That’s a nice set up with the small generator building.

It does work good if you have a portable generator and need to run and protect it from the elements. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

Great job. Practical and it looks good. You may want to have a cover on your cables so the UV doesn't deteriorate them over time. Love your tank set up.

Should put a small solar panel on the roof to keep geney battery topped off.
@legaleagleandpaws8198Ай бұрын
Humm....that is a great idea! The smallest panel I have is 180w (21v) and I'm not sure how I would do that - guess I could get a small solar generator 300w (like I have in the Jeep to run the 48qt 12v ICECO ref/frezz) and hook that to the panel and then use the plug in charger that came with the gen - I am going to look into something like that thanks for the suggestion. Also thanks for watching and God Bless:)

I put a small 5 watt on our shed for our snowmobile and lawnmower. I put diodes so one battery won’t back feed to the other. I get good life on my batteries.

Very nice setup. 1 can never have enough 40 lb propane tanks. Very easy to manage when needing refilled. I use a 30,000 BTU heater.

Thanks for sharing! How long will the GEN run with a load on 1 propane tank?
@legaleagleandpaws819813 күн бұрын
It depends on the load but generally 12 -14 hours on 1 tank. That is why I have the 2 tank setup - when one empties it automatically goes to the other tank. It also makes changing out the empty tank a breeze! Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

For the generator shack, since I notice the floor is open, rodents may try and nest there - and love to chew on stuff. Fox urine crystals dropped down in the floorboards works wonders at deterrence. And may need the little spring-load clips on the hooks for the doors in case it's windy, wouldn't want it to wiggle the door from some wind, closing it, and causing the CO monitor on the genset to shut it off, since I don't see any passive air-intake vent (the type like on the greenhouse would work great, screened for intrusion w/ some of your metal netting). May also want to get some small screen on the little thru-wall vent in the greenhouse as well.
@legaleagleandpaws8198Ай бұрын
I know I thought about that - have seen the chipmunks going in and coming out. I put a galvanized 1/4 inch mess on the floor of the greenhouse so noting gets in there. Right now its 17 degrees here (and has gone down to -25 since I have been here) and the poor guys need a place to go to keep warm - they are cute. I am more concerned about the bees making a nest in the summer! The door clips on the doors to keep them open when the gen is running (at least the one by the exhaust on the gen) clips in pretty good to hold it open. Thanks for your insightful input will certainly watch it when it gets windy! Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

Should have added vents and a chimney so you don't need to leave it up open. Would make it quieter.
@legaleagleandpaws819821 күн бұрын
lol...I think I overbuild it as it is - even though the soffits are past the walls the Gen exhaust is still too close to the one door though the heat gun indicates it is only 120 degrees with the door closed. The auto CO2 turn off doesn't trip when the doors are closed either but I rather be safe than sorry. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

Look into getting a small solar battery charger for the battery. Less than $30 for one will make sure the battery is not dead when you need it. Sure you have a pull start just in case, but if it is below freezing, do you really want to be pulling the generator around to get to the pull start, and then working to get it started?
@legaleagleandpaws819821 күн бұрын
I was thinking about as another viewer suggested the same thing. The gen comes with a 120v plug in with a barrel end that plugs into the gen. Haven't found a solar charger that has that size barrel to plug in - some have a + and - clamp that goes on the battery to trickle charge it but then I would have to open another part of the gen to get at the battery. I have to call Duramax to see if they have one or can tell me the barrel size. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

I see you appear to have a two-stage automatic changeover propane regulator. Do you also have a demand regulator or is it not necessary? Thanks.
@legaleagleandpaws819826 күн бұрын
For the Duramax gen I have the 2 stage regulator that came with the automatic changeover kit. It has a female plugin which is on one side of the 10ft extension hose and the other end of the hose goes right into the generator itself per Duramax. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)

I would suggest you cover your expensive electrical cord - over time the sun and weather will cause it to age needlessly. Make a little exterior box to cover it - or store it inside

Why didn't you just go ahead and bury a cable from the generator building to your cabin? So easy to do. What/why is your green house floor black? Is that Mold ?

Generator shed looks great; hope you don't need it. Do you need to secure the propane tanks? I see a lock on the generator door. Do you need to cover the end of the power cod somehow so it's not directly exposed to the elements? How long do you think you can last with those 4 tanks? Cheers
@legaleagleandpaws8198Ай бұрын
I think I got a tad carried away - it is truly a brick sh** house. Invariably the power goes out here with the storms or sometimes without any storms. As to covering the one end of the power cord your right. I had a plastic bag with duck tape on it and thanks for reminding me I took it off. Wonder if they have a plug in cover for it? It will run the gen for days depending on what you use inside. Though 4500w solar is getting installed in the spring with a 12000w solar controller/inverter with 24kw worth of batteries so it can run everything inside - on cloudy days the gen can be hooked up to charge the batteries within 4 hours. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)
