It probably doesn't mean much that the pharmacy's still open. Closing pharmacies have to arrange with other ones for the transfer of prescriptions and records. Given the store's condition it's highly likely negotiations of that sort are underway and the pharmacy will shut down when they're complete.

Possibly. At the store I worked at they closed the pharmacy towards the end because they just couldn't afford to keep it open anymore

I am surprised that Kmart still exists in 2021. I bet what little stores that remain will wind up shutting down before the end of the year if not the beginning of next year. Kmart and even Sears at this point are on life support.

From the parking Lot I don't think they'll be open much longer.The parking Lot is newly done because once they close a new tennant can move in straight away and its a good selling point for a new tennant and as all the properties still belong to Eddie Lamppart ,he rents them out furthur.

Got to visit here this past June, a year after I previously visited. I'm glad I grabbed some Little Caesar's the previous time, it stinks that it's gone now. On the positive side, my girlfriend bought a nice jacket she found in the store! The last Sears in Michigan just closed (in Westland), so it really makes me wonder how long the state's last Kmart will stick around.

K-Mark closed in the early 2000s where I lived in 2005 or 2006 K-Mark on my side of town closed in 2005 there were like 3 locations. I know the K-Mark on Westage is now a Dick's Sporting Goods across the street from The Crossroads Mall. On My side of town, the K-Mart is @Home store or something. I can't believe K-Mart & Sears are still around I thought they closed all the stores when I was up at Rivertown in late Dec I saw them going out of business sale I didn't go in it and when I went to Rivertown a few weeks ago still had the Sears signage inside and could look in it as well, surprised they didn't have it covered up and still had the signup. It will be 2 years since Sears closed at The Crossroads mall in late Oct 2019 it's a wall inside the mall no signs of Sears other than the sign outside the mall doors are covered so you can't look inside of it.

This is a very sad thing to see. Sears and Kmart have pretty much left the entire United States. The few remaining stores are mostly on the East or West coasts. Our last Texas Kmart in McAllen closed in April 2020. The last Sears in Texas is over 700 miles away from me in El Paso. Up until 2017, we had a dozen Kmarts within a reasonable drive near Houston. It is so sad that the last few stores are nearly gone. With the selection they have at this store, it is probably for the best that they left Texas and Louisiana. If you get a chance to go back later this year,, could you get some shots of the Halloween or Christmas aisles.

Sears Holding is now in the land business just this year they sold 3 Kmart Locations to Meijer in Ohio and more to Others like Big Lots and Uhall.

Appreciate the update! Anyone who believes this store will survive is delusional. All of the Kmart store closings in the past year have followed this same pattern, and look exactly like this just prior to shuttering. Marshall will be no different. All but a few vendors have cut Transformco's credit off, so the only merchandise they carry are unsold items from previous stock (liquidation) and random items from wholesalers who haven't cut off shipments just yet (like the fans, wall mirrors, and throw blankets). As a result, what's left of this Kmart is essentially a flea market, not a multi-department discount retailer. Another surefire indicator of looming doomsday is that this was recorded in Sept, and there is no seasonal stock whatsoever: Halloween costumes or candy, Christmas decor, etc Merchandise like this was the mainstay of Kmart for decades---and for any ongoing retailer.

Most people are going to Battle Creek to shop since it's so close. Also, Kmart didn't pave the lot, the landlord did, they likely know Kmart is about to fold, and want to make it look attractive to whoever is looking at possibly moving into the space (Target perhaps?).

The last K-mart in my state closed earlier this year and the remaining assortment was much the same. Lots and lots of those safety-glo windbreakers and jackets, two 40 foot long aisles of Scott toilet paper, 40 feet of Tide and 40 feet of Arm & Hammer laundry detergent, 2 aisles of those box fans, and a big section of what looked like bridesmaids dresses for little girls. Sad part was, even at 30% off, a lot of that stuff was still cheaper to go buy at regular price at Walmart.
