind it was that you had to figure out how Bahamut died and why his parts were scattered around the world. Around 2 years after the launch it was released the last set of ''Coil raids'' and at the end of it, you find out that the old man was the one who killed him with the blessing of the gods, gathering all the aether in the area and turning himself into a Prival, Phoenix, which is the penultimate fight of the coil series. So yeah there you have it, such awesome traillers and the reveal as to how bahamut was killed made me cry when i first finished the coil raids and saw that trailer! Ps.: The guy with the giant axe in the trailer is suposed to be you, the main character. He appears to be young on this trailler, but as the story goes on and new expansions came out, you can see how old he has become over the course of the years in the story. Its awesome. You are also known as ''Warrior of Light''. Now, even if the game was relaunched, it doesn't mean that the 1.x story was ignored. I'd advise you to watch the video : ''Final Fantasy XIV A realm Reborn : The waning of the six sun'' , which is basically the old man narrating the story of 1.x to the point where it explains why they were fighting and why Bahamut was released from Dalamud. Its such an emotional video, really really good and helps you understand where the game starts, because its a story that is not in the game anymore. Or if you want more cool cinamatics like this one, you can watch the 1st expansion of the game : FF XIV: Heavensward, the 2nd expansion : FFXIV: Stormblood, or the newest expansion that is coming in july this year : FF XIV Shadowbringers.

Oh Whoa, thanks for all this info Acknologia NA. appreciate you taking the time to write all this man. I read through it all and I had no idea we were watching two trailers combined into one. No wonder it was so lengthy. I love awesome cinematics like this that delve into the deeper lore within games. That's why I love the FF movies like Advent Children and Kingsglaive. I really loved your explanation of the Dalamud and how Bahamut was such a calamity that it destroyed the servers. Now that is how you work your story around a games production history and make it look so cool. Glad they added the trailers in conjunction with their new versions. I will definitely check out The waning of the six sun" and react to the other cinematic trailers. Love FF in general and happy to watch more. Do gotta correct one detail here; the man in the trailers, who is often referred to fondly as 'Derplander', is not actually us/you the player. He isn't a character that looks like him that you'll eventually encounter either. He's sorta just the main character for the storyline as it's shown in the trailers, like he goes through the same things as us, but isn't actually -us-. But otherwise mostly correct. Thank you for reacting, guys! It made me so happy to see you both supporting each other, and I loved how intuitive and quick y'all were on the draw with so many points in the cinematic! Glad to hear you'll be reacting to the others!! If they hadn't suggested it I would have! I encourage you both to at least try the free trial of xiv; it's super lore heavy and there is a bit of something for everyone. As others have said, xiv is a love letter to Final Fantasy. ♡♡♡

With the new expansion, they will be adding the 'trust system' which will let players play the main story solo, though, even without that, the main story can be done 90% solo, with you being able to queue into a matching system for the few dungeons along the way. A Realm Reborn's story is decent enough, though it does drag a little toward the end, but from Heavensward onward the story in the game is amazing, and one of the best FF stories to date.

@sleepysera5 жыл бұрын
Seems a lot of people are reacting to this lately, haha. This is definitely the most hype reaction I've ever seen, I love how excited you both got ☺ It was really cool how well you grasped what was going on too! A tiny bit of extra info: the guy with the axe represents the player character and his team of adventuring friends. When the old sage teleports you away, you actually get teleported 5 years into the future where the survivors are rebuilding and you find out that underground Bahamut is rebuilding itsself so you have to defeat it before it regains its strength. In reallife the game shut down for almost a year between the moment the old sage teleports you away and you waking up 5 years in the future (and then you had to go beat the raid leading up to Bahamut to get the second half of this cutscene to find out what actually had happened after you got teleported away). So it was pretty emotional for us players :)

HI Haichao TeaLover and Welcome to the channel my friend. Thank you so much for sharing the information, the more I hear about the story of this game, the more emotional I get about it's grandeur scale. Really, it was only a few months between the two. When they "shut the servers down" what that was, was them making a global hardsave for A Realm Reborn. When ARR came out, if you kept your character, this is the point it was saved at. I forget how long this took, but it wasn't more than a few weeks, then they brought up a few servers so people could keep playing the game as it was while they worked on ARR, so you could have still played for awhile before the ARR Beta started, and they let ALOT of people participate in the beta. Basically, all you had to do to be a part of it was ask lol.

The lore is that Primals(Summons) are created by the fervent prayers of a race. Bahamut was reborn from the prayers for destruction from the tortured dragons that were sealed by humans 5,000 years prior after his original form died. The old guy was was given the power to become the Phoenix from the prayers of all remaining people who wanted the world to live. Thus he as the Phoenix was going to use the massive overflow of ether from the battle to allow the world to be reborn from the ashes. Enter a Realm Reborn(the 2.X servers)

Louisoix's (the old man who fought Bahamut) sad smile after he succeeded in teleporting the warriors away, in a "I can now die in peace" way, ALWAYS makes me tear up. Especially since the original trailer for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn ended there. So for the longest time, you thought he literally sacrificed himself to save you. The big fight after is just "fluff" as far as I'm concerned. Sure it looks amazing, and is meant to explain how Bahamut died, but it doesn't have as much of an impact on me as the first part did.

I've been playing this game since the v1.0 back in 2010. Seeing this was a treat. Let me put this into context. The Flames of Truth was a video we saw after defeating one of the most difficult raids in the game at the time. There was only privileged few who has cleared those raid that got to see this. At the time, I believe there were only 5% of the server population got to see it. Before this, we didn't know what happened to Louisoix, the old guy in the video. But Flames of Truth revealed what happened. Imagine you've witnessed the trailer after you've beaten the raid. Only you and your raid friends knew what really happened. We couldn't really share this with others either because it was a spoiler. At 6:36, Louisoix came face to face with Hydaelyn. The God in the game. And at 6:43, the twelve, the pantheon of the world who was the benevolent deities of the land. There was no dialog because they communicate in different ways. We have no idea what they said to Louisoix but soon after, Louisoix mustered everything he had to save the world. Did the Twelve said anything to him? What did Hydaelyn say to Louisoix? We don't know yet. What's even more crazy about this is after completing the latest expasion of 5.0, we became aware that our God; Hydaelyn is not what we have believed it to be. It gave us doubt about Hydaelyn's true motivation. And ask were we just a pawn? It's amazing that these trailer have different meaning every time you clear more story in the game. It's amazing in my opinion.

Stormblood is good but doesn't live up to the other 2 expansions it's sandwiched between, and the A Realm Reborn (base game) story is admittedly a bit of a slog, but does it's job in acquainting you with the world, its politics etc. basically the setup that the expansions build on in order to shine.

@Etherious Natsu Dragneel hahaha indeed my friend! If this dragon is the weakened version and been chilling locked up on the moon, then what's the actual dragon like man?!! Welcome to the channel and thanks for commenting. I like your E.N.D username :)

The original died like 1,000 years ago or more when the Allagans had reigned. Tiamat, his sister, witnessing his death and the enslavement of her kin, felt rage over the allagans and all of eorzea. Because of this, she accidentally summoned a primal version filled with hate and anger which is what was sealed in Dalamud this whole time. Just imagaine what the ACTUAL Bahamut could have done!

Well, there is not really any place to run. And if there was, its a little bit too late for that. So why not watch? Is the last thing you are going to see after all.

I agree entirely! And what a spectacular end it was with an even greater new beginning looming on the horizon!
