Final Fantasy XIV OST - Turn 9 Theme - Nael Deus Darnus

For those of you who fell in love with this track during 1.0 I am attempting to bring it back!! :)

Really surprised at how few views this has gotten. I think a lot of the people who haven't reached Turn 9 don't know it has it's own theme, but I think it's some of the most intense battle music in the game and can't wait to wipe to it over and over again. Edit: Actually just realized, this is the phase one theme from the 1.0 Nael fight. For some reason that one's hard to find footage of on youtube.

Well, Mark, I'd first like to say thank you for watching and commenting! I agree that this particular music is some of the best to fight a boss to! And, yes, it the theme from the 1.0 Nael fight (great homage as far as I'm concerned) but it changes when the boss is at 65% after you survive the Golem/Meteor/Megaflare phase to something else from the game.

Joe Sammarco I keep hearing that it shifts into "Rise of the White Raven" Basically the same theme used when you fight Gaius Van Baelsar in the Praetorium, except the White Raven version has a choir and some lyrics.

Laurentius Kirk It does! Right around the halfway point of the fight when things get even more crazy and Nael starts dropping huge pillars of allagan junk onto the battlefield.

What is the name of the first half of the theme? I know there are two different tracks, one for each half.

Gaoshiki Tempest is the first half of the battle. Rise of the White Raven is the second half. As for the track that plays during the opening cinematic for the fight, "Return of the White Raven"... I think.It's hard to know how official these names are because a lot of the post-2.1 tracks haven't been on an official OST so they may be under different names by the time they're given official titles.

DakonBlackblade2 Spoilers follow: To my understanding, Bahamut captured Nael's essence when he was defeated at Rivenroad. What you fight in T9 is a simulacrum built around that core essence Bahamut captured, formed initially into the half-remembered shape of Nael van Darnus and then empowered into a super-dragoon. (For some reason this also makes Nael a woman, some fans theorize that this is the woman Nael slew to obtain Bradamante). However, it's also definitely Nael at the core; after defeating him, he recovers some degree of comprehension, enough at least to realize that what he's been fighting you with is not his original body.
