A video I have been long in anticipation for. Republic of my city just bought new ZR’s to finally phase out the rest of the Ex-AW CNG Autocars. Friday, September 26 was the last day for 2252, 2253, 2254, 2255, and 2260. 2256-2264 will be replaced soon enough due to their age. I will really miss these trucks especially 2252 since that truck has had my route for the last four years. 2254 and 2260 were my favorite out of this bunch because of how smooth and fast they were. This week, the first week since these trucks were retired, was a mess because none of the drivers of these trucks (except for 2260) have a permanent truck and get to drive whatever spares are in service. 2260’s driver now has 2296, the newest Curotto in the fleet, and last to be purchased. 2256-2259 have a very limited time remaining since they will be taken out of service before the end of the month/year. What a sad day when I found out these trucks were no longer running! I was only three years old when they were introduced, a revolution because these trucks were the first CNG trucks from Republic in all of San Diego county. 2259 originally had my trash route but was replaced before I started recording trucks. (2018).
Thanks for watching!
