Honestly, the dragons got done dirty. Midgardsormr is just out here looking for a house to raise his kid in, finds Hydaelyn, and agrees to watch the place in exchange for a nice crib. Then the natives murder two of his kids out of pure greed, imprison another, and drive two into maddened grief and rage. I'd be pissed too, if the ants in the house I was renting murdered or tortured most of my family.

It’s amazing how much more context Endwalker gave the dragons after we ALREADY had the “dragon expac” six years ago.

Well to be fair, there was more questions then answers. HW was part of a bigger picture, I did often how midgarsmor wasnt a primal, was a dragon but then what about the 12 and how did he come to the planet with his kin. Also why did he need to protect hydelyn why the lake did he dye? Anyways those were mine which eventually hit answered

I just got to this part and oh my god it was so awesome. ARR made me cocky and complacent when it came to Primals. I assumed he was going to be like them. I was so wrong. He striped me of my Protection and proceeded to school me as the story went on. Best intro ever.

Gotta think, for a minute here: if he can remove the blessing of light in his sundered condition, what can he do at full strength?

Well, he isnt sundered. He came to the planet after Hydaelyn was born , that's why hes so strong and effectively immortal.

Ya you lost the Blessing but the interesting part is that it is part of a test Midgar is putting the WoL through to see if he or she is worthy. After all he is under a contract with Hydaelyn to protect the source of Aether and he is aligned with Hydaelyn against any threat to Hydaelyn's life.

I just noticed that after Midgardsormr spawns his little version that one of his eyes goes dark. The first time I saw this, I didn't notice, but currently 3/4 of the way through Heavensward and coming to understand the significance of a dragon's eyes, wow. I do wonder what it will be like to go back and watch all these cutscenes when I finally finish the game, how much context and information I just...missed, because I didn't have the pre-requisite understanding yet.

No you haven't. All he did was remove the "Blessing of Light", which is that barrier/boost Hydaelyn used on you during both, Ultima Weapon and Lahabrea's battles way back (as well as having other advantages, which you'll found out later). The "Echo" is NOT the same as the "Blessing of Light". Else you wouldn't be able to understand what a certain someone will talk about on your next video(s).

not to mention the blessing protected the WoL from any direct assault by the Ascians and prevent him or her from being control by a Primal. However, it also was draining Hydaelyn's life force over time as past MSQ has mentioned. Though it is a interesting set up to 3.0 since a lot of people wonder how will the WoL obtain a new blessing to fight against the new primals and the returning Ascians in 3.0.

orrthehunter The echo is what protects you from tempering, which isn't apart of Hydaelyn's gift.
