True, but milk just doesnt make enough money anymore, but honestly that is not a bad thing. Or how do u think the cows would feel about that, u think they liked being locked up like this all the time? U know its hard to believe if u grew up this way, but cows are super intelligent. They feel pain and fear and joy and you lock them up, tear away their calves, their kids, and pump their milk out. Please start seeing how horrorfying all of this is for them. Maybe take small steps ut please think about it❤

@@stephaniekuhne2215 I have spent my entire life in farming, most of it in the dairy industry. I know that contented dairy cattle are the most productive. They get better nutrition than most people, and the comfort of facilities is maintained for the animals benefit.

@@stephaniekuhne2215 There's a lot of animals penned up in backyards that would envy the treatment dairy cows get. Clean water, clean bedding, good housing, great diet, and attention when they are not feeling well. Social interaction with other cows, and people who care about their well being.

@stephaniekuhne2215 There is a huge difference in what cows experience on big commercial dairies today and the way it was on small family farms where they stayed out on pastures , with access to clean creek water , woodlands , and a clean milk barn . I would not enjoy much being a cow on a big commercial dairy .

Economics of scale. Take heart, even today many large operations are family owned and operated. They may be incorporated for tax, liability and succession reasons, but still family operations.

@@stephaniekuhne2215 Is that how you feel? Do your research before you write something like that. The dairy industry hosts 3.3 million jobs. A lot of which are immigrants which is good. It provides them and their family a better life then they would have had in their home country. Now I do agree with some of those points you made but that applies for large corporations. Small family farms are just simply not about that. I know all of our cows were happy to be milked they would make lots of noise and make you aware if you were not out there on when its time to be milked down to the very minute. I can tell you from farming my whole life that cows are not attached to their babies as much as you would think they would be. In many cases the cows were very neglectful to the babies and often tried to hurt the calf. The calves also are not affected by this its a lot more calming for a calf to be with a whole pen of other calf's their age they all are fed as much as they would like twice a day. They all have lots of personality and honestly I can say I have never seen a calf that's not happy on our family farm. Within hours of calving the cows will be milked and additionally they will be given a shot of Oxytocin. Oxytocin is meant to assist the cow in letting down her milk after birth. After the relief of letting out her milk she's been in pain holding in thought the late pregnancy she will be let into a smaller pen with new mothers with supplements in the water to help her regain the minerals she might have lost during the birth. She will remain in this pen for two days under close watch along side the other new mothers to make sure she is healthy after the birth. after that she will be let into a large pen with normal milk cows. The pen hosts about 200 cows but has over 300 stalls and large open walkways In the summer when its extremely hot the pen also has nice big fans and cold water misters to keep the cows comfy. The cows do enjoy being milked as it is a painful process to dry up naturally if the baby was getting milk off of them. It is painful for a cow not to be milked and that is why every 12 hours the cows are milked. The milk machines are meant to cleanse the udder not harm it. I would only imagine how painful it would be for a calf to be headbutting the udder and using their teeth as they do. And for the calf after they are separated from the mother they are moved too a pen with other newborns. Hours after birth when the mother gets milked they will drink their mothers milk for two days after birth. As the first couple times a cow gets milked after birth they let out lots of minerals for the baby. After those two days they will be moved along side the other newborns. At this point they are fed normal milk twice a day. They will continue moving pens along side their new friends until they are old enough to be bread. Then they will get bread and after a pregnancy is confirmed they will be moved out to a very large pasture with other pregnant heifers. Up until around birth. They will remain there until a week out from birth. Then they will be moved into a very comfy thickly bedded birthing pen. Along with other near birth cows. Finally they will have their baby and the cycle goes on. That what it looks like for a cow honestly don't sound that bad. Many other small farms have similar ways of doing things. Its the large corporations that harm the cows. Maybe instead of pushing your agenda you should promote small farming. Instead of making fun of one going under because of these horrible large corporations.

Probably economics, the same reason the other family dairy farms are going out of business. A third-generation, dairy farmer friend of mine in Pennsylvania transported all of his milk cows to an auctioneer last week because it was not longer a viable, profitable business. In capitalism, profits come before people.

@@jivanvasantin capitalism profits come B4 people?? In any type of economy if you can't afford to feed and take care of your assets and family the business is not viable. Doesn't matter if it's capitalist, socialist, marxist, or communist.

@@user-zu2bw7ig5v It is my understanding that in a socialist, Marxist or communist economy, the state owns the assets, not individuals or families. Such states underwrite "unprofitable" business if it serves the interest of the states.

@@jivanvasantI'll own my own assets thank you. I don't want or need the government. We technically have communism. It's called taxes and compulsory purchase order. Nothing wrong with capitalism. If someone is able to provide a product or service that people need and make profit than great. If not than they go bust which is fair also.

Whatever you're talking about that's produced on a farm... the farmer, the one who produces that, gets the short end of the stick. Everybody else makes big money, but not the farmer... oh yes, some make a lot of money, but they have a lot of acreage or animals and they have to produce huge sums I'm goods in order to do that... and so much the farmer needs anymore, costs so much. Equipment, fertilizer, sprays, It's just mind-boggling.

Simple explanation of why dairy farmers are going out of business. They get paid 20 dollars for every 100 pounds of milk they produce but to produce it, it costs 28 dollars to produce the 100 pounds of milk. Obviously this is a national average of cost but it doesn’t make sense to keep losing money. Then at some point the middle man can’t get enough milk so they start paying the remaining farmers more to barely break even then the cycle starts again. 2 things my uncle who was a dairy farmer told me to never get into was milk cows or rake chickens for the eggs because the only one making any money is the middle man 😊

They are not locked up…..cow need few things to be happy. They need feed, water, they need to be milked and their hoofs need to be trimmed once a year. Most of them are in stalls during the winter and during milking and feeding and guess what….they really like coming back into the barn. You should support such family farms who milk from 10 to 150 cows, because number of cows does not decrease, just the numer of larger, big scale operations is getting higher. There is hundreds of farms from 1000 to even 15 000 cows and these are the problem……because of these milk price is low and it is all about management, cows lives dont matter much more. So you should support smaller family farms insead of writting such stupid comments.
