One big tip to help all is to save all rare coins, and save all debased items. These can be used for expericast spells that will significantly increase the amount of exp you make in any fight.

Tip: Ascend to get "blink" early(pressing dodge at the last moment restores MP) as the mechanic for dodging changes to where you may never get hit again and as you improve it your MP will refill itself.

Tip: Magic is way overpowered. if you pay attention, when you combine 99 element with certain items they yield different effects. for example, I'm not in front of the game now, but if you add muscle stimulants to a 99 fire, it will become "quincast fira" meaning it will cast a stronger fire spell FIVE times in a row. I've hit bosses with this and got 9999 all five times. this makes the game TOO EASY.

But you have to purchase those items or get enemies to drop them. But honestly the bosses are supposed to be easy if you know their weaknesses. The first Behemeth was a total pain in the ass and medusa chic in the swamp killed me multiple times and even would disappear if you were taking to long to kill her. Maybe I didn't use the right magic? I'm pretty sure I had the quintcast firaga, blizzaga, waterga. It didn't matter because just like that snake boss....she had a million health points. The max damage you could do would only shave off a hair per hit. The Garuda boss takes quite a while in one of the imperial forts. Even then you have to beat her over a hundred times in order to max out weapons that the cat girl develops for you.

Here's another great tip: Change control scheme to B, having dodge set to L1/LB. IMO makes the combat more enjoyable and intuitive since it's easier to hold down L1/LB and still attack.

A good tip is to get the roadrunning and chocobump ascension skills as soon as you can. This way for every minute or so of traveling by car you'll get around 1 AP, and you'll get 1 AP every now and then while on a chocobo. This adds up as you progress in the game and will come in handy. Also don't forget to buy elixirs to replenish your maximum hp. Sell SOME of your treasure but keep at least 1 of each so you can use some of them for weapons later.

Do not always camp and eat! The experience to get to 99 is a lot! It's best to bank as much exp as you can and then use either the hotel on the beach for 2x XP for 10k gil or the 3x one in Altissia for 30k gil

A potion (or elixir if you're missing some max health) will pick up you (ora party member) from a "danger" state. Also get Ignis' "Analaze" ability and "Regroup" technique ASAP.

Dodge alot , use teamwork , know your enemy. Use wait mode , i started the game using the default combat method and ounce i switched over combat got a little easier. i havent filled any vendor orders except for the guy in hammerhead. im gonna hit up the vendors in the city today. Weapons wise i keep getting the same shitty weapons from the vendors , so i hope that changes soon.

some more tips are: link strike, be close to your team until you can land the friendship relic to hit harder... farming is good for XP but also items for crafting magic. I recommend sahagin scales far west in the marsh. magic can save you but it hurts your team and can take the fun out of combat. Eventually summons are available in tough situations. feel free to grab loot in hard dungeons then running away. if in danger potions and hipotions work and like every ff ever, have a couple of Phoenix downs on hand. Ascension up your stats but wait til later to get the most benefits for HP and st and vit.

The best tip you could give anybody before they play this game is to watch Brotherhood and Kingsglave... These give great insights and gets you ready to understand the political dynamics of the world... I'm glad I watched the feature length first before I played the game .. And the battle system is explained in depth at the beginning and throughout the game... I went into this game blind which made me enjoy the game more because I came to understand how the game works by myself which is always better than being told what to and what not to look out for... This is the first tips video that I have actually watched about this game since it's release so none of these tips are alien to me... But good upload anyways.. I am sure this helped some out there.. If you hate using Phoenix Downs, leave and re-enter battle quickly. It will bring the rest of your team back, then you can use Elixirs and the like to heal.

good tips but they're not advanced. advanced would be like purchase the combat skill for gaining AP when you do warp strike kills. or use the greatsword with gladi tempest to break an enemy and make them vulnerable. also get the combat skill deathstrike so you deal ALOT more damage to fallen enemies.

I'm looking to buy this game, and I tried the demo, but I didnt find any challenge in it. Just holding Block to automatically dodge almost every attack seems frustratingly dull. And since the regular Dodge roll doesnt actually have any invincibility frames, why use it at all? I beat the Iron Giant super easily by holding square, then slicing him 2 times, then back to holding block, alternatively dashing away or warping behind him if he did the unblockable one. I want to buy this game, but I fear that the skillcap will be super low, and the only way you'd ever be defeated is if the enemy like, one shots you, or outnumber you 10 to 1. The game also seems (I say seems) to punish offensive play, and reward super defensive play. Attacks seemed to take a long time to recover from, and you'd have to make doubly sure that the enemy has exhausted all of his attacks. People who have played this game, I don't see any challenge, or skill-requirement in this game. It just looks a lot like holding square, then doing some combos, get hit by random attack, use potion, block, run away, recover MP, block till you're behind enemy, Attack a bit, Block again... And so on. Please tell me why I'm wrong and where the challenge is. I didnt find it in the demo, not a smidget of a challenge. I didnt find it by watching Secret Super Bosses videos. What am I missing?

Vorile DeWise the game is hard at times trust me. holding block won't get you through the game bc there are attacks that can't be blocked or dodged and if you block or dodge you will run out of magic

If you are a grinder and level up for hours.....all Final Fantasy games are easy. If you IMMEDIATELY take on the harder quests/hunts...it's significantly more difficult. The snake boss, for example, is a waste of time to try early on in the game because he'll hand you your ass even in easy mode. But keep in mind....you are able to "warp strike" everything. Your character is the king of kings and keeps picking up absurdly powerful weapons. Handy cap yourself if need be by using low level weapons and no magic. There are bosses that won't die even after a Summon. Regardless, FF games are more about designing your combat and just building a god like skill set. If you want to die fighting the same boss over and over you are kind of missing all the other parts of the game. If you want to take hours to beat a boss you aren't using strategy properly. But I will agree that it needs a harder mode. I imagine some of those people would quit, though, once they couldn't beat a boss because they were too hard.

I'd about an hour. If you dilly dally too long between objectives it's possible you'll waste that meal if you ate it specifically to take out a boss. There is a node to unlock that makes it last longer. I never needed it.

Survive? Buy fucking elixirs. This game is so laughingly easy compared to other Final Fantasy titles. Once you've hit 0 HP danger mode...nothing can damage you further for about 3 seconds. Tried way too hard with the title. Some of these are basic game mechanics. And a few of them aren't even that good. You don't have to worry about your unbanked exp from going anywhere. If you use your rests a bit more sparingly you'll have more gil for exp multipliers, and more exp to multiply.
