Manual Ohlins damper is a must. The electronic OEM takes about a second to take over but over 100 mph and coming out of a turn that second seems a lot more. On the track I would hold. But did not like the feeling at all makes you feel uneasy. I got mine for my 2019 R1M from you Mani 🙏and the moment I tried it out you feel a huge difference. I use mine on the track.7 clicks back from full hard. And for the street 9 clicks back from full hard.

What you're saying makes no sense. The only difference between the dampeners is the adjustment method.

They are valved differently. We have experienced both dampeners, the experience is night and day on track.

Yes Mani, not only are they valved different but the electronic ones have a limit to how hard they can get and the electronic one always has some kind of delay. The manual one is definitely a huge difference, on the track when I’m on throttle specially, on some bumpy sections of the track you feel when the steering comes loose, Your bars will give you a quick shake on certain sections of the track and a moment later your electronics kick in.. it’s like a delayed feeling. I’d prefer not feeling it at all or as less as possible. On my same pace, and same section of the track where she would come loose it has happen no more. Now with the manual Ohlins damper it gave me more confidence with the feeling on the bike and allowing me to stay harder on the throne set at 7 back from full hard. So Instead of holding the throttle, waiting for electronics to kick in then opening up more after the electronics kick in. It made a huge difference now on the street I use 9 clicks back because I really don’t ride or no one should ride on the street the way we ride on the track.

There is a lot of misinformation here that needs to be clarified. The steering dampener isn't dynamically adjusted. The ECU doesn't adjusts the dampening force while riding. You set via the menu and it stays fixed at that setting. You can hear the electric motor adjusting the dampener when you save the settings. If you bike wobbles, than move the slider from handling to stability to increase the force, just like you do with the passive one. Even if it's valved differently, it still overlaps up to a point. The passive one might make a difference towards the higher end of the spectrum, but you're not riding with it set to the max anyway.

There are better steering dampers on the market. Ohlins is old tech from 20 years ago
