Also just gonna say: FFXVI seems to focus A LOT around Eikons. The protagonist's attacks seem to have animations that remind of Titan and Phoenix, and the logo has Phoenix vs Ifrit clashing. IFRIT AND PHOENIX, WHO WERE MY FAVORITE GUARDIAN FORCES IN FFVIII. LET'S GOOOO.

During the fight with the big dude that skipped leg day you can see claws that have wind around them and in the fight with the robed dude the protag seemed to have done a wind assisted high jump before they shows the titan fist combo thing, so the protag might have some Garuda in him at some point as well.

We also got some old styled classes in there. The guy fighting the Malboro is clearly a red mage with his sword and magic attacks, we get a scene of a Dragoon fighting in good ol FFXIV fashion, and the other guy seems to be a warrior/berserker of some sort as well. I hope to see more clearly defined classes.

FFXV called their summons the Astrals. FFXIV uses both Primals and Eikons, but I'm glad they're going with Eikons as I feel it sounds cooler. We don't know much, but it looks like there's 2 main characters between 2 factions? We see some of the main summons appear through limb manifestations. We know we have Shiva, Titan, Phoenix, and Ifrit... Shiva Vs. Titan, and Ifrit Vs. Phoenix, so maybe summons are based on sides? Also, hard to notice, but if you watch it slowly, Garuda also appears to be in it as we do see her claws manifest. Watch for Green energy trails and slow the trailer and you will see them.

I think oe of the character will go like how the Summoner works in FFXIV with Phoenix and Bahamut trances, half fusing or using the EIkons power from witin him. If Yoshi-P is indeed the Producer, they might introduce FFXIV-only Primals to the mix making them more wide-spread.

From what I get from it, the eikons are linked with certain elements, and the world knows that phoenix is connected to “fire”. So the knight dude is surprised that there is a second fire column that spawns ifrit

That music sounds so Soken. This trailer is pretty much all we know about the game, and somehow with how the trailer gives us an idea on the story and the protags motives, the music brings out emotions too. It feels so epic and sad at the same time while mixing in the theme song, so when the protag says "I'll kill you" you can feel the fury in his voice, knowing it's probably for vengeance it also feels so sad as to the fact he ended up having to walk down that path. It just, it's just the first trailer and I already feel so emotionally attached. TLDR; I don't have the writing skills to explain how hyped I am for this.

When the FFXVI logo comes on at the end, the FF prelude sounds like the loading screen from Heavensward! Yoshi P, Soken, and the Heavensward team had a bad in this, so maybe this is why they made that prelude sound alike... as a homage. So dope!

From what I understood from the trailer. That Joshua ( the small kid) is a gifted boy and the protagonist is his body guard. As we see at the end of the trailer. Joshua's father dies in front of him and his father's blood get on Joshua's face. He couldn't contain himself and released the gift inside him which is becoming Ifrit himself. You can hear the soldiers shouting Joshua's name and telling him to stop and wake up. At the trailer's final shot, they showed us the protagonist in his younger form which was a body guard to Joshua and then they show us his elder form who was saying he is gonna kill him. Which I think he meant Joshua or Ifrit. Maybe Ifrit or Joshua was causing chaos in the world and causing the blight to spread for years. The protagonist wants to stop the blight from spreading by killing Ifrit or Joshua. So the protagonist changed from being his body guard to his killer. Tbh I loved this trailer and what I witnessed! It is a mix of FF14 and FF15. So hyped for this game!

Graphically looks similar to XIV, Yoshi-P is producing, they call the summons Eikons, Soken is slinging notes like a madlad. British VO cast which only XIV has done before. I've heard people theorizing that this might take place on one of the other worlds from the FFXIV Multiverse (i.e. not the First or the Source)

The game is being developed by the team who made Heavensward, it's produced by Yoshi-P, directed by the guy who did Tactics-Ogre (who is associated with XIV), the main character is voiced by Joe Dempsie (Ardbert from XIV), and if Soken didn't write that music I will eat my shoe. Major XIV vibes.

3 Theories 1. This takes place in the distant past of Eorzea (Even before the Allagan Empire) 2. This takes place on the 13th (and the Black/Blight mentioned around 1:35 is the incoming flood of Darkness) 3. This takes place in an unmentioned shard.

Why do you assume it's connected to XIV at all? It's a new numbered FF title; that means it's its own world. Yoshida may be producing this, but that doesn't mean it's related to XIV story-wise. It wouldn't fit in the history of the Source anyway. Dragoons are very much an Ishgardian thing, and Ishgard was first founded in the Sixth Astral Era, millennia after Allag and the Fourth Astral Era. The Dragoon is also called "Imperial". The only extant Empire on the Source is Garlemarld, and they don't have Dragoons.

@@jedimasterpickle3 Well, Yoshi-P is the guy who made every final fantasy outside of 7,9 and 10 linked to ffxiv so having a game he himself his helming linked to ffxiv somehow is pretty much a foregone conclusion, and 16 will likely have an event in ffxiv alongside 16's launch either way. Also all the terminology in FXVI being the same as FFXIV, along with the nature of how Primals work (having a host "Dominant" being the term for 16), plus the ruins in the forest looking a lot like Amdaporian architecture is also some pretty big things. Also, some food for thought, the 13th Shard in FFXIV was stated to have fallen to darkness after the residents abused the power of Primals to their own wants and wills (Ascian Intervention and rushing as well, but the intervention and rush likely was giving the human-races the power to summon Eikons so quickly). Sound kinda familiar? Kinda like people summoning and using Primals/Eikons as literal wartanks? And we know the 13th developed human society before it feel as the Voidsent are all ex-humans like Sin Eaters, and have Architecture and infrastructure as seen in the World of Darkness Raid, and also with us meeting a human ex-inhabtant who was spared from the flood of darkness in Unukalhai.

@@Alovon This doesn't seem to be remotely how Primals work in XIV. Do you see a big source of Aether around? Is there anyone in XIV that summon parts of Primals to enhance their combat? Egis are not the same. Are there any crystals in the area when Joshua transforms? There's a similarity between him and Shiva but that's it. If this was connected to XIV it would bear its name and not be called XVI.
